Official uphuck 10.4.9 universal x86 install DVD v1.3 thread

help me! i can NOT get uphucks dvd v1.3 to work on an intel machine. when installing it just says,"there were errors" and it makes me restart. i tried several different configs and disabled installing any extras. it just seems taht the intel install won't work. i've done it on 3 different computers, 2 laptops and a desktop. i've downloaded ti twice from two different trackers. i was able to isntall the AMD on an AMD machine and it finished without problems. but the intel won't. is no one else having this problem??? Jas 10.4.8 discs work fine.

 

 

You can always use his dvd as a coaster or a shiny ninja star and Chuck it against the wall :-D i did it shattered into millions of pieces. thats the only joy I got from that dvd. Use a JAS DVD you'll be fine. if you look at the first 100+ replies its all people who CANT get his dvd to work, why? i think cuz he skimmed out on the necessary Files and components as opposed to JAS, his installer ranges over 4 gigs now thats the correct install with 0 issues with except for some kext moving / editing. But it works and boots and Single User works. so dont bother yourself if this dvd dont work I did I was so positive thinking i can get it to work but, over 100+ people cant be wrong. Stick with jas or myzar or one of those other guys

 

so thats the issue im having as to why two of my hd dont boot anymore, my pc freezes at the gateway logo...

 

 

gotta screenshot?. or whats the exact message can you boot to verbose mode?

osx86tester, it goes no where, its the gateway bios logo, like when you boot up, it doesn't go anywhere!

Idea, uhm you can have it go to detailed bios mode i think its like F10 or F12 i forget on gateways try that there is a way oncey our in the gateway bios you can turn off the gateway splash screen. Is yours a laptop or desktop?

Fixed the install problem (as far as booting) and got the MBR to be set instead of EFI in disk utility.

 

Darndest weird thing that it doesn't detect my laptop keyboard/mouse OR the blue computer chipset for IDE.

Ok i took the hd and connected it to my parents pc. It shows two partitions, one is EFI and the other i was able to format..but i cant format the efi part, which is why my pc wont boot

AFAIK, you need to reformat the drive to change the partition map. It's not changing the partition, it's changing the thing that says where the partitions and what they do (eg. boot). Sorry. I'm running things on an old small and slow drive for this reason; I can't reformat my larger faster drives because they're full, for the time being.

Ok i'm having an issue with this version. Im running on a Thinkpad T61, T7500 2.2 GHZ, 2 GB ram, NVidia Quadro M140 video card, 120 GB HDD. I installed uphuck and i was fine till i got to the apple screen and got the notorious grey screen error. I put it in verbose mode and the error came out to be loginwindow.app, as it freezes when it gets to that point. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Thanks ahead of time.

have you ever checked md5 checksum of your dvd?

it is as simple as this: open terminal, type "md5 " (md5 + one space without cotes), drag drop cdr file or dvd icon hit ENTER.

after a 1 or two mins you have checsum for yr download, compaire it with the autors publiched cheksum (also posted by me here) and 4 of 5 people with problems will find that are instaling a fake uphuck.

Are you saying you can't boot to Windows? What drive is set as your boot drive in your system bios? Can you pull the drive with the 2 partitions and make your windows disk disk0? Is your Windows disk set as the active disk? It's covered up by a window in your picture so I can't see. For windows to boot, it has to be set as active. In DOS, you can use fdisk to delete the non-DOS partition (EFI) and then just recreate it as a fat32 drive. Then let OSX reformat that drive as HFS+ . Hope some of this helps.

Whenever I boot into OS X and then switch to Vista, Vista's time clock is 6 hours off.

This is a known issue switching between Windows and OS X.....

The only work around I know of is to use the "set time from internet time server" function of each when each boots up.

I can take a stab at the reason behind it as it happens with dual-booting some other x86 unix flavours with Windows.

Traditional nix boxes expect the clock on the board to be at GMT time and use TZ to set the offset in the OS.

Legacy Windows will work with whatever your board is set to (I think it figures it out on install when you set your TZ).

 

Some Linux distros now ask you on install what the board clock set to (GMT or Local Time) to keep this from happening as well.

You could try setting the CMOS Clock to GMT and then set the offset in both OS's.

 

And I'll try this out later as I just got past a ""System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist'" when trying to boot off of the DVD.

Was trying a Sony USB DVD as I don't have an internal and some folks claimed better results with USB DVD drives.

Hooked up an old Memorex IDE DVD drive and booted fine.

My Acer Veriton 6900 won't work either. (Q965 / ICH8DO), but that's not specific to the uphuck release. I've set up some boxes already, and i am familiar with plist tampering, tried everything.

ok after gettin both jas, and previus uphuck versions, i noticed that its my P5B-DM MAtx card or the SATA dvd drive i am using.

One of these..

Cause on my X2 system its booting fine and comes into install!!!

 

But i guess its this damn Q965 chipset WITH a SATA drive NO setting in bios matters.. aggghhh..

Now i need a new genuiea pig.. come to papa.. i guess no one else has this matx mb so i am out of luck.

any pointers on how i can get this install on my laptop? it's a toshiba satellite 2430 P4 2.5ghz sse2. i am stuck at 10.4.7 and i tried several options to upgrade higher, including Jas 10.4.8 update, and this Uphuck 10.4.9 install. each time after i update/install, i get a kernel panic.

 

for the uphuck install, i tried using the 8.9.1 sse2 kernel, along with installing the 10.4.4 loginwindow patch. should i have used one of the universal kernels? would i need the IOATA patch as well?

 

any pointers getting my laptop higher than 10.4.7 would be appreciated. thanks!

hmm lets see I guess i could download it but in previous replies i finally made a uphuck ninja star and threw it against the wall thus shattering into dozens of pieces. it's only use to me after spending 18+ hours was to annihilate it in some way. anyway ill redownload it but I have a gut feeling im wasting precious hard drive space on something that wont yield me a valuable install in the end. so if the md5 checks out and its still failing do I win a million dollars LOL j/k ill make another uphuckeditupnow ninja star and youtube it.

Yes these ppl are GREAT and do deserve RESPECT and appreciation. Remember they are not even getting 1$ from ppl, and are spending their freetime.

I for one, will donate as soon as i get one version working

 

Secondly about the checksums Carlos. As i said I got 3 versions and one compuer simply stops on the SAME spot everytime, I think something in bios or JMicron screws up on my Q965 based board. I tried ALL 3 dvds on another computer EVEN with IDE dvd drive and they ALL Start without any problem, so perhaps the checksum means something is wrong on the DVD; but its not the base for all problems. I think some versions are simply different but still working otherwise they would be flamed on the torrent forums.

 

Sooo.. I guess i will be out of luck until i get other hardware. I already posted a pic showing where it freezes (AHCPI System sate S1 S3 S5 etc. line and nothing else happens.. Could be one of the cores, or something to do with the DVD drive settings..

One of the choices during install (under patches) is to install the LoginWindow.app from another version (10.4.6 or 10.4.3 I cannot remember). Boot off the DVD and choose JUST THAT. That should install the older LoginWindow.app and it MAY solve your problem (various people for various reasons have experienced that, luckily, I am not one of them).Good Luck!Mourngrym

A few people (myself included, I am posting on one) have these Toshiba Satellites and they all have similar chipsets and similar issues. I wrote a VERY lengthy installation experience/guide (link: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=55886&hl=) that can help you clear some things up. I am currently running 10.4.9 with sound, network, etc... BUT, I had to make some compromises (like getting USB for wired and wireless ethernet and USB headset for sound). There are some reasons that Toshiba stuff doesn't work, and I bet your kernel panic references a driver called AppleIntel8254XEthernet.kext... see my post for the way to get past that. Definitely start with Uphuck 10.4.9 version 1.3 as it is the definitive laptop version (speedstep support, ACPI fixed, fan problem fixed, a number of patches included, etc). If, after reading that post, you have any questions, hit me up. I spent a week of more than 25 hours and 37 installs to get this running (worth it now that it is) but if I can help or point you to the right place, lemme know!Mourngrym

If my Intel CPU has SSE3, do I need to select an SSE3 package?

Do I need that selected if I also choose the Universal Kernel?

If I use my ICH7 SATA in IDE mode, do I need to select ICH7.

 

Is there a guide out there for what the options may do or not do for certain circumstances?

I'm running into trouble but wanted to be a bit more educated on my package choices before asking for help.

see yr box BIOS and if you have any bios steping power CPU auto management turn it off. Some intel mobo need it off.

if u d''lded uphuck from demonoid, put together yr original files in a folder start torrent point to folder with uphuck 1.3 force checking and re-donwload. this way only imcomplete or corrupted files will be d'led.

demonoid is up again.

as far as i now there are only two uphuck versions; one v1.2 and the latest v1.3.

for sure if checksum does not match you have a corrupted dvd.
