Big Sur cannot be vanilla installed directly to a hdd/ssd yet (correct me if I’m wrong) still waiting for devs to come up with a work around. To test Big Sur you must use the VM method. I have a Synaptics Clickpad. When I click on Trackpad preferences, it says that there is no trackpad present.
