  1. MAC OS X on Dell Studio Hybrid

Search for 10.5.6 retail, that's the best guide to get going. No real luck with Snow Leopard, can't seem to get it to boot, although it installs just fine. 10.5.8 is rock solid for me, but I am going to troubleshoot the Snow Leopard problem. Seems to hang at boot, stating some kind of a ACPI_SMCCTRL_LOOP, not sure if it's the problem though.
  2. MAC OS X on Dell Studio Hybrid

I've got 10.5.8 running with full acceleration. Basically, follow the guide on here for the retail 10.5.6 install. Then run the combo update for 10.5.8. Once it completes, DO NOT reboot, go ahead and delete the AppleIntelGMA and Integrated Drivers and repair permissions, as directed in various threads. After reboot, reinstall the x3100 drivers that were posted in the threads and all will be well. Also, I used the DSDT patcher instead of the GUI. With the latter I received many errors. I'm going to give Snow Leopard a shot next.
  3. Which way to go?

If you ask me, your best bet is to partition with Boot Camp, and then run Vmware Fusion off of the Boot Camp Partition. Beta 4 in fusion rocks and has been far better than parallels for me. Plus this way you can boot directly into windows if needed.

  5. Core Duo iMac - Like new

Selling Core Duo iMac. 1 gig ram, SuperDrive, 160 gig hard drive, x1600, you know the deal. Looking for 800, but somewhat negotiable. In great condition, comes with boxes and all manuals etc, except a replaced the stock mouse for a logitech. Need a MacBook so i am selling the desktop. Interested, let me know. Great ebay rating, can provide pictures.
  6. Safe to use CrossOver ?

you are safe, even if a virus did infect you, it would be a windows virus, which would have no effect on your system drive, probably just the psuedo c: drive wine creates. also, wine is not coded this way, and i doubt there are windows viruses that will run on wine. youll be safe from viruses. bugs however, of course not.
  7. Leopard build 9A283 has leaked!

k partition 1, tiger partition 2 storage partition 3 xp if i format xp and it also formats storage for some reason, how am i to blame, i certainly did not tell it to. and i asked you if disk utiliy could format two partitions at once, via disk utility gui it cannot. obviously the commandline can. do not mistake me for a anoob, the warnng is valid. this is stupid anyway, dont believe me if you don't want to, but i hope no one else suffers my fate, which is why i posted. thats all p.s. for the last time, i was not partitioning anything, only reformatting an existing partition (#3). that is not the same thing. i know how to partition via terminal, that is irrelevant to the situation however, because i was not partitioning.
  8. Leopard build 9A283 has leaked!

did you not listen. i have reformatted a million times and i was not partitioning, my disk was already partitioned into 3 volumes, and i was reformatting the last one (which was an xp install). If you would like to explain to me how i could reformat two partitions at a time and not the third (which is still my working tiger volume)) then you let me know how with disk utility, otherwise why dont you just believe me instead of calling it user error with nothing to back that up. simply formatting a partition from ntfs to hfs. do not say it was user error, i was giving a true warning to others on this site, i sorta hope leopard somehow bites you. you try and warn people, then they turn around and say its your fault.
  9. Leopard build 9A283 has leaked!

i've gotta say be extremely careful with leopard. i used disk utility off of the dvd to format my xp partition where i was going to install leopard. and for some reason it decided to format the parition before it as well. (thank god i separated my os from my storage). Also, for no reason whatsoever it destroyed my fat32 partition on an external firewire drive, which i never touched. which was excellent since it managed to hose the two partitions that had my music on them, the fat32 was the backup. ugh, at least i recovered them, but lost alot of the tags. leopard not ready yet.
  10. PS2 Game Ripper

disk utility. ps2 games are not protected. just make a dvd master image from the dvd and reburn it with disk utiliy. it wont play without a modded ps2 however
  11. VMware Fusion Thread

sorry, makes sense. My nic works perfect, and i did not have to change any settings. Wish I could remove the debug code...
  12. VMware Fusion Thread

works perfect. i am using an intel imac. of course, right now i am connected wirelessly. I can check ethernet tomorrow.
  13. VMware Fusion Thread

Fusion is actually very nice. Runs stable and has great features (more than parallels). Of course, so far, it is slower. Features not in parallels: Dragging files directly into VM. Built in iSight supported (you have to get the drivers and manually install them however) Full custom resolution (drag the bottom right hand corner and VM automatically resizes. Excellent.) Hopefully once the debug code is removed it will run better, but it probably replaces parallels for me right now.
