2nd time, it's weird, maybe it's because of some software u use or maybe a corrupt image can be the reason, did you check the md5 of image?

I sure did, the image is great. Here's some additional weirdness however. I did a diskutil repairpermissions / from the terminal after removing an AppleHDA.kext I was messing with, and it was unusually chatty that time.. lots of repairs.

I just rebooted using the CD, and dropped to terminal to check out the partition itself, and wow, some weirdness. The /Users folder with my user had a chmod of 501:501

instead of the username I had selected. There are also numerous other folders now with 501's instead of their correct groups/users (ie. root:wheel).

I have several hackintoshes running here (have for months) and a MacBook, so I checked the perms on those ones, and they are correctly set.

I have a feeling there may either be an issue with the diskutil app, the disk driver (perhaps?) or, you simply cannot have a user named 'apple'

All my other hackint0shes are running JaS 10.4.8

I am about to reinstall.. AGAIN.. unless anyone has any thoughts on the matter..

Thx again.

hey uphuck,

thx for version 1.3, im downloading it atm. Just one question: will a native install on a Nforce4 SATA drive be possible, will the hdd detected during installation? Or is the included n-force driver just for post-installation?

Cheers,

aKy

nforcesata is experimental for osx, some people say it is working error free on a few mobo even I've never seen one with working stable. So, i did not integrate the driver for installation on nv sata, I just put the package for detection of sata after installation.

Once i made a dvd for installation on nv sata and tried on nv430, It can see the drive but can't format the partition. The best way for nv sata users to use osx stable is using ide hd or wait for the developers to improve the driver.

I'm downloading v1.3 now. Thanks a lot uphuck :).

On a different note, it's going slow since there's only one seeder. I'll make sure to seed once I finish downloading.

EDIT: It appears that no one visible to me is past 17.5%. :)

Edit 2: Reached 19% now. Can't see any seeders though.

Heres my rig :

Intel Pentium 4 HT 2.8 GHz SSE2 Northwood Core

MS-6772 Revision 1 Logic Board (Acer OEM, built by MSI)

1 GB Dual Channel DDR333 RAM

Integrated Intel 865G Graphics

Adaptec FW400 PCI

Broadcom BCM5705KFB LAN

16X DVD-ROM and 48X CD-RW, 40 GB IDE ATA/100 HDD

Everything works except the LAN and the video. The LAN says its there, but wont connect to the internet (Using IP over FW to get online atm), and the video card, it sees that it is a Up to 64MB Shared VRAM, but no CI or QE.

I tried a GeForce 3 Ti200, and it never boots.

If I cant get the 865G to work, I'm gonna hunt down a FX5200.

Other than that, it works great. I used the Uni. Kernel 2 and the Remove Power Management options.

Uphuck, if you look at the nforce4 sata thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...5985&st=700, you will see that a ppf was made for the tubgirl dvd. I used that one on my DFI mobo and I was able to install natively on nforce4 sata and it's perfect. It uses the driver by medevil. Why can't you do it the same way? I was really hoping you would make this work the way tubgirl's dvd did :(

Oh well keep up the good work and please make this work next time.

Now I've got a strange problem: I actually have an high-frequency cheep noise all the time in my K8N-Deluxe system. Crazy is that noise comes from the hardware, it's not a sound card problem. To make it more complicated: If the CPU usage gets higher, the noise is away. Cool'n'Quiet is activated in BIOS (tested it without, it's the same). The problem appears not on my A8N-SLI Premium systems and not in Windows. Could it be a CPU driver problem? Where can I remove IntelPowerManagement?

DL'ded Uphuck V1.3 to 35% now.

GreetinX from the Other Side!

:EDIT:

I've found out what it was: My eHome infrared receiver for the Apple Remote. But this wasn't all the time like this, just after I registered Mira... hm. Anyway it would be interesting to find out how to remove IntelPowerManagement.

Uphuck V1.3 now at 37,4% (after about 1 hour) <_<

GreetinX again

CAN ANYONE HELP?!?!

I just installed v1.2, but now have a problem after it was finished installing! It tells you to reboot at the end of the OSX install. When it reboots it says: "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the restart button" it says this in 4 different languages and you cant move the mouse! It gave me a different error on my first time installing. So i descided to reinstall and now get the error above! PLEASE HELP!

Chill: that's a Kernel Panic. Make sure you select the PROPER Kernel during the installation. DON'T SELECT ALL THE KERNELS. JUST ONE. Either Intel for SSE2 or SSE3, or AMD SSE2 or SS3 or ONE of the Universal Kernels. Never try more than on kernel at once. THE README IS YOUR FRIEND.

whenever i try downloading uphuck 1.3 it says not enough free space on disk. Although i have 10 gb of free space on each of the three drives... pls help

I am using utorrent

are you download to an FAT32 formated Harddisk? FAT can only store Files up to 2Gb, so you need an NTFS formated Harddisk to download a 4,3Gb file

nf4 sata drivers are unstable for many mobo right now, one of my friends is working on nv4xx and nv5xx sata controllers, if he can get a stable working system with those chipsets then I'll add the drivers to next versions or maybe will release ppf for old versions of my works.

Install goes fine, but when booting up I get the apple logo on a grey screen with the animated rotating circle. I started up in -s and -v mode and it always gets as far as:

using 5242 buffer headers and 4096 cluster IO buffer headers

It never gets past this. No errors or anything are reported. Any ideas? This is a Thinkpad T41. I had installed 10.4.4 on it a long time ago, but due to no 2200BG drivers I got rid of it. Now that there are some available I want to give OSX another go. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've searched around for a while and I can't find any solutions to this problem.

A number of people have reported this problem (I have it, also). It only occurs in this 10.4.9 distribution, not (for instance) in any of the Jas 10.4.8 packages. You can put a temporary bandaid on it by booting from the install DVD instead of the hard disk bootloader. Press F8 and enter rd=disk0sX -f -v at the command line, where X is the number of the OSX partition. (To find out what it is for your system, you can boot the DVD into the Install program again and run Disk Utility, then inspect the information for your OSX partition.)

What's the partition structure on your hard disk? (Primary and Extended, filesystems, etc.) Maybe if we get some more statistical reports on this, we can figure out if it only happens in certain partition configurations, or whether it's a hardware/ACPI-related issue.

Also, maybe it's fixed in the 1.3 distribution, which a number of people are currently downloading.
