Damn, I'm also having the no Keybord and no Trackpad problem, well actually the keyboard works until I click on the trackpad...

Anyone has a fix for this? I tried to copy ApplePS2Controller.Kext with no sucess. :P

I'm on an Acer Travelmate 4001 LMi (1.5GHz Centrino).

well well well...

after my somewhat successful installation of 10.4.3 on my Sony Vaio FS115M (no audio, no wireless, stuck at 1024 res), I got myself this new patched beauty.

after fiddling around with different recordables and write speed, I'm finally in the process of installing, and behold: it's actually doing an automated update installation of my 10.4.3 install right at the moment! SWEET! (should have tried this while actually booting into MAC OS X, did boot from DVD instead...)

I guess I still won't have audio (it's actually some Realtek/Intel HDA stuff) and still no native resolution on my 6200go, but DAMN the previous install went SO smooth and the system was SO fast and stable, I'm absolutely sure my next buy will be the "real" thing, a MacBook Pro!

yes, I'm gonna be switching, and maybe that's the real deal why Apple has done such a weak security implementation, as it seems to me (still kudos to maxxuss of course, you're the greatest!)

still some time until install is done, gonna check back how it's doing, but one thing's for sure: I want a MAC :hysterical:

I'm gonna buy macBook pro as soon as the second versions will be avaible, i was waiting for that very long time ;) it's a pitty that there is no 12" macbook pro :hysterical: i love the 12" stuff from apple :) i have had iBook G3 than PB 1,2 GHZ G4, right now i do not have any laptop cause i was waiting for 12" intel m ac or g5 mac, .ehhh

you name it, I just love these small and lightweight 12" babies with a decent resolution, as portable as it gets!

this sony here is a monster with its 15,4" screen... which, in addition, has big black bars all around it because of that damn missing nvidia driver. by the way, still installing/updating...

nah, in a way it's nice to see that this MAC OS X runs smoother on my laptop than most linux flavors I tried before, but damn, I'm gonna be selling my soul to Steve Jobs and finally getting myself a MacBook.

I guess i might still be dual-booting on my desktop AMD machine (if only for the games), but honestly for the portable side, I'll gladly get rid of windows XP completely

my pc is a pentium 660, motherboard intel D915GUXLK and it runs 10.4.3. great (and fast too), my question is, can i upgrade booting 10.4.3. and run the DVD as another program installation instead of the maxxuss method upgrade, or, make a clean installation booting from DVD, what is the best way....oops sorry antoher question, does 10.4.5 Prepatched DVD works with SSE3 processor like mine.....

Can't wait till Marvell Onboard Network support is added....

BTW... My processor show up as 3.7ghz..... its only a 1.8ghz.... whats up with that?

Whats the best way you'd reccomend me moving my Mac install over to My 300gb drive from my 10Gb? Partiton magic? I need to move it because My powesupply insnt exactally big enough to power both drives and my 2 dvd drives, It likes to cut out my hard drive usually my 300gb....While I am using windows....Most annoying thing ever.... Your browsing around and then all of a sudden everything freezes.... so you reboot only to find that It see only the 10gb. Ah well atleast I got enough space on my 300 to spare. Everythings fine now that I removed my 2nd drive. I know it cant be the jumper settings, my Mobo is very picky and wont boot if they are wrong.

And the Macvidia Project didnt work for me T_T their kext didnt load! WAHHH

honestly for the portable side, I'll gladly get rid of windows XP completely

in my opinion Apple should start selling the system as a separate product, i would pay the money for it to have the fully working and legal copy in my company, on ma clients desktops and on my own laptop/desktop. Windows gests more and more slow and unstable, a lots of worms viruses. nasty stuff. on my mashine the newest (official and legal) version of 64 bit win xp is working like on the maschine with 700 MHz P III with 256 mb of ram (my sister has my old desktop with winxp pro on it) nothing is working good even on a clean system stright afther instalation, when i'm booting to osx 10.4.3 its like a bless for me really fast sytem and stable as well as XP or even more (sometimes it was rebooting while using audigy 2 nx, now it stoped  )

cheers, im downloading the 10.4.4-10.4.5 iso but the download is so f***#$@$ slow noone is seeding normaly

@toleman: with the SSE3, there seems to be no problem as SSE3 instructions only get emulated by the patch when the CPU can't handle them AFAIK. updating worked for me with a native boot from the DVD-R, and seems that it can also be done from within MAC OS X, I checked right now. the DVD is identified as a install disk and you can start the install directly.

@cybertronic: I *guess* this could be done with Norton Ghost, as you want to mirror your HFS partition to a new HD....

well, {censored} in a bag and punch it, I just started my upgraded MAC OS with all the boot messages showing, and he actually tried to load a lot of nvidia stuff like NVDA* and geforce kext, but found no matching hardware ID strings! it actually tried to load a kext labeled with NV40, that's the family name of my 6200 (NV43)! is that already known???

The only issue I found with this 4.5 updated release is that it forced my cpu to use only sse2

I have reinstalled with a patched dvd I made from the intel autodvdpatcher and it seems to have fixed the sse3 issue.

If you have an sse3 cpu run this command in the terminal

and post your result

sysctl -n machdep.cpu.features | grep SSE3 | wc -l

with myzars dvd I receved a 0 as the result

With the intel autodvdpatcher I receved a 1 as the result

P.S,Myzar this is nothing against you or your great patches or work, just an issue I found.

P.P.S The issue was first pointed out to me by Spaz.

I'm tempted to isntall 1 of the ONLY 5 games available on the mac.... Starcraft.....

(other 4 being Halo Mac, WarCraft, Diablo, Diablo 2) You know.... if Mac did go through with their Redbox project... developers would just stop Making mac softaware like when the Developers stopped making software for OS/2 BUT you would have a nice clean stable shell to run {censored} windoze programs in!

Can i repair it with maxxuss instructions(patch 1.0a) ,replacing the kernel?

I tried,I removed the sse3 emulation from the kernel and tried to load it,Got commpage not found panic.I tried everything before I built the other dvd.Nothing would work. That dvd makes your install sse2 only.

Hey alll... I thought I'd help out the community with a HowTo (It's not that bad ;)). So if anyone has trouble booting the DVD, I recommened you try a VMWare to Native installation. Guide can be found here:

ops!

System Preferences > Startup Disk

crash!

Any idea to fix it m8s?

I have had this same problem.

I also tried to boot from the install dvd (myzar) and set the startup disk from there - the os on the hd showed up and it seemed to work but when rebooting - it still needed the dvd to boot. I would love to boot without the dvd!

Help!

Jas,

Here are my results:

So are we gonna see this seeded?

I think that the main problem is that kernel uses cpuid patch which tell that is using sse2 and not sse3.

Posted by myzar 6 days and 9 hours ago:

It's a cosmetic bug caused by the cpuid kernel fix, it's enabled just doesn't show up. If it bothers you change the kernel with one without the cpuid patch

Posted by myzar 6 days and 4 hours ago

Yes it's cosmetic, the hardware info module gives nuts results because wasn't supposed to work at all without efi .

About the kernel theres a folder in dvd maxxuss solution 1.0 there you'll find the original kernel name mach_kernel.orig and a folder with all the patches you can apply to it with ppf o'matic . Copy both on the hd and you can experiment around . To change the kernel open a terminal

su

type in password

mv /your_folderwith_the_new_kernel/mach_kernel /mach_kernel.old

cp mach_kernel.orig /mach_kernel

keep in mind if that the kernel doesn't fit your hardware you'll get a nice panic and you'll have to boot from the dvd to restore the old one

Guys, as myzar has said, it IS being used... It just doesn't show up... Why are you bothered? :)

Oh, and FreeSoftwareMan, could you make your signature any bigger, please? :P

Cool, That is good to know. Now all I need is a way to fix this:

Machine Name: Mac -----------------> I edited the SPMachineTypes.plist to depict an iMac. This used to be <string>Apple Development Platform</string>. Now it is <string>iMac</string>

Machine Model: ADP2,1 ---------------> In the the same .plist right above what used to be<string>Apple Development Platform</string> you find the <key>ADP2,1</key> which I have changed to <key>iMac2,1</key> thinking that the profiler would also update this and report it as a mac and not an ADP2 (stands for Apple Development Platform 2). Can someone tell me why the profiler did update the string but not the key?

Is it possible to do a clean install with this DVD on a machine that 10.4.3 (jas patched dvd) installed perfectly, without any other system pre-installled?
