I've managed to get into BS ß3 Recovery (with either csr-active-config = blank or all 0's) and have run both csrutil commands as shown above.

thanks... i will testing with blank or all 0 in csr-active-config and will see work Recovery Boot.

Update: the same no change

Thanks.  I can boot to recovery mode now.  It boots to Catalina recovery even without scanpolicy=0 but to get to Big Sur recovery mode, I needed JumpstartHotPlug=Yes and ScanPolicy=0 otherwise "LoadImage failed - Unsupported"

This thread becomes very interresting with the new release beta 3.

As mentioned @eSaF there is positive or negative feedback and we can already see if there is any improvement we can hope for for the future version.

 

For me i always appreciate the detailed and comprehensive comments as @arsradu (thanks) do them : it is very important for me because English is not my "mother tongue".

 

There is some very useful information as detailed @fusion71au  or @Pavo some posts above of course a lot of other guys are helping us sorry if i haven't mentioned them all.

 

I notice the perseverance of @MorenoAv , @SavageAUS , @ameenjuz , @Matgen84 : they are always one line :thumbsup_anim: and also @eSaF :yes: :maybe they are the modern gladiators: if I am allowed to do "French humor" (sorry if I forgot others)

 

One thing I'm particularly interested in as @MacPato has already mentioned about Big Sur on the AMD system.

 

So unlike before, I will now start Big Sur beta 3 with my new AMD test system and keep you updated.

 

The Big question is Big Sur or not Big Sur for the future :whistle:

I try csr-active-config=00000000 but I can't boot on BS Beta 3 Recovery Partition idem with blank :cry:

Mat, if you remember, I actually had the exact same issue. I honestly don't know what exactly fixed it...but it did. As a workaround, you can try to boot with apfs.efi in Drivers. You can try the attached one if you want. But....I think the issue might be somewhere else (probably the config, and probably NVRAM).

 

Have you tried taking a look at the sample.plist and try to match as much as possible what's added there for both Add and Remove in NVRAM section? Maybe that's it... And of course, you need to have JumpstartHotPlug set to Yes, but you already know that.

 

Anyway, if you wanna take a look, this is what mine looks like.

Yes, I've JumpstartHotPlug set to Yes. Of course.

 

I can boot on Catalina Recovery partition but not in Big Sur Recovery partition. :cry:

Hi Mat! Yeah, same issue here (until now).

 

And yes, that's the file I used before to successfully get into Recovery. :)

Since you and I run the same setup (mobo, cpu, gpu, Proxmox VM), can you answer my above post as why I cannot seem to csrutil disable SIP in Recovery?

 

After re-booting from Recovery, it does not re-boot directly into Big Sur (probably the AMD/GPU reset problem). Instead, I must re-start the computer and Proxmox. Once re-booted in Big Sur, SIP is enabled, not disabled.

so.... it could be a couple of things. I have my csr-active-config as 00000000 in the config.plist and have the proper settings for UEFI > APFS section in the config.plist. But it could be the EFI disk that you setup for the VM itself not saving correctly.

@meaganmargaret I am on the same boat. Stuck with Asmedia, after several attempts I sort of gave up. I managed just like you with BS2, was able to create a bootable USB and also install it albeit after a couple of re-tries. But with the same EFI, I am stuck just like you on BS3.

 

Will keep trying, if I find something, I will surely update here and you will know.

Well, well from a fresh install, parroting @eSaF here, I only have one bug that is mutual I don't have startup disk, but my disk is macOs Big and not PreBoot, and I have another bug that is the brightness slider, that don't work. This time I have bluetooth, sound, the right name... for that reason I'll stay put for the time being... :hysterical: always wanted to put an emoticon like this one... LoL ...

I'm kidding here, don't take offense ...

Are you sure you have a working PNLF - either SSDT or DSDT patch?

Hi,

No I'm not sure, but my SSDT was made by MaLdon, and until 2 days it worked, it stopped working in the last 2 fresh installs...

 

PS: And now I want to tell you guys, that after a couple reboots I have a PreBoot disk at boot and not a macOS Big Sur again... weirdness Big Surianna I'm sure... LoL ...
