MobileMe, App Store, iPhone 2.0, iTunes 7.7

Numberzz

In a surprising act of earliness, Apple has taken MobileMe, the App Store, and firmware 2.0 online. Mobile me was taken online after last night when Apple released the MobileMe updater for OS X that replaced all references to .Mac with MobileMe.

Apple has also released iTunes 7.7, which has support for iPhone OS 2.0, App Store Applications, and the ability to be controlled by the "Remote" application that is available on the App Store. iTunes 7.7 is available through Software Update.

iPhone OS 2.0 Build 2A347 (download link) is now available and has all the Exchange and other features that everyone has wanted for the iPhone for so long now.

App Store:

Finally! We can all download 3rd party applications for the iPhone with no h4x0r1ng required! The App Store is hidden from iTunes, but, if you search the Application name in iTunes, it will show up. You can also access the App Store from the App Store application on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Good news! When you download an Application from your iPhone, it syncs back up to your iTunes library.

EDIT: I see at least 4 apps that are available that you can download from Installer: Sketches, Band, Superpong, and Trism.

Really? Well just wait until the EU gets to know this - it ain't legal :censored2:

Yeah, for real.

That's the most prominent Apple reseller in Belgium, went to see them this morning, everything has long since been sold out :')

Anyway, what it says on their website:

Zit er een SIM-lock op een Belgische iPhone? Werkt hij met elke SIM-kaart?

A. Je kan de Belgische iPhone met elke Belgische SIM-kaart gebruiken, maar niet met een buitenlandse. Je betaalt dan het gebruikelijke tarief voor bellen en SMS'en.

Translation:

Is there a SIM-lock present on the Belgian iPhone? Does it operate with any SIM-card?

A. You can use the Belgian iPhone with every Belgian SIM-card, but not with a foreign one. You pay the going rate for calling and texting.

So, no dice :D

Doesn't surprise me in the least though. From what I've read, basically the only country which has non-rip-off formula's, seems to be the UK, and to a tiny lesser extent The Netherlands. Ours aren't entirely too bad, but I'm not counting them since we don't get subsidized iPhones.

Anyway, I bet a lot of people would prefer to have a normal unlocked one, without having to sell of limbs and organs for one of those iPhone formula's in their country, which would wind up creating some sort of parallel import *-)

I'll have to give my iPod Touch an update then. I may as well remove the jailbreak and restore it to 1.1.4 firmware before updating, seeing as the App Store has pretty much fulfilled my needs.

With Exchange support and a better calculator to go along with the package, it'll be a $10 well spent.

Wonder why they don't put a redirect on the .mac site? Would end a lot of confusion. The system works great (except personal domain). Everythings a bit slow but I guess that's to be expected on the first day. Great job Apple

I'm on leopard on all my machines (2 hacks and a macbook) and I have not seen any MobileMe in Software Update. I've checked several times.

I'm in the Midwest US. Any ideas why I'm not seeing this update?

It seems that only people who installed this 1.0 version also see 1.1 via update. They reversed some things back like the email access, maybe to let people check their emails. We'll see what will happen next week. I think there will be a 1.2 available on Tuesday for all of us :-)

So two things,

first MobileMe is available for 10.5.4 and 10.4.11

so i bravely did my update on both my hackintoshes, using Kalyway 10.5.3 Combo Update + kernel, and then through system update to 10.5.4

the other thing is, did you guys notice that the "modmyifone" app is on there? (man, i wish they release the jailbreak soon)

Installed the 2.0 update, and I've gotta say, it's pretty good. The Remote application has just made me lazier.

Now all that Apple needs to do is create an application that lets you use your iPhone/Touch as a multi-touch trackpad.

That's great, but I'm on Tiger. Does anyone have anything for Tiger?

I'm awaiting one for Tiger too even though I don't have MobileMe or .Mac. I noticed that iTunes put a MobileMe icon in my Windows control panel :)

Seems like Apple is using iTunes to deliver "Mac on Windows" these days. iTunes, Quicktime, Update, all linked together lol.

They should rename iTunes to something else if this goes on haha. Son of Yellow Box? :(

Apple, what is going on?

I installed MobileMe on my $799 Windows XP and Windows Vista machines, and it works flawlessly with Windows Address Book and all those Microsoft apps, very cool.

On my other 2 Macs ($1499 & $2799) I have been unable to sync, connect, or anything else related to MobileMe. Even my mail is not working. What is going on Apple?

What the hell is 'teh'...why can't you stupid faggots learn how to spell.

Here is your answer {censored}:

Teh is an English article based on a common misspelling of the. Originating from a common typographical error, this typo became a part of Internet slang and subsequently developed grammatical usages distinct from the. When used in spoken language, it is sometimes pronounced tʰəh or tʰe.

T and E are typed by the left hand on adjacent fingers in Qwerty, while the H is typed by the right, and in rapid typing, the T and E are often typed by the left hand in a drumming motion before the right can get the H in between the two.

Originating from the common typo, teh has become conventionalized in a variety of contexts. It is often used ironically, and can be used to mock someone's lack of techie knowledge or skills, as an insult, or to reinforce a group's elitism.

As slang, grammatical usage of the word teh is somewhat fluid. Besides being an alternate spelling of the, teh also has grammatical properties not generally applied to the; in general, it is used somewhat like an intensified "the". The spelling derived from a typographical mistake seen as the symptom of excitement, much the same as the interjection of the numeral one between exclamation marks. It can be used with proper names, as in "teh John;" compare the usage of the definite article in Greek: ο Ιωαννης (o Ioannes), literally "The John". Furthermore, teh can be used in front of a verb in a novel form of gerund, and it has the ability to turn nearly any word into an intensified noun, which can take the place of a superlative. The best-known example of this is the word suck. Thus, the phrase "this sucks" can be converted into "this is teh suck" ("teh suck" being equivalent to the superlative "the suckiest").

Teh has a similar use as an intensifier for unmodified adjectives, generally marking a sarcastic tone. For example, "that is teh lame" translates as "that is the lamest".
