Thanks for the work!

Now can someone tell me which video driver I should choose for an Nvidea Geforce 6200 LE PCI Express card?

I have ver 10.4.9 running fine but when I try to run 10.4.10 it just reboots when it tries to initialize the video system (I think), I've tried many drivers but so far no luck!

ok this is my issue:

hp dv 6000 series laptop. intel core solo t1350, 80gb hd, dvd rw, intel 950 video, conexant audio.

i burned the image on a dvd (md5 matched). it boots fine, i select the components i want to install (conexant, video, and network components and the notebook enhancement). i press install and i get an error that if failed to install and that i need to restart my computer.

any ideas or suggestions?

ps: i have a 60gb vista partition and a 15 gb partition on which i want to put the os x. i did run diskpart and set partition 2 as active but nothing worked.

Hey all (especially mac.nub):

I've got an old(er) machine - a Dell Dimension 8400. It's got a P4 3.2 GHz with HT, SATA, PCIx, but does not have SSE3. I've poked around to see if the CPU in that machine can be upgraded to something with SSE3, but it appears I'm out of luck (though if someone out there knows more than me and can tell me otherwise, I'll be thrilled). So for now, I'm stuck with SSE2 only. Shelling out the money for a new machine isn't an option: if I were to do that, I'd buy a mac.

I've tried the Universal kernel and the "Optional Kernel" that mentioned SSE2. After reboot (in both cases), I get a kernel panic with 'unable to find a driver for this platform "ACPI"'. I've searched the forum for this and found stuff related to earlier releases of OS X.... Nothing seemed directly applicable. I've successfully installed 10.4.6; Uphuck's 10.4.9 couldn't find my SATA drives but at least got further than this.

My guess is that I selected the "wrong" set of packages from the install disk. Any ideas on what the correct set of core packages might be? I did Base System + the 8.9.1 package (with its kernel once and then minus that kernel with I used the kernel out of the optional kernels pacakge).

Any help would be much appreciated. Failing responses, I might try Uphuck again but fiddle with the SATA drivers on this disk to see if I can hack together a working system.

Thanks!

hi mac.nub

i have a PC with :

MB Asus P5K3 Deluxe

CPU Intel E6850 3.0GHz

RAM 2Gb DDR3 1333

VGA Nvidia 8800 Ultra

Hdd WD 250Gb SATA2

I wonder your release its working on my PC and if yes I ask the Final Cut Working ?

Thank you!

Sorry for my bad english.

hey mac.nub,

I seem to have an issue with your installer and i was hoping you can help. I'm getting a kernel panic right off the bat when im loading your installer and i was wondering if you could help. My specs are as follows:

Intel Q6600

Abit IP35-PRO

4Gb DDR2 800

XFX 8800GTS

Hdd Seagate 320 SATA

I'll give you the exact details of the panic when i can, but it seems that the Kalyway DVD failed on me and the only one I could get working was the JaS 10.4.8 image although for some reason when I loaded that it was extraordinarily slow and eventually crashed midway into the install. I have the stupid Jmicron PATA controller, and while i dont think that would have affected the kernel panic as the drive I was loading from was SATA, I mind as well mention it. Congrats on a great installer, I just hope i can get the chance to use it!

I am having a problem as well.

I chose to install via VMware, as I've done with older versions of OSx86. The install seems to go through just fine, and it successfully completes, but when I reboot and boot from the hard drive I installed to, it shows the bootloader and then the machine reboots on it's own.

Any ideas?

Hi mac.nub!!

Well i just finished the download and burn it, all fine md5 checksum, but i get the same error as other release of Mac Os X "waiting for root device", i try different combinations of bios configurations and nothing... so i can get this working using a SATA or PATA HD my specs are:

Pentium D 930 @ 3GHZ

Asus P5NSLI 430/410 Chipset

ASUS EN7600GS 256MB

1GB DDR2 of Kingston Value Ram (soon 3GB)

1 SATA HD 250GB WD (soon another Seagate 500GB SATA2)

1 PATA HD 30GB WD

Sound onboard

LAN onboard

USB Mouse

Keyboard PS/2

So.. if i want really get this pc working with mac, im running debian at this moment without any problem. Even i have a Dual-Boot with XP-SP2. But i never get the mac release (any of them) working with my pc... help please!!!

God damnit I give up, I was hoping that this would work because Mac.nub said it would.

This, just like ever other god damned mother-{censored} install disk won't install.

It gets done with base system one and then gives me an error and tells me to restart.

I have this laptop: http://www5.pc.ibm.com/europe/products.nsf...xx?OpenDocument

Everythign works except 3945 Intel wireless (as usual) and Realtek 862 audio card. I hope someone can help me with the soundcard.

Thanks mac.nub for this nice release.

As an update, I think that whatever kernel being used to boot on this cd is probably incompatible with some of my hardware, though i dont know what, just after the kernel initializes I seem to get an unresolved kernel trap just after it tries to load. Any ideas?

@Damian That's a really common error for people trying to install with PATA CDROM, search the forums and I'm pretty sure you'll find the answer you need to install. My problem on the other hand isnt looking too good. :)

Hi! Thank you very much for this release, however I have a few questions:

Will this release work with the following:

Marvell Yukon 8838036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller

Intel/Realtek High Definition Audio

if not, would it be possible for myself to implement these once the OS is installed?

God damnit I give up, I was hoping that this would work because Mac.nub said it would.

This, just like ever other god damned mother-{censored} install disk won't install.

It gets done with base system one and then gives me an error and tells me to restart.

Have you tried the XxX installer? It is the only disk that installs cleanly on my laptop, maybe it will work for your hardware.

mac.nub rocks!

So far this seems to be the best release of 10.4.10 I've used. Booted up from first try. Used Apple's Software Update to apply all update/patches and it still works! I'd stopped doing that when updates would kill the machine. I haven't started loading software yet since I still expect to get a 7300GT video card soon.

So far EVERY thing except the following works.

1. QE/CI doesn't work but I expected that since I am only using a nVidia 6200. I'm trying to find an inexpensive nVidia 7300GT AGP for this project though which should give me QE/CI support.

2. Sound. The onboard SoundMax hasn't worked with any release of OSX I've tried, so this isn't a suprise. Anyone know if a basic Soundblaster PCI card would get recognized and work? It's not real imortant since I also don't really have room on my desk for yet another pair of speakers.

3. USB & Firewire all working perfectly with USB flash drives, Hard drives (2.5 & 3.5" USB, 3.5" Firewire), Canon and HP digital cameras and Sanyo MiniDV Camera.

4. Where are the print drivers? I know I can download drivers from HP for my HP 8100DN laser, but I remember that earlier releases made it easy.

5. It doesn't boot unless the install DVD is in the drive. This also happened under XXX 10.4.10. Previous releases (JAS 10.4.8 and earlier) booted from HD with no problem.

I feel very lucky with this machine. It is basically a junk yard dog made from parts out of my closet. The fact that so much works makes me very happy.

Motherboard - Intel La Crosse D865GLC

Chipset - Intel Springdale-G i865G

CPU - Intel P4 2.8Ghz (Prescott based - identified as Core Solo in About, Core Solo in profiler)

BIOS - AMI (03.07/05)

RAM - 2Gb DDR @ 333Mhz (4x512Mb - About sees all 2GB, only DIMM 4 was identified by Profiler)

IDE Controller - Intel 82801 Ultra ATA

USB Controller - Intel 82801EB

FireWire - VIA chipset 400MB

Sound - SoundMax Integrated Digital 6.6 (not working under any release)

Disk Drive - Seagate ST380021A 80GB IDE drive

Optical Drive - Pioneer DVR-112D ATA

Network - Intel Pro/1000MT PCI

Video - nVidia GeForce 6200 AGP (works, but no CI/QE support)

Monitor - Dell 198WFP 19" Wide screen @ 1440x900

good effort... but doesn't work... just like every other osx86 install disc:

SATA DVD-ROM as AHCI: ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3)

PATA DVD-RW as AHCI : ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3)

SATA DVD-ROM as IDE : System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found

PATA DVD-RW as IDE : ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3)

i'll try vmware, but nothing, and i mean nothing works in terms of ICH8/ICH8-R kexts and VIAATA kexts.

Core2Duo E6300 on a Intel DG965WH motherboard, using integrated X3000 video, everything else disabled.

God damnit I give up, I was hoping that this would work because Mac.nub said it would. This, just like ever other god damned mother-{censored} install disk won't install. It gets done with base system one and then gives me an error and tells me to restart.
How about you not be an unappreciative jackass and go buy a real Mac? I'm appalled at the sheer amount of clueless, know-nothing people who {censored} on one guy's work. Will X work, will Y work, how about the bunch of slackjaws do a lot of reading about their hardware to find out if it's supported and then try various things themselves instead of asking for every little thing?

incidentally, i may have chosen the wrong packages but it installed but would not boot on my p5w dh deluxe. jas 10.4.8 was the only one that has installed smoothly.chose sata support, optional usb patches, ich7r, radeon 1950xt support and as little else that i could. installed, booted but hung on a light blue screen after apple logo. anyone with an asus p5w dh deluxe get it working with a particular install combination?

Instead of crying that it doesn't work, can you please list your system specifications and list exactly which options you chose to install from the disc. This will allow people to be able to help.

And don't post a message saying "I tried everything". As some people have pointed out already, if you enable everything you will have problems. Enable only the parts which match your hardware. If you are unsure, ask.

I'm getting so p'd off with the number of people having problems and not providing any information so they can be helped. If you want help, give us information or don't post.

How 'bout you shut up? I'm 14, I GET to be all gripp-ey and stuff.

I'm not downing his work, I'm saying I'm Pissed because it won't work just like everything else. I can't find the problem, I've done so much research my brain is going to explode and I still can't find the problem.

So No, I can't buy a real mac, nor do I want one. The Radeon 2600XT is a piece of {censored} compared to my 8800GTS.

I would upgrade to a c2d but my motherboard does not support it. Dell is an idiot.

They won't update the bios on the XPS 600 JUST BECAUSE it is dis-continued.

+ it was discontinued a week after my dad got it... the c2d came out like a week after that. :/

And I've already posted my system specs to Mac.nub himself. He said it would work.

And I'm not so stupid that I would enable everything. Every last hackingtosh and all possible configs always have an error right after "Base System 1" finishes installing.

Why would the base system stuff make it error :/

Hi mac.nub!

Is your 10.4.10 kernel available as a separate download. I have an xnu 8.10.1 and 8.10.3 kernel but neigher of it is working on my config.

I would like to give yours a try but do not want to download the full install image.

Thanks:

Hi:

Not working... yet.

I got the black screen with the cursor blinking. I understand it could be many things...

Starting point: My PC worked with Jas 10.4.8, with no changes.

I want to install it in a disk with no other operating systems... So, I got a clean DD IDE.

My Pc is a CELERON on an Intel 845GEBV2 board with everything integrated, except a Realtek Lan that works without any problem.

When Installing (I had a mix of selections performed) I see a recourring error that comes from the install Log:

Couyld not determine if partition needs bootloader.

Partition is not MBR \n

Can't set active boot partition as dev/disk0s2

I suspect it could be an error of the partitioning... But I have played with the Disk Utility to recreate everything.

Sorry if it sounds trivial for some of you... but can you give me a hand on this please?

Thank you!
