Hirez
First of all, thanks for the effort. I am trying to seed as much as i can! BUT (there is always that but sorry I would really appreciate some help with this problem. It might be easy but someone can gladly point out what i am doing wrong I have the following setup CPU: E6600 2gb Corsair ram MB: P5B-VM DO (Matx board) Intel® Q965/ICH8DO and currently using onboard VGA 1 IDE dvd writer from sony and one SATA from plextor. OF course IDE wasnt working from start i used the plextor instead. BUT the problem it finds the dvd alright STARTS but only gets to "using 10485 buffer.... and 4 more rows. Nothing happens on screen, last line is System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3). DVD stops spinning after a while and thats it. no reaction. I will try to post a picture but its a bit late (more like early hehe). The dvd is found on other ports as well, but exactly same thing happens. If i run -v command i get the same. Appreciate the help, hoping to finally test OSX to one day perhaps get a mac! Threepwood
I tried reinstalling uphuck 1.3. Now it boots but at the gray Apple screen it tells me I need to restart my computer. Not sure what made it boot at all this time. I changed the graphics aperture setting to 128 MB in BIOS...and installed uphuck 1.3 with AppleACPI this time. It still doesn't work, but at least it's an improvement. JaS 10.4.8 works great now, accelerated video and all (after I changed the aperture size). I'll make a disk image so that I can restore it if (when) I screw it up again (haven't tried updating to 10.4.10). BJMoose
Can anyone post a real good guide to installation? Where we can understand what kernel and patches we need?I'm trying to understand but nothing seems to work Alek, I don't think you're going to get much specific help because you don't publish the specs of your system. With Hachintosh, everyone's system is different and therefore, installation will be different. If you read through several relevant threads, you are sure to find others with your same equipment who share what they've used to make things work. I read this forum for about 6 months before I posted my first post. There was much help without me even asking a question. It made my first build and installation fairly successful. I might advice you to try 1 kernel at a time to see how it works with your system. If you avoid a couple of things, each installation should take less than 15 minutes. First, make sure to hit skip when installation begins to verify the image on your dvd. If it worked once, it will work always. That saves a great deal of time in the installation process. Also, only check the language you intend to use. That will also save time. Finally, just install the drivers...no software packages etc. (until you know what drivers and kernel works best for your system). That too will save time. Doing this, installation may only take 12-13 minutes (depending on the speed of your machine) and you get to learn stuff in the process. Hope this works out for you. Carlos Pombo
@ Hirez I do NOT have actually a Intel board. anyway try this: 1. chose 10.4.9 intel installation 2. kernel universal 3 3. patches 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th 4. selecte the intel vga drive if it mathes yr mobo chipset or if not leave it empty and install later a patched drive 5. do not forget to selecte ICH8 patch read carefully others drivers and selecte only u are sure u need. do not install other software now... u can add it later from dvd have good luck my opinion... this uphuck v1.3 is far the most compatible osx86 relesead i know. i'm counting 4 amd boxes rocking and 1 amd turion TARGA (wite line/no branded) runing with conflicts... anyway i've failed to install all versions i have 10.4.1, 10.4.4, 10.4.6, 10.4.7, 10.4.8 and 10.4.9 into this laptop Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53319-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v13-thread/page/18/#findComment-398616 Share on other sites
Hirez
Carlos: I thank you for your advice. I WILL copy and save it. But the problem for now is that when i boot with upchuck, it only shows be a few lines of code and FREEZES. It just stops, meaning that i never even get to choose all the different settings etc. I simply PUT in the DVD, it STARTS booting and Freezes. I seriously haven heard ANYONE with this early problem, either it doesnt load the DVD or the installation doesnt work too well. Mine doesnt even start to install Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53319-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v13-thread/page/18/#findComment-398629 Share on other sites
smilem
Repost my experience from: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...&hl=calisto Hi, I'm new to OSX I try to install uphuck_10.4.9_universal_dvd_v1.3 using this computer: ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard 120GB IDE HDD 1GB RAM P4 3.4GHZ SSE2 supported VIDEO card is from ASUS AX800 (ATI 256MB) Graphics Engine - ATI Radeon X800 PRO Video Memory - 256MB DDR Engine Clock - 475MHz Memory Clock - 900MHz(450MHz DDR) RAMDAC - 400MHz Bus Standard - AGP8X/4X/2X Memory Interface - 256-bit DDR Max Resolution - 2048x1536 VGA Output - Standard 15-pin D-sub TV-out - S-Video and Composite DVI Output - DVI-I 2nd VGA Output - Yes Selected Packages: 10.4.9 Intel Kernel: Intel SSE2 It worked when I chose power management path but when I select about this mac, the desktop reloads like when pc boots up and nothing shows up. I then tried universal kernel-3 and it started to work. Don't know what is the difference between universal kernel -1 -2 -3. My video card does not work it shows 1024x768 at 60HZ and since I use CRT monitor my eys are killing me. I tried 006 and 008 calisto drivers and agpgart 1.2lite and final version 2.2, the same can't change resolutions or refresh rate. here what i see under my graphics card in "about this mac": Type: Display Bus: AGP VRAM (Total): 128 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x4a49 Revision ID: 0x0000 Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded Displays: Display: Resolution: 1024 x 768 Depth: 32-bit Color Core Image: Not Supported Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported This is with agpgart 2.2 and 006 calisto installed from uphuck cd whe instaling the osx itself. Carlos Pombo
@ Hirez check MD5 of your iso or cdr file used to burn the dvd. the correct checksum is 87cfb8d2fa761dd0e2bbe00ad105fa44 google for [md5.exe] or [MD5 Checker 2.31] win utilities download and use it to verify md5 checksum. if checksum matches burn a new dvd at lowest burning speed. probably u have a bad dvd. once you are shure you have a perfect dvd start install if it fails try playing with yr mobo BIOS also change DVD driver connection (preferable as master and alone in cable) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53319-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v13-thread/page/18/#findComment-398702 Share on other sites
BJMoose
Smilem, I have a system that has the same motherboard and processor, but with SATA drives. It also has an agp ATI x1300 gfx card. I don't use that for OSX, but I did test uphuck's v1.2 on that system and I used the universal 2 kernel. Graphics worked out of the box with ci and qe but had the pixelation problem. Ethernet worked out of box too. Not sure if u2 on 1.2 is the same as u2 on 1.3. Good luck testing. Carlos Pombo
@ Smilem how 2 change resoluction and refres rate yr x800 with calisto i got this working this way wiith a radeon x700 find the folder named calisto inside yr installed HDD, the files you need are inside. it as an installation info file i think any way im pasting here info (((credits to Callisto))) Callist 6 or 8 will do the job QI CE not working in my case but are supouse to work with x800 using koverg-patch9700-v0.2 (google) Installation The installation is fairly simple, download the zip file, extract and copy the two .kext folders to your /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Make sure that the permissions on the newly copied folders (recursive, -R) are 755 with root:wheel ownership. Lastly edit the Info.plist file in CallistoHAL.kext/ to match your ATI card's PCI device ID and reboot. If you do not know what I'm talking about you are truly inapt - go back to Windows and forget the novelty factor of OS X. Else, if you are really desperate to use this driver then do the following: . I have typed this out of my head, so if something is incorrect, let me know, ok? . Download the file to the Desktop (surely you know how to download, no?) . Safari will download and unzip the archive into Callisto_latest. . Start a new terminal window from Applications->Utilities cd ~/Desktop cd Callisto_latest or wherever the archive was decompressed. vi CallistoHAL.kext/Contents/Info.plist . Replace my own PCI device ID with yours under the IOPCIMatch key (4150 is mine...) Don't tell me you don't know how to use vi? Try nano or Textedit then. sudo mv Callisto* /System/Library/Extensions/ (enter your password when prompted) sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto* (enter your password when prompted) sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/Callisto* (enter your password when prompted) We might need to clean up some of the display settings files, so proceed with the following inside the terminal window: sudo rm -f /Library/Preferences/com.apple.window* rm -f ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.window* rm -f ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.pref* .Also remove any display settings in your com.apple.Boot.plis file, for example: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x1024x32</string> This file is in the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ folder. . Before you reboot, make sure you remove the Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache, so that system refreshes those and include Callisto: sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache . Repair Permissions with DiskUtilitiy or other . Reboot and hope all goes well. . If it does, you will see your screen's default resolution (whatever that is based on the EDID). Go to your Display Preferences and try changing a resolution in there. . If you do not see new resolutions in Display Preferences, you did not follow the instructions above to the letter or the driver does not work properly on your computer, go back and try again. . When you change the resolution and get a picture, congratulate yourself. Else, if you get a black screen, don't just click with the mouse like mad. Try using the cursor up and down key to switch between other modes and see if that brings the image back. . If there's no image at all, read the Troubleshooting section for possible solutions. If those fail then the driver does not work for you. Boot into single user mode (that's -s switch in boot prompt) and remove the two KEXT files...sorry it didn't work. . If you mess up your OS, don't blame me, you should've read the F.A.Q. first. I guess i should DL again or another version?? very strange. U really think this could be the problem?? or can you have different checksums and STILL get it to work.. Carlos youre great to make me check this!!! BTW; if i dont succeed i plan on building a system myself, (i will either use it as a pc or mac depending on how it goes). I am putting together a good package that will have the LEAST problems, but i guess nothing is future safe either. MAybe we can compare specs later, I dunno if i can get the quad but at least a nice duo core when the new ones come in a few months (1333mhz etc. i hope they will work hehe) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53319-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v13-thread/page/18/#findComment-398741 Share on other sites
OSX86tester
I don't know your laptop specification. But I just installed on a Toshiba laptop with SSE2. This is the only MAC OSX release working on my laptop. See: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry392819 Ok using Jas 10.4.8 I got it to work with some minor touches. Now this is one thing that ive noticed with osx86. YOU MUST INSTALL ALL LANG PACKS AND FONTS. if you ditch one or the other it dont install right. I think its because of that fruity demo song and those wellkomen thingys. so I love jas. now can i just use the drivers on the uphuck cd to get things like (dell truemobile i forgot if its 1350 or something) its 802.11b and the geforce4go 440 sound is great enet great video is like a little square box of 1024X768 and thas about it oh yeah specs are DELL LATITUDE C840 DISK 20GB MEMORY 512MB CPU 1.6GHZ Pentium4 M DELL Truemobile minipci wireless (not working) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53319-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v13-thread/page/18/#findComment-398751 Share on other sites
digiplaya2005
YOU MUST INSTALL ALL LANG PACKSAND FONTS. OSx86tester, you sure about that? Cause I don't remember setting my uphuck 1.3 to have any language packs on my laptop at least, and the install was fine as well as running the OS. Just askin'. Plus is it really true that uphuck 1.3 DVD loads all the Extensions that come with the disc when you boot off of it? Because my blue computer needs the viaata.kext that comes with this version for the ATA controller to be detected and for the OS to boot in the first place. Plus, If any one else can pitch in on my problem (have another thread about it on the forum) that'd be great. Don't care about anything else right now, it seems. rjtd
I'm having a big problem with Uphuck. At the first boot, after installation, everything works fine (audio, network, nvidia card, everything). The OS boots perfectly as well. But after the first restart, everything gets messed up. There are errors about mismatches, and the partition stops booting from grub. I can only boot it using MacOSX DVD with rd=discXsX. Is there any fix for this? Carlos Pombo
@ setankuda if you u are serious about osx86 u have to read. u can find a couple of posts here telling u can change .cdr to .iso and burn with nero or other win stuff, also u can burn .cdr in mac with toast. Anyway it seems that some recente downloads have bad checksum. u are smart to check it before burning. see my post to "Hirez" above for checksum u can confirm it in first uphuck post this thred. If it do NOT MATCH re-download or rebuid files. The shure place is demonoid torrent, wait 'till demonoid is up again. g/look. @ everyone with strange problems uphuck 1.3 some of u can have bad checksum too. [corrupted image file]. SMART people coonfirm checksum matches. - Launch Terminal from /Applications/Utilities/ - At the prompt, type "md5 " <- md5 + space no quotes - Drag (osx86 uphuck image) file onto the Terminal window and press return on your keyboard. After a few moments of whizzy computing, the MD5 checksum will appear in Terminal or see my post above to check with windows Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/53319-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v13-thread/page/18/#findComment-399012 Share on other sites
