With 18 seconds worth of soundless video, not much is known. When we see a 5th generation iPod video with coverflow on it, well, a firmware update is expected. With no more known information, you be the judge of YouTube’s latest leaked iPod video and tell us what you think.

Likely fake (I'll be the first to say it!), but well done.

mmmm looks real to me, but then again, it could be a video playing on his iPod. Although, i dont think so since he pressed buttons. But who knows?

Fake or Not...I still find it impressive and cool...

Would not be a surprise though, considering what things like ipodlinux can do...

Well, I must say it looks very convincing. I doubt there will be a firmware update for the iPod Photo with this feature though... :)

Yea, I would agree with you on that Sabr. I think all 5th generations will be capable of it, but nothing more.

Anyone who wants to try to fake this:

Set up the screensaver hack for the video.

Set a video of coverflow as it.

Before the video starts, go to the album you wish to and at in cverflow.

wait for the screensaver to activate

Place thumb slightly above the clickwheel.

Memorize the way it moves.

Get a camera person

while the video is playing, move your thumb as you memorized, all while being videotaped

when it gets to the end where you click on the album and it goes to it, press the select button (the one in the middle) and it should go to the album you selected before.

Congrats, youve got a faked coverflow on video.

PUT IT ON YOUTUBE!!!!

Its a fake. Check the first second of the video. there is a slight lag of "coverflow" as he starts the video and tries to anticipate it scrolling.

damn I just noticed that myself, I wanted the credit for finding it

EDIT: If this is real, thats a normal 5G ipod (not 5.5g) see the headphones in the back, but that could be an old pair

Within the first second I wouldn't call it real hard evididnce, but this whole concept is a little iffy to begin with.

it could just be slow, but i think it might be fake

I don't think this is real. If it was, why only 18 seconds? Why not a detailed 1 minute video?

I'm betting this is a fake.

i think its fake too because the delayed start .And like other have said, why is it so short ?

So you have an 5g ipod but you dont have enought space/time in the camera to shoot a decent 1 minute video with more than just move his thumb.

At least its an effort to make news ,besides we all know that the next ipod will be a mulltitouch screen screen one, and knowing Apple they wont release an update for the older models , they just have to make the new multitouch and sell it to you as a different product no a firmware update.

Now thats what i think

After watching it for like the 10th time, the "flow" of the covers isnt very sensitive to his finger. If I scroll through my music on an iPod, it's not going through it at equal speeds like it does here.

This would be cool, but realistically Apple would never include anything that major in a firmware update. Even if the guy did manage to rehearse the motions of his fake coverflow video a little better, I wouldn't have believed it.

More than likely, it's a faked video, and he's got his iPod locked. Then, he can press all the buttons he wants, and no one knows any better.

That'd be the easiest way. Why not?

What I really want instead of this "showy" is some ******* flac support.

Don't people know that ALAC is the same as FLAC expect capable of being put on iPods? Lossless formats don't sound different no matter what kind of enthusiast you are.

I don't get why somebody would need another lossless format if iTunes is their hub and they own an iPod.

You need better equipment or clean your ears out ;)

You'd probably say a 4gig DVD looks the same as a 350mb avi, right?

Of course it does ;)

I've had troubles understanding hearing the differences between an 8mb audio file and a 40mb file but w/e.

Replay the intro several times... watch his thumb move and the screen not... :)

12 seconds into it, watch the screen jerk awkwardly forward when he goes from coverflow to the iPod interface...

Yeah, you are right at some point! But if it's a fake movie, than he's a great "thumb actor"! He knows every part of the movie almost perfectly!
