Thanks, I've had 1 more bug report with Parallels. Could you file a report on google code and put the screenshot link in there too?

Looks like it's sorted out, after I installed the voodoo kernel in the root folder to setup vmware fusion, parallels suddenly worked. I wil do some reproduction later this week to be sure what has triggered it to work.

And a big thanks to the community:

after one and a half year I finally have a (so far....) stable leopard installation!

(thanks to the voodoo kernel, eno's nForceLAN and Apple's 10.5.6)

This is a great day for me!!!!!!!!

Another KP here with voodoo kernel :D

Happens everytime when I try to start Google Earth. Has anybody had this problem?

Tried older versions of GE and the newest one, always gets me KP. Didnt happen wtih other kernel.

Leo4allv4 updated to 10.5.5.

NF4 chipset,5 Gb of Ram, AMd 5000+ x2 CPU, radeon 3850 vga

I have had the same problem on iPC OSx86 10.5.6.

My system is GA-M57SLI-S4, 1GB DDR2, AMD 6000+, nvidia 6600 128MB, Voodoo 9.5.

I installed nforce LAN drivers from setup screen. It worked but it also gave me kernel panic now and then.

I don't know what solved my problem, but what I did was disable onboard LAN from BIOS (now using Relatek PCI card which is supported out of the box) and downloaded latest version of google earth. Afterwards, no problems at all.

Only thing still bugging me is system freeze after wake up from sleep.

I dont think that my problem is in the eno's nforce lan driver (i've solved that problem few pages back) because the problem is only with opening Google Earth, everything else works perfectly, including sleep :D

Type this in Terminal before starting google earth:

sudo sysctl -w hw.optional.patcher_opts=0

(assuming you have a prepatched AMD setup and not retail).

Do you still get the KP ?

It is best to boot using patcher_opts=0, however, or at least try this on a freshly booted system because sometimes OS X caches the binary images.

Solved the problem!

Thanx once again :(

you should check your /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist, maybe it points to mach_kernel.voodoo instead of mach_kernel.

Anyway, you can also type mach_kernel over darwin bootloader to test if the new kernel works for you.

The installer does not work for me. It looks like it goes through but when I do a "uname -a" after reboot it still shows 9.5 voodoo kernel. This is on a 10.5.6 Kalyway install on a X7DAL-E Supermicro board. :)

You must select the currently booted up disk in the Installer otherwise it won't install properly. Sorry this is a bug in PackageMaker which we'll try to work around in a later release.

Hey thanks for the tip;that's exactly what it was. Now of course I tested mounting a dmg and got a kp so can someone upload or pm/email me a copy of their seatbelt.kext from 10.5.6?Thanks a lot in advance!

Solved the problem!

Thanx once again -_-

Good, thanks for narrowing it down. Please file a bug report on Google Code, clearly indicate that it's an Opcode Patcher bug, include the screenshot and any extra info about your hardware and set it to High priority.

That'll make sure we fix it for next release.

I have a Pentium M 740 (1,73Ghz) on my Notebook (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M3438G), I try iPC 10.5.6 but a KP stop the boot.

it's Voodoo Kernel 9.5.0.

Hi Raid13,

did you find a solution for it ? I did not see any post replies to yours.

Thx

I'm having random kernel panics..

here's two of them

i'm using 10.5.6 (10.5.5 voodoo kernel, 10.5.5 system.kext, 10.5.5 seatbelt.kext)

CPU: Q6600

MB: Gigabyte X38-DQ6

4 GB RAM

7900GS

Look earlier in the thread to see how someone else fixed panics with Parallels.

You can try booting with maxmem=2048 and see if it helps.

If it does, maybe you have a kernel extension or two that is allergic to more than 2GB RAM.

From the first screenshot it looks like the IDE controller.

There's a bunch of fixed IDE controller extensions here that will work with +2GB RAM:

Let me put it to you in a different way.

AFAIK having 4GB RAM requires all your running kernel extensions to be 64-bit compatible.

If this is why it's crashing, you can boot with maxmem=2048 (to avoid kernel panics) and check the extension version numbers in System Profiler or do 'get info' on the kexts in L/S/E.

If some are really old (and they are actually loaded, check system profiler) chances are they are the ones causing kernel panics and you need to look for newer versions.

No you just need PAE which is already enabled in Voodoo or vanilla.

The crashes are because you are using old kexts written or compiled from sources written during 10.1 / 10.2 time.

More info is here http://lists.apple.com/archives/darwin-dri...p/msg00004.html

i have the same KP with maxmem=2048

and i have that .kext installed

This is a KP situation that you guys might take a look into it.

I don't know why. But I was using voodoo kernel 9.5.0 well.

My system is i7/GA EX58-UD5 with HD3870 which has never had a problem.

After i changed the graphic card to 9800GTX+, KP has happend 3 times after 10 min. of rebooting.

I think I'm going back to HD3870 for a while.

'Hope it can help you guys to make better...

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Here is my kernel panic using voodoo.

The hardware setup is an Acer Aspire One 150, HT enabled with bootflag cpus=2. It is connected to an external monitor. Running 10.5.5. Mirror is not enabled, the tv is being used as the main monitor (vga out). It works fine till when i open itunes and try to play a song. Then it kernel panics immediately everytime with this:

dsc00073bl1.jpg

mercurysquad there is a prevision of the release date of Voodoo XNU 9.6.0 kernel?

End of the month probably. Sorry it's been a busy month for me and likely will stay so ...
