  1. anyone have any ideas?
  2. Hi, I'm trying to install Snow Leopard 10A432 on my Compaq Presario C762nr notebook. I have a nearly perfect install of 10.5 on one partition. I've tried following every tutorial, but nothing seems to get me past this kernel panic (pic shown at bottom). I can't even do single user mode! I've tried everything, and I can't seem to figure it out. Can anyone help me?
  3. MobileMe, App Store, iPhone 2.0, iTunes 7.7

That's great, but I'm on Tiger. Does anyone have anything for Tiger?
  4. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

Okay, so far, we know that the cards are CAPABLE of running QE/CI. We just need a proper plugin. If we compare the PPC plugin with the Intel one, What exactly would have to be changed in to make the PPC one work with Intel systems?
  5. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

Well, As far as my x600 card goes, it's more than capable of running QE/CI. The only hurdle is getting the extensions to render the graphics properly. As far as writing an extension myself, I could give it a try, provided that I get some help, as I don't have much knowledge of that. Believe it or not, I only started using macs a few months ago. I'm suprised how fast I picked up what I know now, so anything's possible. Believe me, I would not be going through all this if I could just buy a Mac. I'm sure others would agree with me. Since I can't afford one, I can only make do with a PC. I tell you, Macs are a worse drug than heroin... Anyway, if anyone wants to enlighten me on what I would have to do too create a kext/driver for my x600, or if there's any other way I can help, please don't hesitate to tell me. Thanks!
  6. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

Great! Will you still be wanting my kexts?
  7. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

Probably. My Mobility Radeon x600 has to be recognized as a PCIe.
  8. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

i should also mention that some the things that rely on QE/CI, such as cover flow, and the ripple effect whenever you open a dashboard widget, seem to be invisible. I even tried playing a DVD-- it plays, but you can't see any picture. This could explain why the menu bar is fully transparent. Someone will have to figure out how to fix the rendering of these effects. As pippocal said: >>5. modify ATIRadeon9700GLDriver.bundle (version 10.5.1): >>a. remove ATIRadeon9700GLDriver inside ATIRadeon9700GLDriver.bundle. The path is Contents/MacOS>>b. copy ATIRadeonX100GLDriver (version 10.5.1) in the directory where you have delete the ATIRadeon9700GLDriver and rename as ATIRadeon9700GLDriver ( the internal path is the same Contents/MacOS ) 1: As far as I know, I have no idea if the kexts inside (besides the GLDriver) are from Tiger.2: I applied BOTH the Koverg and Callisto patches, respectively. As far as I know, it shouldn't matter if you have 10.5 of 10.5.1. Make sure that the other Radeon kexts are from TIGER, which is how I did it. I tried to put my device ID into the x1000 kext, and got a panic. Either I did it wrong, or it just won't work that way.Aslo, i'm not up-to-date on what each build number goes to which OS, but I just used the x1000 kext that I already had in Leopard.
  9. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

GOOD NEWS #2!!! First off, thanks to yunjing for clearing up what he said earlier as best he could. It let me to my second success: From the link above, I got a website written in Chinese. Using Google Language Tools, I translated it to English, and gathered this information: 1: In addition to my steps (using Tiger kexts, Callisto 003, and the ATIRadeon9700GLDriver.bundle from 9a321), the site said to do this: A: Go into /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ and pull out the driver. B: Rename it ATIRadeon9700GLDriver and replace the driver in /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeon9700GLDriver.bundle/Contents/MacOS/. (I still used the 9a321 GLDriver) C: Delete ATINDVR.kext 2: As yunjing said before, Download Natit_ATIauto.kext.zip from HERE and replace your Natit.kext with the one inside. 3: After repairing permissions, deleting the Extensions.mkext, an rebooting, I got this: proof2.tiff As you can see, CI is now Hardware Accelerated, and QE is supported! The only issues are that the GUI is still sluggish, some of the features, like Cover Flow still don't work right, and the menu bar is COMPLETELY transparent. Again, thanks to everyone, including yunjing for the help! All that's left is to get it to work as close to perfect as possible! NOTE: I will do my best to try and help anyone to get to where I am. However, I am not a true hacker. I simply know how to follow directions from other's tutorials and advice, and how to put two and two together. Like many of you, I just want a working Mac OS X on my PC. All credit should go to others who actually figured out the mechanics of it. Thank you for your help! Also, to anyone fluent in reading Chinese: if you can gather any other info from the sites I mentioned, please don't hesitate to share with us.
  10. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

UPDATE!!! After some testing, I figured out how I got QE working, and others can't-- I used TIGER kexts! Specifically, I used: ATIRadeon9700.kext ATIRadeon9700DVDDriver.bundle ATIRadeon9700GA.plugin ATIRadeon9700VADriver.bundle ATIRadeonDVDDriver.bundle ATIRadeonGA.plugin ATIRadeonGLDriver.bundle-- ALL FORM TIGER! ATIRadeon9700GLDriver.bundle-- from build 9a321! When I tried using the patched Leopard kexts, I got the black/blue screen. Apparently the problem lies in other kexts as well...
  11. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

I started with 10.5. Make sure that your permissions are fixed and that the Extensions.mkext is deleted before you reboot.
  12. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

Here are the files I used: koverg_patch9700_v0.2.zip Callisto_zd8000.zip (003) As for the driver, I can't upload it onto here because it's too big. Just PM me, and I'll e-mail it to yo Then you can distribute amongst yourselves as you wish. Good luck to everyone!
  13. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

Excellent news on my end, with some mixed results. First , the good... With my Mobility Radeon x600, I installed Leopard normally, applied the koverg patch, installed the Callisto drivers, then replaced my ATIRadeon9700GA.bundle with one that someone e-mail'd me. Here's the result... proof.tiff The great news is, QE is working. I can now use DVD player and such. The bad thing is, as you can see, I still only have CI enabled as software, and my menu bar isn't transparent. The other bad thing is the GUI is even more sluggish than without QE/CI. Anybody have any ideas? We're almost there! It IS possible!

  15. ATIRadeon9700 Patch?

Anybody use a Mobility Radeon x600? Also, has anybody considered modifying other Radeon kexts to work with this card?
