i have a problem with some programs.

for example: when i start spore i get this kernel panic

this happens also on stepmania and when i try to install divx.

I've got a pc with:

AMD Athlon x2 5000+

Nvidia Geforce 6200 with full qe/ci

Asrock ALiveNF6P-VSTA (nforce430)

2 GB DDR 2 Ram

 

For lan i installed nforcelan.kext

for the audio i used the applehdapatcher

and for the mainboard i installed the old medevil 1.0.3 kext.

 

has someone an idea why this happens?

After installing new voodoo kernel (9.6.0) my system died on start with kernel panic =(

 

I've just update it to 10.5.6 and it's all crashed...

 

P.S. Can i restore my system? I've got access to my mac drive from windows, so i just need to replace files... can anybody attach them here?

 

This is not the 10.5.6 kernel, you can see clearly it is voodoo 1.0 (10.5.5).

Andy is right !

I cant understand why some users downloaded + installed Andys new/extra kernel pkg without reading all , ask him by PM if uunclear and make an bootable clone first.

Some to worried posts against Andy i think where to hard.

But Andy, perhaps should warn more next time in the posting (1. Clone your system first, 2. read all readme...)

In the bug reports of the kernel are some other games NOT working with AMD !!!

Such problems perhaps may never get fixed, i think - sure i hope you AMD fans get an solution !

The kernel looks good, but i have an issue. I installed this using the installer, and when i rebooted, it would load kernel, than reboot again. This is beta 2c on an intel pentium 4-m sse2 only. Any known fixes?

NO. Use the installer only to install on the currently booted-up partition. In all other cases install the kernel manually according to your requirements.

Mercuryquad: quick question (hopefully): if Voodoo only disables/patches/works-around the bare minimum requirements for a Pentium D CPU, why does the custom dyld get loaded, and not the vanilla one? I ask because of the bug report for Silverlight DRM (that was me:) ), which was ultimately classified as a custom dyld issue. Is there something that prevents the vanilla dyld from working correctly with that CPU, or does the custom dyld always get loaded, no matter whether the vanilla dyld will work or not? Forgive me if this not a very intelligent question. Thanks for all the hard work - you're a class act, mate.

I installed Voodoo using the automatic installer and it seems to have worked flawlessly. Well-done.

 

Some comments were made earlier about Software Update having problems if you replaced rather than merely added kexts. How do I determine which ones I've replaced, if I've replaced any? I Hackintoshed back on 10.5.2 and it's been a VERY long time since I installed this system, so I don't remember.

 

Also I have seen no mention of 10.5.6 with the Voodoo kernel.

 

Furthermore, should I want to change to the vanilla kernel, I've not been able to locate any advice as to how to do that.

Id like to thank very much Andy for the release.

I use a Pentium D 805 on a Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L and updating to the 1st release of his kernel gave me back the speed i had on 10.5.4 system (and that i had lost with the 10.5.6), my Xbench gone up 50% in almost everything, in principal the graphics part.

With the Release 2 - i dont know if it had to do with HPET or the built-in who-cares-if-its-legal-once-we-have-to-use-a-ilegal-kext-anyway decrypter - i got plus 50% on the thread and cpu tests on Xbench... my system breaves again!!

Thank you very much, and about the discussion on the name, Andy, considering the results in my system i do prefer calling your kernel Andy then Voodoo.

Yeah i tried it too... Also kernel panic, no matter which kernel i boot...

 

Also i first installed the kernel only, which worked, so i thought the pkg would be working too but it didn't...

 

I've analyzed my error and I've found it:

The problem lies in the permissions of the kexts.

You can fix it by booting with the install DVD.

Select language.

Utilities - Terminal

type:

chown -R root:wheel /Volumes/<Mac Partition>/System/Library/Extensions

chmod -R 755 /Volumes/<Mac Partition>/System/Library/Extensions

close terminal

Utilities - Disk Utility

repair permissions on disk

reboot.

Any Idea about my Kernel Panic?

 

I get it just after installing 10.5.6 with Kernel voodoo 9.5.0. when PC is shutting down.

 

I can boot afterwords but will experience KP again after few seconds.

 

I tried both iPC 10.5.6 and XxX 10.5.6 LEO rev.1 . same result.

 

Tried both AppleNforce kext and AppleNForce Test kext.

 

Tried Kernel XNU 9.4.0 as well, and many other different options, but still same KP error.

 

iDeneb 10.5.5 worked without KP before this experiment, though I experienced other problems with that one:)

Hi, I got my first Voodoo 1.0 kernel panic after using the kernel since its release day.

 

(the panic is reproducible on my system btw)

 

I think it might be a dual-core issue, because it never happended on my singel core cpu. 

 

I now got a dual core opteron 165 with a nforce4 chipset. The Panic always occurs when i try to

 

copy large files from one sata partion to another on the same physical drive.

 

I got the 4gb+ enabled appleNforceAta.kext btw.

 

 

Any ideas ?

Latest news entry is ftom jan 06 in the wiki.

If Apple updates to 10.5.7 in march the gap maybe get bigger, if not realised voodoo 10.5.6 in Feb 2008.

No hurry , no complain - only an "thinking" and gretings to the voodoo team !

hmm i just jumo into 10.5.6 & seems my leo4allv3 working charmed here. the only prob were "About This Mac" unable to display the correct cpu & ram speed. any idea to fix?

 

btw, what the latest voodoo version? im still at voodoo 9.5.0

This kernel didn't work on my friend's iDeneb (AMD) hackintosh. Installed with the automatic installer, but it doesn't boot OSX anymore. Another reinstall ahead...

 

That said I doubt the kernel work on my Pentium 4 Hack with iDeneb installed.

Note: Set under /Library/Prefences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

Under the kernel boot arguments:

set:

macmodel=MacPro3,1

or

macmodel=MacPro2,1

That will set it back to Mac Pro...

You can use this override to override to any model...

As long as it is an original Mac Model Name, it will work just great...
