lennyb
Select appleacpiplatform.kext from 10.4.8 at install time. Actually it's an issue on some amd systems, anyway try what I said. It happens on my Inspiron 8600 Pentium-M (ich4, 855pm chipset), as well, whether or not I select the appleacpiplatform.kext from 10.4.8 By the way, see the enclosed image for verification that Titan works properly with the fx5200 under 10.4.8 1048titan.tiff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/50880-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v12-thread/page/19/#findComment-381283 Share on other sites
Jmosier
I have a few more questions! (sorry for the millions of questions i've been asking!) So here they are.. ..:1:.. How do you get your computer to let you choose which OS you want to boot? Is it like a boot manager or what? I want to run OSX and XP. ..:2:.. Secondly, does Uphuck v1.3 allow you to use internet? As far as i can see v1.2 does not! ..:3:.. Should it be able to run any program that a normal Mac would? such as Final Cut Pro, Dreamweaver, etc. So if anyone can answer 1 or all of these that'd be great! For the record i have v1.2 working and i am now just seeing what i can do with it! Thanks for all your help! JSR
1 - there are many guides on how to dual boot Xp or Vista with Mac Os. Just make a search. 2 - It dependes on your hardware (ethernet card, modem...), not on the version you install. Check your hardware compatibility first 3 - Yes Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/50880-official-uphuck-1049-universal-x86-install-dvd-v12-thread/page/19/#findComment-381368 Share on other sites
naquaada
Jmosier: Here're again some answers for u: 1. if you use Windows and MacOS on one HD you have to use a 3rd party boot selector, maybe from Acronis. If you use a seperate HD for each OS you can use the BIOS boot selector (not the nicest way). The best and easiest version for a two-HD-system is to use the Windows XP boot selector, you need the file CHAIN0 from the install DVD. For more we need more information (put your system specs in your signature). 2. All OSX images support access for the inernet in any way. But if it works for you depends on the support of your ethernet card, f.e. WLAN is often a problem. The settings in System Configuration/Network must be correct too. 3. The compatibility is about 99% for all programs like on original Intel-Macs and about 99,9% for Intel progs on AMD cpus. Some PowerPC progs won't run because they don't work with the Rosetta emulation, but this can happen on real Intel-Macs too. The only program I found what was running not on AMD was the Parallels installer which checks for a genuine Intel CPU. But this check can easily be removed and the program itself runs perfectly. 4. Please don't use this kind of fireworks of colors, text styles and font sizes in a post. We'll also help you without this stuff. I'll seed but don't expect too much, have only a very low upload speed. Maybe I'll install tomorrow. GreetinX from the Other Side! Jmosier
Thanks for your help naquaada! I included my specs in my signature and i'm wondering what the best way to go about the whole boot manager thing. I checked out Acronis and that looked pretty good. Currently I have my hard drive partitioned and half is for XP and the other half is for OSX. My problem is that when i installed v1.2 it boots straight to that, and now from what i can see i cannot even boot up into XP! Should i just reinstall XP, install that boot manager, and then install OSX on the other half of my hard drive? Let me know what you think! Thanks for the help again! P.S. V1.3 sucessfully downloaded at 9pm! I'll seed as long as possible! naquaada
I always recommend two seperate harddisks for OSX and Mac using my 3-partition system from my installation guide. It's the safest way, you will be able to restore your system after the most crashes. But this isn't possible in a laptop. I always used two HDs, so I have no experience with boot selectors. But the most people seem to use Acronis. The best way: Use OSx86 primarely and if u need Windows once in a month run it in Parallels! GreetinX from the Other Side! boinkytwo
@uphuck I installed v1.3, it took me 3 installation attempts to boot from it successfully 1st attempt - It gave me kernel panic error 2nd attempt - It gave me something like debugger called panic, plus please restart your compter error 3rd attempt - Success! all errors fixed (with some kext deletion & kernel change). But there is one problem I cant seem to fix... Everytime I boot osx, it tells... Errors encountered while starting up the computer Pausing in 5 seconds... blacklistedcard
uphuck: why can't I use this release or tubgirls? I now have to go and get another HD. I just want some answers as to why I can't use it and other can. JaS 10.4.8 SSE2/3 works fine but nothing with 10.4.9 it's either stalling or not even booting past the bios.. I figured out what this problem is. You have to make sure that the partition on the drive is setup for "Master Boot Record". You have to change the default in the Disk Utility. If so, then nice, you're awesome. Now, with that out of the way, you should search on wiki.osx86project.org and see if you can find any drivers that have been edited for your ethernet card. I know I've seen a lot somewhere, but that's all I can think of. A lot of people I know have edited kext's to load and work with their hardware, but I'm too much of a dumbass to do any of that, since I just recently got into the Mac Hardware business. H3L10
Hello everybody! Congrats for the great work uphuck , I have installed the 1.2 version on my aspire 5672wlmi with intel core duo t2300, with ATI x1400 (working as vesa) , 120 hd sata, broadcomm bluetooth, 3954 intel wifi (not working), ethernet (not working), and realtek HiDef audio (tried azalia drivers, but not working) and logitech built in webcam (not working). The system works great! (I have installed with some options and didn´t work, tried de dvd instalation again and put more options an it works) but now I have installe netit drivers and the system hangs on the logo (the progression bar full, and no hd activity), i tried everything and give up, I´m downloading v1.3 and will install tomorrow. Wich are the best setting for this system? Is there a driver for logitech webcam (built in) and ethernet ? I saw that the ati 1400 doesn´t have a driver, but can i change the resolution? (in the "normal way" don´t) and ethernet? or wifi? I google it and didn´t find drivers for it. I´ll have to change the wifi card? Thank you very much for the great work! And everybody that post here with infos that helps me to install this great OS. Sorry the english , i´m brazilian and not so good in this language...... Regards Just 1 more question, I think I read something about getting work on Card Reader (texas Instrument) somewhere..... does anybody know where i can find it? Shaj
Uphuck you are the greatest!!!! Everything installed perfectly!!!!!!! Just a noobie question though...is the security update NOT meant to be installed??? Coz after my first install, I ran the security update...it restarted the computer...re-started it once more before even getting to the login screen...and thereafter kept freezing at the grey apple logo screen. I ran it in -v mode and saw it just stop at this msg "mDNSResponder: Adding browse domain local" Nothing after that. No HDD activity at all. So had to install everything again and this time avoid running the security update... so it's not meant to be installed then???? digiplaya2005
Actually I could get my 1.3 system up and running after doing all the "applicable" updates that were in software update. I believe it was something simple: had to boot with -s option at darwin boot screen (I know it's vague but I'll try to think of exactly what I did). Good to hear the news tho! Tom A.
