  1. I am having a related issue: I'm running a Core i5-450M with VMWare Workstation 7.1.1. Whenever I close my laptop's lid and the system goes to sleep, the VM issues a "CPU has been disabled" message. I am on 10.6.4 without the CPUID patch to the VMX file. Have you guys any insights?
  2. Asus 1201N Installation and support

I had to install LidSleep to get mine to go to sleep when I closed the lid. Without LidSleep, it behaved exactly as you request -- if I closed the lid, the screen would turn off, but the machine would not sleep.

Got some success with the ethernet lockup problem. I'm running the Atherosl1cethernet.kext and having trouble with the machine locking up during large file transfers over the wired ethernet port. I started playing with the settings for the NIC in System Preferences and was able to get large transfers to occur with no lockups repeatedly by lowering the MTU to 750. I tried raising it back to 1400 (max is 1500) and while the lockups were'nt as frequent, they still occurred. So, I dropped it back to 750. I'm sure there's some "ideal" setting here that if I played with it long enough, I could get the max MTU possible without lockups, but I'm happy with the setting I've got for now. Just wanted to pass on the success I had, so that others may benefit. I could not find anything on this when I searched.
  4. Asus 1201N Installation and support

I figured it out. I was not using the version of NetBookInstaller that was in the guide. I didn't realize it was customized. Might want to edit the post to make that more clear in the guide that you need to get that specific version. I have now spent the last several hours getting the ethernet to wake up after sleep by using SleepWatcher. Unfortunately, I had to grant sudoer permission on kextload and kextunload with no password in order for my rc.sleep and rc.wakeup scripts to work. So, now I just need to get my Dell Wifi card and I'm set!

OK. I'm stumped. I've reinstalled several times following post #1 and I get the same results. Everything goes fine until I try to install the 10.6.4 Combo update. When I run the update, it does the whole update, but during the "moving files into place" phase, it gives an error (with no details) saying that it could not complete the update. When I next reboot the machine, it comes up to the dekstop background, but finder/dock never loads. It just cycles through a beachball for about 15 seconds, then a mouse pointer for 4-5 seconds.. As I write this, it's been doing this for ab out 45 minutes. No chance that it's going to boot. I'm assuming that the combo update failing while moving the files into place has something to do with this. I'm going to reinstall (for the 5th time) and leave it at 10.6.0 to see if it boots normally. Please offer ideas. I'd like to be able to get the current updates.
  6. OK - What gives with the "no audio input" stuff?

What? NO ideas or theories? Wow.
  7. This may have already been answered and discussed somwhere else, but the search here stinks, and I even tried google with not very good results. I have built many OSX86 boxes over the last few years, starting with Uphuck, JaS, Kalyway and now XxX. I've used a variety of sound hardware in these machines. *none* of them have been able to get audio input working. Is there some wierd voodoo going on here that prevents audio input from working on all but USB devices and chipsets that appear in real Macs? What are the options? I put a USB sound on my wife's Hacintosh, but I've recently converted my work Laptop to OSX86, and well, USB sound on a laptop just seems clunky.. The chipset in that machine is the AD1984. Has anyone had any success with that family of chipsets?
  8. Leopard Laptops with NON-working GMA X3100

Update: I was able to solve my problem by going into my laptop's BIOS and changing the display init. It was set to LCD+VGA, and I switched it to boot the internal GFX adapter only. When OSX came up, all was well, I had the extra monitor working. During my testing, I tried mirrored displays, and it really messed things up. However, since I got the multiple monitors work, I've not tried it; I don't use that function, and well, I don't want to mess it up. I installed the XxX 10.5.6 and then used slashack's kext set.

Does anyone have this file? Rapidshare killed it after 10 DLs and I don't have access to the source media right now to extract them with Pacifist.
  10. I, too, would like to see this work in bridged mode. My work Laptop is a Lenovo R61 7737-A42, and I can get VMWare to work in NAT mode, but I'd rather it be able to connect to my work network natively through bridging. It works acceptably as NAT, but I want to be able to direct some incoming traffic to my VM, and well, NAT just complicates things. I've already had to resort to using a PCCARD Wifi Nic since the iwi3945 drivers are incomplete. I'd like to have at least ONE of my NICs fully functional! Thanks for all your work on this project, else I would have nothing at all, let alone the bridging issue. Has *anyone* had success in bridged mode?
  11. any update on this? I see that's its listed as "indefinately"now, but is there some idea of when? I've got 2 SB Audigy cards waiting here for drivers!
  12. Time Machine doesn´t work

2 things: 1) Your answer can be found here. 2) if you had gone into the 10.5 section (read the stickies!) you would have found this as the first item listed.
  13. I can't imagine that a Core Duo would fail, when some of us are running Pentium Ds or the Atom CPU, which is like a Core Solo. Just about every other Intel Processor works. I haven't built a Core Duo Hack thought, so I can't say with certainty. I'm sure the HCL at osx86project.org would tell you.
  14. I'm on leopard on all my machines (2 hacks and a macbook) and I have not seen any MobileMe in Software Update. I've checked several times. I'm in the Midwest US. Any ideas why I'm not seeing this update?
