Hi there,

Does anyone have the latest cpufriend.kext compiled for BigSur. I'm trying to get cpu core min to be 800Mhz instead of the 1.3Ghz currently offered with the Catalina release version? I want see if the updates to support BigSur will make it work like it did in Catalina. Thanks

Compiled with latest Lilu from repository. I think you'll need both kexts atatcheds.

HI @Gigamaxx, im don't know if you fix that, but im had the same, and deleted first vmware created im fix that... run all commands again, and look the numbers of disks...

Now that I have had time to play around with Big Su.

 

Setup

CPU: Intel i7 9700k

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32 GB (4 x 8 GB)

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS ULTRA

Ethernet: Intel 1219V7 PCI Express Gigabyte Ethernet

Graphics Card: Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB

Hello everyone, I am Manas Malla, a student of 10th grade. Finally, I have been able to install macOS Big Sur without all your help and support using the restoration image given as well as using VMWare Fusion to install macOS Big Sur on a Physical SSD/HDD and to help others who are facing issues or having trouble on how to get started, I made a small tutorial on the same.

Hi @Manas Malla. The video was great. Just three considerations:

1 - Don't need to be Apple Developer do download de Beta (see instructions on first post)

2 - Remove/hide your Apple ID or Apple can strike and suspended your developer account.

3 - I had to watch it very quickly and from what I understand you didn't copy the OC to the EFI of this HD after installation because you already had it on your boot disk. But I think it is ideal to include this extra step for those who are literally replacing the current disc with the new one running Big Sur. What do you think? Makes sense?

Thank you very much! I guess about the 2nd point, I didn't show my Apple id, just my name and many people are there with my name so I hope no problem. If I replace the video now I will have views problem, slowly this time due to god's grace I have 175+ views! :)

I Successfully installed vanilla macOS Big Sur via usb with the latest OpenCore 0.60 :thumbsup_anim:

Deleted:

NVRAM -> Add -> 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 -> booter-fileset-basesystem + Data + <00>

NVRAM -> Add -> 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 -> booter-fileset-kernel + Data + <00>

NVRAM -> Delete -> 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 -> booter-fileset-basesystem

NVRAM -> Delete -> 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 -> booter-fileset-kernel

 

Kext: AppleALC, IntelMausi, Lilu, SMCProcessor, SMCSuperIO, USBMap , VirtualSMC, WhateverGreen

@ludufre Installation is now possible without real Mac or VM with the latest commits of OC, Lilu and WhateverGreen. Are you going to update the guide or make a new one? I'm unable to build it, my Xcode beta won't build any of it.

How to modify this command to Big Sur Beta-2?

"Untitled" should be replaced with the name of the USB Disk that you want create the installer with.

You should enable Intel VT or Virtualization option in BIOS/UEFI.

Completed installation, everything works fine.

Main: Gigabyte H270 gaming 3

CPU: kaby lake 7700K

GPU: Radeon RX Vega 64 8 GB

WIfi: Bcm94360cs2

If using mine add your MLB, ROM, SystemUUID and SystemSerialNumber in config.plist

Thanks for all methods for get install...im can get install via usb bootable in Lenovo Thinpad E470 and GA Z170-Xp-SLi.

 

Works fine with EFI compiled by @MaLd0n and after that, DSDT and fine tuned for him too, works very well, fast and beauty!!!

I got VM working on my Ryzen 3900X.   Beta 1 and now Beta2

Big thanks to @ludufre, others for the tips.   

 

I think I ran into every possible error along the way.  I found that connecting the new drive to SATA and erasing it before starting the iso build worked the best.   Plugging it in before the remove disk part made it unusable and the terminal command didn't transfer permissions correctly.   This resulted in an error when running the Vm.  ironically, after running the command to unmount it still appeared on the desktop so I manually ejecedt it, but the terminal results worked.

So after getting that to work correctly the VM would open and run through the language, disk utility and install MacOS but it would pop up this error at the Install.

Solved it by editing the bigger.vmx file.   This was done by following a few blogs on the error.   The trick to this is if it happens on the first install attempt, delete everything and rebuild the VM form scratch.  "Before" you hit the run tab after making all disk removal, add new disk and iso/disk add shut the VM machine down completely.   Right click on the bigsur vm icon on the desktop and select "show package contents".  Open the bigsur.vmx with text edit option (right click to select).   Add your hw.model and board.id as shown as well as (smbios.reflectHost = "TRUE" just above them. see pic).   Remove any space as shown in pic.   Hit Save and then open the VM and run.

Hi @Gigamaxx... maybe you want try test new EFI in your desktop Z170...just for boot install only...and the runnning install will long feel minutes after 20 sec at boot, and wait 4 minutes, so installer will run to install page region language...so, be patient...:lol:

 

Works fine in Lenovo E470 intel iGPU 620...is for install only, just put -igfxvesa on Nvram boot args.
