A study of over 7500 people showed that Mac users actually think very differently than their PC counterparts. The study itself showed that, in fact, Mac users were more liberal, less modest, and "and more assured of their own superiority than the others of the population." Yes, that last bit is true. It seems that Mac users are more receptive to feelings, so that they can feel joy and sadness more intensely. Also, the research firm said that people who are open minded are more than 60% more likely to buy a Mac.

As a mac user, I take offence to that.

These study results actually do seem logical. AND. I am not {censored}. +1 to what Tetrasoft said.

I'd also take offense to some idiot website calling all of us {censored} :(

Without trying to sound like an idiot. I think it is the "nature"-part of Apple's pr-strategy that appeals to this kind of people. Whats Apple's logo? An Apple! What do you connect the Clownfish when you see one? iPhone!

Whats Apple's newest product? Right, a MacBook Air

Well, Microsoft uses a simple "Microsoft" word as their logo.. without the 4-colored-flag Windows wouldnt be Windows, hehe. But this has nothing to do with nature. Its a bit dry if i may say.

Im not an Apple user. But i must say after trying Tiger on my notebook-pc i must say the OS appeals to me!

In the end I would classify myself to the users who are more receptive to feelings but not to the superior ones!

As far as i know there are also very much artists using MacOS what backs up my theory (look one post above for example. Well ok, he hasnt got anything published... but that will surely follow, hehe) :D

PS: No, I'm not {censored}

I highly doubt there is any real correlation between being a Mac User and how intensely you feel emotions or how open you are. Why can't studies just focus on what is actually a plausible statement as per their sample size? Especially when it has to do with something that is quite polarizing like Apple products. As far as i can tell, people either hate them or love them.

as an owner of both a real mac, a hack, and a couple of pc's. I can't agree with this article. I don't feel any more "superior" now that i have a mac then before...

@welz: Right, thats an important part i left out in my post. I agree with you.

It things like this that kind of make me sick, and {censored} me off. If a computer and its OS determines how you act, then you need to go outside for awhile. I just hate it how people think they're better than others like this.

Ha, ha, good one. I consider these "studies" utter BS, though. No offense to those who might actually believe in it. People cannot be defined or categorized based on such a ridiculous thing as their choice of OS, IMO.

Is 60% even that good of a statistic?

"More liberal, and less modest?"

Isn't that a contradiction of "more assured of their own superiority than the others of the population?"

Really now.

Will the next survey say all Linux users have deep seeded intentions of taking over the world someday?

I really don't know why everyone is taking this so seriously. It's just a study, I thought it was kinda funny and I thought that other people would join in on it's hilarity. But no, we have to fight about how it's wrong. It's a study, there has to be at least some margin of error.

I was also wondering about that.

Which kind of brains do typical Linux users have? ;)

(My definition of "typical" does not include those who try Linux because it is fashionable, keep complaining all the time how difficult it is, and in the end go back to Windows).

If you're completely Open-Minded, then you are Close-Minded to Close-Mindedness.

So if you were a long time Windows user does that mean those "more liberal, less modest, and and more assured of their own superiority" feelings/attitude were being suppressed all those years until they switched or they were developed after becoming a Mac user? :P

Woah now, I think you may have misunderstood.

It's not saying that the OS determines how you act, it's just saying that people who use this particular OS just happen to be more open minded than people who use a different OS. It's not that the OS has an effect on our personality, more like our personality has an effect on what OS we use. Make sense?

Well, a large majority of Mac users I know are {censored} :P

I guess this kinda backs up Apple's 'Think Different' advert :P

This study is lame. How the {censored} do you study something like that and come up with results like this? Mac user's brains are different, yes:

When Apple charges $3,000 for a $2,000 computer, the mac users buy them anyway!

Clearly this study just proves what we all know already - Mac users are better, and PC users have a harder time admitting they are wrong.

I strongly agree.

"I'm a mac and I think PC's are inferior."

"I'm a PC and frankly don't give a {censored}"

Maybe PC users have an elevated state of mind?
