I have put together this simple little guide for anybody wanting to use a Patched DSDT EFI with the same configuration as me. This is also a thread to discuss everything Z390 Master and try and help where we can and maybe make things a little better for you. A huge massive thank you to @glasgood @MaLd0n @larabee These three guys have helped me and talked me so much and are as helpful as you could ever get, Without them I wouldn't have a perfect working build like I do or be putting up this Guide & Discussion Thread sharing the hard work and countless hours that we have all put in to this. This EFI and Patched DSDT have been created to work with a Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Master using bios revision F11L, 9900k with a 5700 XT but has also been tested and verified fully working with the following Hardware CPU's 8600K, 8700, 8700K, 9400K, 9600K, 9700K, 9900K, 9900KS (All KF Models work but use SMBios iMacPro1,1 instead) GPU's RX 560, 570, 580, 590, Vega 56, Vega 64, Radion VII, RX 5500, 5500 XT, 5600, 5600 XT, 5700, 5700 XT (If you have success with any different CPU or GPU's then please do let me know) @glasgood Has kindly put together a new simple Catalina install guide so Just Follow He's Guide For a Perfect Install. I've been using Clover with only fakesmc.kext and AppleIntelE1000e.kext for years. Now, I am forced to use Lilu.kext and WEG 1.3.4 in order for my AMD rx580 to boot Catalina 10.15.1. I thought AMD gpu are supposed to work out of the box with macOs. Sad!

Confirmed working, after reinstalling newer WEG version, blackscreen issue with AMD Vega 56 resolved, thanks!

I think on APFS, they are using Prebooter path instead, I had my custom entries work fines with default scan policy.

If you wanna give the new WEG (beta) build a chance to see if it fixes the boot to black screen issue, here's one I just cooked. If you're testing this, you shouldn't need to use agdpmod=pikera as boot flag anymore. Please, don't use it directly on your main system until you test it on a USB drive! I've added a beta build of Lilu, as well, in case you need it. But chances are it might work with the live version of it, as well. I can't test it right now, so if you wanna give it a shot, here it is. Lilu 1.3.9 & WEG 1.3.4.zip

Ha-ha. Native Apple Bless protocol works 100%. Tried to update your AMI firmware with Apple ROM It happened because of outdated Apple Boot ROM version in OpenCore. Either you use outdated BIOSVersion with Automatic-false in PlatformInfo->SMBIOS, or (if you use Automatic=true) BIOSVersion in OpenCore sources are outdated.

@MacPato™ HFSPlus is proprietary and not licensed for redistribution, but superiour performing @obus I have heard the LE recommendation a bunch but never once a satisfying argument for that. We recommend injection especially looking into the future and in regards to SIP state.

odd. was your HDD blank? i remember seeing something like this once and it was because of Microsoft in the ESP. I wonder if that is the issue. i installed on spinning disk too to test out. and then copied from HDD to SSD (my ssd has smart issues - dying slowly)

GA-Z170X needed the WEG beta 1.3.4 to fix black screen HP EliteBook G2 840 updated, no issues. HP EliteDesk G1 800 updated, no issues.

I have now updated The EFI again for Catalina 10.15.1 to stop the system going to a black screen at install. You are now totally safe to update Catalina Using This EFI. Updated 30/10/2019 - Use with Bios revision F11 Only (Catalina 10.15.1 Vega, Navi, Radeon VII DSDT Installed) - Use with Bios revision F11 Only (Catalina 10.15.1 RX5XX DSDT Installed) PLEASE NOTE - Please flash your motherboard bios to revision F11 to use my current EFI. It’s a major rework of the bios and vital changes have been made to the layout and power tables. New DSDTs have been created and installed into the new EFI’s but will not work correctly with any other bios revision. Latest Gigabyte Z390 PRO BIOS (F11)

Thank you! It's a very nice tool. But...it still can't download an installer of build 19B86a. Only 19B77a. But great tool, nonetheless.

Remove WEG it works for me. I think we will need a new weg 1.3.4 there is a beta around there.

VGA related, just the regular DSDT rename of GFX0 to IGPU. Other than that, nothing that would even closely relate to the 5700 XT card. The only boot arg I have set is the agdpmod=pikera. [EDIT] I booted without the agdpmod arg above, and yes, that too gave me a black screen. Make sure you are running a newer Clover (mine is r5097) and have latest Lilu (1.3.9) and WEG (1.3.3 or higher). Yeah, I too had a complete garbled screen that remind me the old TVs with analog air channels, whenever the antenna cable was out - yeah, I'm that old... just let it doing its thing as I noticed the HDD light was still flashing, and it finished on its own.

If they are absent then for backward compatibility old behavior consumed. If present MaskFind Some bit =1 means source must be same as find string. =0 means source may have any bit. If MaskFind is not set then full string must be exactly as find string. MaskReplace Some bit =1 means this bit will be replaced by replace string. =0 means source bit remains untouched. If MaskReplace is not set then full string will be replace. Example (joke) If you want to find all occurrence of word "clever" or "Clever" and replace it to "clover" or "Clover" correspondingly then you have to choose the pattern Find 43 6c 65 76 65 72 MaskFind DF FF FF FF FF FF See 0xDF have bit 0x20 unset to not differ capital letter. Replace 43 6c 6f 76 65 72 MaskReplace 00 00 FF 00 00 00 So we set to replace only one letter. A mask len can be smaller then find/replace string. Zero will be assumed to fill the string. So for this example we can set MaskReplace 00 00 FF I thing we can use this method also for internal Clover patches like FakeCPUID to simplify patterns and make it more universal for future systems. FYI, take look at this thread if you haven't. Someone created a patch that seems to be working as far as giving the option to create a macOS guest on 15.5.
