No, you cannot install it on you iHack yet. There are certain key files in the update that need to be patched before it will work with your system. Give it some time, it will happen.

Hey,

After I installed 10.4.8 on my MacBook I can't boot it up!?!?!?! I do have BootCamp and when I boot up it skips the OS X partition and goes to Windows. When you hold the Option key and select Macintosh HD it gives me a folder with a question mark. Any ideas? Man I really need my notebook tonight! Don't know what is going wrong.

Anyone else with a sucessfull update of this? I have several Macs to update, but can't test because of the importance of the files I have stored.

And for the one with the f***ed MacBook... try booting off your Mac OSX Install disk and running First Aid via Disk Utility... it probably won't do much but might be the key ;)

JaS - Do Intel Users need to worry about CPUID Checks? From looking at the Update Pack, one could use Pacifist to install everything but the following files?

1. mach_kernel

2. loginwindow.app

Also backup the extensions folder.

Things seem a little snappier on my end.

On my C2D iMac, Microsoft Word FLIES in Rosetta now... other than a slow startup it's tough to tell it's non native. It's faster than my Macbook, so my theory is that Apple threw in some Rosetta improvements for C2D that they didn't have before.
