Well, I don't know if it is PSU / CPU / Motherboard. Problem is that everything is running fine after some issue for days.. And it is a custom water cooled system. And how can I check if the PSU is the problem without replacing the PSU? I will try to switch the powerlines on the PSU to see if I pull to much power from a line during boot but IIRC tests correctly the PSU doesn't has several lines as old ones have. I could also check to see if I could keep the fans down during boot, atm the will spin up in the beginning for full. BUT.... sometimes even a reboot (which doesn't change anything on the fans and lights IIRC) can cause sometimes a boot into the bios :worried_anim:

Go into windows and run HWINFO and stress that system out hard for a while and watch HWINFO for fluctuations in the power and HW Errors.

If somethings up then HWINFO will probably catch it.

Hey guys!

So this isn't anything major, but I find if I leave my computer asleep for more than a day or two there is a sleep wake failure in the EFI, below is the error. Any ideas for a fix?

Thanks for the update @AudioGod!

One question, can I set csr-active-config to ZwAAAA== in NVRAM->Add->7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 to disable SIP?

Thanks!

I followed OpenCore guide here, it recommends to add FF0F0000 instead of 67000000 for NVRAM->Add->7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82

In addition, the guide says that you have to add in NVRAM->Delete->7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82 a String element with csr-active-config as a value.

I tried both FF0F0000 and 67000000, reboot -> reset nvram but csrutil status returns this:

System Integrity Protection status: unknown (Custom Configuration).

Configuration:
	Apple Internal: disabled
	Kext Signing: disabled
	Filesystem Protections: disabled
	Debugging Restrictions: disabled
	DTrace Restrictions: disabled
	NVRAM Protections: disabled
	BaseSystem Verification: enabled

This is an unsupported configuration, likely to break in the future and leave your machine in an unknown state.

I expected to see System Integrity Protection status: disabled message.

What I am doing wrong here? :/

Hey guys, before I go and format my SSD and start over I thought I'd see if anyone has any suggestions here first..

Currently my pc fails to boot 99% of the time on first attempt and I have to hit the power button to restart the cycle then it boots to the OS picker screen. none of the mobo LEDs are indicating some sort of boot failure.

Maybe related but recently I'm also finding I need to plug in my apple keyboard at the login screen or its not detected (magic mouse is) once unplugged the keyboard functions as normal.

OC 0.66 with EFI from here - Big Sur 11.2.

I don't recall the issue being there prior to 0.66 maybe not before Big Sur all together so Im just wondering if anyone else has suffered boot issues with that or OC 0.66?

My other issue which has been around for a while now is my Icons being too big on boot up and Aorus Logo, no matter what I put in the resolution field on config.. the issue Ive found is not present when booting into recovery mode as I found today..

I've got cloud storage for documents and I suspect a clean sheet without using a time machine backup might be my best solution, but just holding off to see if anyone chimes in with something I've missed recently regarding booting issues.

Maybe I can enable logging some how to see what's failing at boot? I've plugged in HDMI instead of DP for now to see if its simply a display issue.

Thanks

Edit* was just about to create a new USB with OC0.67 but the links are dead, anyone have a link please?

Hi - Same board, same cpu, same amount of memory, maybe try my EFI Folder on a test USB Drive to see if the glitch is removed. I use iMacPro1,1 (2017) to enable DRM for Apple TV+ and Netflix. I have removed my personal data from the config.plist if it works out for you, you'll have to furnish with your own. Good luck.

@rob1980 The links for the EFIs are working fine.

Try again!

Thanks, said unavailable below them earlier in grey text and link led to a blank page.. wasn’t sure if they’d been taken down by yourself for some reason.

@rob1980 I would advise you to try AG's posted EFI first Whether the Pro 1.1 or the 19.1 for your rig and carefully follow instructions, my EFI Folder is basically based on his iMac 1.1 Pro folder from day one and never had any problems. Both his published EFI Folders are tried and tested by many that follow his Thread without any major problems. Like I said the iMac Pro1.1 is more suited for me to enable AppleTV+ and Netflix as the iMac 19.1 proved very difficult to enable those two services with the latter SmBIOS Mac Model. Good luck.

Personally before starting from a clean EFI I'd reset the bios first then apply the correct bios settings then start doing the hackintosh magic. Gigabyte boards are not exactly known for their stable bioses and the fact that the Aorus splash screen is being displayed incorrectly makes me think something hanky is going on in the bios. Therefore I'd try & start with a totally clean slate on the latest bios.

Just to be clear guys (as I probably wasn't before) Im using AG's EFI (always have) im on the latest BIOS with everything exactly as it should be, this is a new issue that has occurred without any bios changes. having said that, jamboree comment about the splash screen could be onto something, so I'll try resetting the bios first and go from there.

@AudioGod link on page 1 is still not working for me for some reason.(fixed see edit)

Edit* Im on Bios F12J, going to update to K before proceeding.

Another edit* Link is no longer saying unavailable and is working again...404 error gone so all good there.

Thanks guys!!

Well, in the end I formatted.. only because I have cloud backups of important docs and my build was restored from two previous builds and there was lots of unneeded  garbage.

I updated the bios to the latest revision which is now 12K for the wifi model, reset all settings then manually setup bios again.

Created a new USB installer with the latest Big Sur and OC 0.67, installed and setup our account, restored docs and installed only needed apps.

So far restarting has been problem free. The issue with the oversized splash screen and icons on boot picker plus apple loading screen remains (is normal size when booting from USB / Recovery) so Im lost on that one, its an ultra wide monitor but I recall it being ok before an update at some point, I think to Big Sur.. I'm sure there are others with wide monitors who do not have that issue, its only looks and doesn't affect performance but still Fugly lol.

I also realized the download links kept going as this website would not save my login each Time I left/closed my browser (safari) I've not checked again since the new install however.

Thanks for the help and suggestions guys, I'll do some more reading up on the resolution issue, I'd tried setting custom sizes in config before without success, its still set to Max right now.

Word of warning if you're running Catalina still on the beta programme, i just tried the latest update:

macOS Catalina Security Update Public Beta 2021-002 10.5.7

My hack refused to boot to login screen after the update, just left with black screen & had to restore from from the Time Machine backup I made prior to the update. Anybody else seen this behaviour?

I suppose it gives the perfect excuse to update this hack to Big Sur. :-)

has anyone updated to v11.2.3?

For me it doesn't even showed in Software Update yet :/

UPDATE:

It seems that the issue was because I had SIP disabled, although I had SIP disabled for a long time now and I didn't had any issues getting updates, strange.

Hello everyone, I have a problem.

I updated my EFI from OC 0.6.3 to the latest (0.6.7) and it now works correctly.

But I have a USB Wifi antenna and it no longer works on any of the USB ports.

Please help, what can I do?

Edit: The issue was the Hackintosh wireless driver that needed to be updated due to OC changes.

@unknownharris bear in mind that most likely your USB WiFi module won't be compatible with macOS location services. None of the USB WiFi modules I tried worked, my Archer T6E worked for a few months until an OS update broke the location services for that card and now I'm on ABWB BCM943602CS which works great so far. I don't use WiFi at all for my hack, I only need the WiFi card for location services.

  • 2 weeks later...

is anyone else experience issues with sleep, or it's just me?

When I put my hack to sleep, once the fans stop it wakes up after a couple of seconds :/

I have wake on lan disabled in WiFI (in both places) and I think power management is set properly:

image.png.c2d843483356ce8eaf8a2e7b4c62d992.png

UPDATE:

After running pmset -g log | grep -e "Sleep.*due to" -e "Wake.*due to" I'm getting the following:

image.thumb.png.2f2a05fce55ec3fac50372170206f35e.png

I'm trying to understand where the issue might be.

UPDATE:

I think it might be related to a software, maybe time machine, because actually after a minute it goes back to sleep and it's ok afterwards.

@robix604 thanks for the suggestion! I was also about to patch it, although I was a bit sceptical at first, but that you also posted that the patch works for you I proceeded with it myself as well.

I have to note that with the patch sleep functionality works flawlessly for me, although you cannot wake up your computer via keyboard or mouse, only via power button, which to me is a desired behaviour.

I have my phone connected to my hack and I have it on a desk stand, a lot of times when I put my hack to sleep and forgot to unplug my phone before I put it to sleep, once I unplug the phone the hack wakes up, with that patch now I don't need to worry about it because I can plug and unplug my phone from the usb dock without waking up the hack.

Thanks!
