Where is Maxxuss?

Swad

Maxxuss has disappeared. The sites he once updated with patches and materials are either outdated or offline. He has not visited our forum since March 18th. Letters are left unresponsive. It seems the man who was rapidly building his name as one of our time's most notorious hackers is simply gone.

So what happened? There have been several times in the past when he has been dormant or otherwise quiet – in these cases, we haven’t reported on it since it is normal for there to be a lull in the action. Sensationalism is something we try to keep to a minimum.

But this is more than an extended vacation. OS X 10.4.6 has come and gone… yet no word from the once-resident OSx86 hacker. Indeed, others have now taken his place in releasing patches for the new builds.

There are a few possibilities. It’s conceivable (although somewhat unlikely) that he simply decided to leave the hacking of OS X on PCs to others. He also could have been hired by Apple. Or sued. Or jailed.

What’s most surprising is that we have heard nothing in so long. Granted, hiring and arresting are both good reasons to break communications, but the whole situation is somewhat odd. We haven’t even heard anything about his other hacking exploits, like we did when he broke the Skype-Intel collusion.

So wither Maxxuss? Who knows. He is a sterling example of a controversial figure – a Robin Hood loved by many and hated by some.

While the debate about your work rages on, Maxxuss, here’s hoping this article finds you well.

Hmm.... if 10.5 is really going to drop Mach, then Maxxuss maybe going to a spiritual isolation to get prepared for the new challenge...

or he just may have been abducted by aliens...

RA_WILL_KILL, you can't just post that and not explain. Seriously.

However, I can tell you that Maxxuss doesn't work for Apple, that the people who originally made the first crack didn't work for Apple, and that the DVDs that were leaked did not come from Apple. Just to clear up any conspiracy theories out there. :D

I for one think that Steve Jobs has too much pride to even think of letting Maxxuss work for apple. Besides maxxuss wasnt the original osx hacker/'s, if they were to hire him, they would of already hired the orginal osx86'ers.

I originally thought that maybe Myzar was Maxxuss. But after looking though things, Maxxuss's and Myzar's cracking methods are a little different different. In fact, updating a Maxxuss install using a Myzar update will usually break your installation.

Unless this is all done on purpose to throw people off track...

I doubt Maxxuss is in jail, working for Apple, abducted by aliens, or anything like that. He's among us still working, either underground or in broad view using a different name. Or if anything, maybe he's just... well... busy. He's got a life too.

Judging from the time period I wonder if Maxxus is a student... now is the time of year when you have to pull your grades up and get ready for your finals, final projects, and essays, etc.

Got a test tomorrow myself... and way to many research papers.

I think Maxxuss is 2 dudes. Close. Known each other their whole lives, at least for many years. 1 knows Windows and Linux. 1 knows Mac and Linux. Roomies at a college somewhere. Together they are The Max. The Ultimate.

Max Us.

Brilliant! That must be it! Now if only they would come out of hiding. I think we'll see them around WWDC. I think that the preview for 10.5 will be his next project. We can handle everything until then. Right?
