[pre-release] macOS Big Sur

I followed fusion71au guide to delete snapshot and it worked just fine, just pay attention to step 5’s (“”) the (“”) are needed. Check your config as I believe you need 77080000 not 7708000. Boot picker I’m at a loss with, internal boot picker or open canopy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Worked great for me. Got stuck at step 5 I think it was until I entered the “” Now my DW1820A works and also fixed the lag I had with the menu bar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok I’ll give it one last try before I purchase a BCM94352Z based card. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did you do this method and replace the IO80211.kext with an older one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Compatible wifi cards

So is the BCM94352Z still the go to card for laptops? For Big Sur and below? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Apologies for late reply but I just trashed my install (both Big Sur and Catalina) so now the trash is cleared. I never keep important files on my laptop so it’s no biggie, just annoying. Also putting Big Sur possibly on hold until I find out if the BCM94352Z is compatible with Big Sur and below and get it. Currently have the DW1820A and it’s not supported and I cannot get the workarounds to.....work. Sorry for o/t again. I’ll make proper thread if needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    [pre-release] macOS Big Sur

fusion71au when I boot into the 3rd stage all I see is a preboot drive not the drive I named. I’m guessing I did something wrong? Do we need the patched installer? I’m thinking about giving up on Big Sur until I get a new WiFi card. Is the BCM94352Z still the go to card for Big Sur and below? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    [pre-release] macOS Big Sur

Ok doing a new install now using the above “shutdown” method. At stage 2 now with 28 minutes remaining so I will post results once all done. Side note: is anyone having issues with Catalina once big sur is installed? Complaining about apfs version or features or something like that? and it takes a long time for wifi to come up. Did you actually try that csr-active-config? I just tried it and rebooted into Big Sur and tried running sudo mount -uw / and I still get the same 66 error. Should I clean nvram first? Laptop in specs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Both quirks are already set to true. When i tried -x i also used -v but surely that wouldn't be a problem? Black screen happens in both Big Sur and Catalina

I just tried -x and it boots to black screen. I am not sure how to use the other options and dont want to mess up my install.

Followed to the T and now having to do a fresh install. Not a good method.

Is there a way to use the Catalina IO2011family.kext in big Sur? I’d like to get my DW1820A working while I wait for a new card to arrive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Unfortunately none of those won’t fit in my specific laptop. Not much room. Was just looking at a bcm94360ng, will that work with BS and below? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Unless it's only me, be careful with the new updated kexts. I now cannot boot back into my Catalina install but Big Sur still works.

So what is the go to WiFi chip for laptops for Big Sur and below? I have m.2 A/E key Broadcom BCM94360 or Broadcom BCM94352 Also new kexts just built from master. Pick what you need. New Kexts.zip

Yeah that was happening in Catalina as well for me, I’m hoping to bypass the commander pro in my next build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So i got stuck in the reboot loop trying to install Beta 2 so i decided to reinstall Beta 1......should have been easy right? I've had it installed before, no changes and no luck either.

Can you enable any sort of hot plug? Usually a "hot plug" device gets shown as external.
