Has anyone had an issue getting Imessage and Facetime to work on smbios iMac19,1 or iMacPro1,1? I can only get it working if I use Macpro 7,1.

Have you changed your serial etc when changing smbios?

Not had an issue with 1,1 or 19,1 personally.

First off@AudioGod just made the switch to open core, so thankful for your continued support here! Its such a massive blessing to have your updates that just work out of the box!

One thing that I have found though with open core is that I am unable to receive/send messages from non iMessage users (android users). Per your guide I uses the same MLB, System Serial Number and System SmUUID that I was using with my clover build that had this capability working so unsure what the issues might be here?

Second question is a bit of an ask, but I have an iPad Pro that I use on and off as a third display using sidecar over my wireless network, but would like to connect it to my Hackentosh via lightning to usb c cord as there is a bit of lag over the network. I could of sworn I saw someone else asking a similar question, but after digging through the threads/searching it didn't come up with any thing. Any who I was wondering if some one has already done this and wouldn't mind sharing their config with me? I could always try do it my self but I have a track record of breaking working systems and I've been so happy with the way this has been running as of late that I don't wan't to mess that up :/

Hmm, I've never been able to use Messages with anyone other than iOS users. Maybe it’s a Mojave thing?

I've just scanned through my message history going back to 2016 and I've only ever had iMessages, nothing from those on Android. That was using my iMac so its probably / possibly not bootloader related but maybe a setting in iCloud account or something else?

Just found this link, it might help

Hello! After yesterday's update, I experienced a kernel panic, although I'm not sure if it was related or if it was just a coincidence. It's my first KP this year tbh :D

I'm putting the report here maybe it contains useful info that I don't know:

I see it is somehow related to the NVME, but my NVME is kind of new, I bought it a year ago and I never had any issues so I'm not sure if it's software or hardware related issue yet. I'm on the latest Open Core :D

I hope I won't have any KP but in case I do I'll start to investigate deeper.

Cheers!

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new revision of the Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge 2.0 thunderbolt card in their build? v1.0 has been updated

Not sure if they are out as yet

If anyone is interested, here are the differences between v1 and v2 of the thunderbolt card

Rev. 2.0 has additional support for our Z490 and H470 board models. It also has a extra cable for 3 pin THB_C (for these new boards).

Hello, I am using the provided f12 BIOS profile and EFI and the system boots up and works great. However, I am experiencing a problem running Geekbench 5 with overclock.

I have the 9900k overclocked at 5ghz and 1.330v, with extensive tests with Cinabench and Blender benchmark everything is stable. However, I believe due to extreme power requirement fluctuation in tests, during the Geekbench run it is consistently giving me a kernel panic and reboots.

Setting the v-core to Auto solves the problem but that is not a good solution as then the chip is throttling under overclock. Has anyone else overclocked their system or had similar issues and knows what might solve it?

Thank you.

That’s a sure sign that your overclock is not stable I’m afraid.

add 0.010v to your overclock and test again.

blender and cinibench are in no way the answer to finding a totally stable overclock.

Prime95 for 12 hours plus will give you a better result in stability or just lots of day to day use.

cinibench on a loop might give you a lock for testing stability but even then you need at least 8 hours none stop to find out and even that might not be enough.

When I overclock a build I use prime95 small ffts with an overnight run and then realbench for a good few hours followed by some none stop gaming for the evening and if it survives all of that then I’m 90% sure it’s locked but I’m never 100% sure until a few weeks of real world usage has passed.

i hope that helps and good, luck.

Thanks for responding, I have done a couple of tests and figured out that the reason for the crash is the quick changes in frequencies and therefore voltages changes to the CPU in macOS. I also confirmed this by running the test in Windows on Balanced power plan and it crashed. Running in Performance plan, where the frequencies are locked at 5ghz, it passes the test.

I have already have the Loadline calibration at Turbo, also tried extreme and ultra, and still same results in macOS. I understand that this might indicate unstable OC, but even increasing Vcore to 1.35 has not solved the problem.

Would there be a setting in this motherboard to have a constant clock ratio at 5ghz, so it would work in macOS same as Windows? Or perhaps any other solutions?

edit: I have found a post with similar issue on the Z390-I pro motherboard, where the author solved it by setting "CPU Vcore/VAXG Protection" to 400mV. However, I have not found any similar named options anywhere on the Z390 pro in current BIOS version. Any idea where to find such setting?

Thanks.

I'm curious as to what others are using. I have a Radeon VII and use primarily Final Cut Pro and Davinci Resolve. Would I get better performance if I went with 5700XT? Thanks.

I'm using a 5700XT with FCP.  My understanding is that the Radion VII has a bit more power, but I've noticed driver support for the 5700XT is maturing and it gets a bit faster with each OS update.

Hope that helps!

Hi, just have one more issue maybe if anyone encountered this. I have an ultra wide 3440x1440 monitor and would like to set clover boot loader to that resolution. As I understand, I need to install the csmvideodxe driver to enable the support.  The issue is that after installing the driver trough clover configurator, the next boot up is always stuck on motherboard logo, so it does not even reach clover.

Anyone else changed the resolution to support 21x9 ratio?

Thank you.

thanks for all your work my system would not be up and running without you one question im using your oc efi with a 5700xt and 9900k big sur will boot with both smbios you have shard (19,1 and 1,1) but if i change it to mac pro 7,1 big sur will not boot wont even bring up progress bar just apple logo but the smbios 7,1 will boot to catalina no problem do you have any idea why that it would boot to catalina with thas smbios but not big sur

thanks again

Thanks for the info. I think you may be right. The main reason I went with Radeon VII was that in Davinci Resolve, since the card has so much memory, it would help with a lot of nodes, but I don't do any sophisticated grading, and I think that FCPx is more optimized for the 5700XT.

So I stumbled across this usb-c dongle made by luna  that allows Mac to Mac connections (i.e. just like side car but for two Macs).

My idea is that I could use my hackentosh to drive my MacBook Pro 2015 as an external screen, but what is really cool is that the keyboard and trackpad of the MacBook still work as secondary IO. So essentially, if I want to move to a different area of the house I can just take my MacBook but still be using my hackentosh.

Anyways I was just curious if the any one has some inclination as to whether the usb-c port (on the current Open Core build) would support this functionality? I know as of now my iPad is not recognized when plugging it into the usb-c port so I'm assuming not? If it doesn't currently support it would it be hard to configure it to work properly/could you recommend any websites to help me get it to work (or better yet provide a config in where it does work)? Reason I ask is that that the dongle is $70 bucks, and while I'm happy to be a guinea pig I also don't just want through cash away.

Huge Thanks to @AudioGod, @glasgood, @MaLd0n & @larabee for this post!

I use OpenCorev 0.6.0., Catalina 10.15.6

I replaced my EFI with OpenCore 060 Z390 Pro 19,1 030820.zip and everything is working perfectly, except that I get random freezes on my screen from time to time (Sometimes it happens once I log in to Mac, and sometimes after an hour long, it's just unpredictable. I could be watching YouTube videos or just navigating folders on my desktop, and it happens without a sign)

One thing that I'm not sure of is that because I'm using OpenCore and OpenCore Configurator, how do I make sure MSR/CFG is unlocked?

I have loaded F12c Unlock.zip to my BIOS, but just want to make sure it's is unlocked so as to match with the EFI

Also, I have problems with setting the boot priority in my BIOS (F12c). It always changes my setting automatically to "OpenCore" being the 1st priority, but I only want it to be Samsung 970 EVO Plus (where I installed Catalina 10.15.6) and disable the rest. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have attached my config.plist and a picture of my glitchy mouse pointer when it freezes.

I'd greatly appreciate any kind of assistance, I feel like this is the final step to perfect my Hackintosh after weeks of trial and error!

Thank you!

Check unlock by using Hackintool. Click on Utilities tab, then at bottom left, click on AppleIntelInfo. When finished look for:

MSR_PMG_CST_CONFIG_CONTROL........(0xE2) : 0x7E000008
------------------------------------------
 - I/O MWAIT Redirection Enable......... : 0 (not enabled)
 - CFG Lock............................. : 0 (MSR not locked)

Resetting NVRAM is always helpful. You may have to pull battery and let your mobo completely reset. I think instructions are in first post.

And, oof, don’t use OpenCore Configurator. Use something like PListEditPro or ProperTree.

Hi all,

Just a message, in case someone was facing to the same issue.

After updating my EFI folder (Clover 5115 to 5120), the sound was not working anymore. (different audio codec ?)

HARDWARE USED

• Intel I9 9900k

 Gigabyte AORUS Z390 Master

• Sapphire RX5700 XT Nitro+ SE

 Corsair Dominator Platinum 32 Gb

 Corsair RMx 750w 80+ Gold

  x3 Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB (x2) NVMe SSD - macOS Catalina 10.15.6

Resolution :

- Mount your EFI partition

- Open "config.plist" with Clover Configurator

- Left panel select "Devices"

- Audio -> Inject -> 16 (It's the setting of my old EFI)

It resolved my sound problem', I hope it will help someone!

Thank you for your advice @pkdesign!

I enabled CMOS in my BIOS and couldn't boot my PC at all, then I reset CMOS and loaded F12c Unlock.zip in the BIOS

Everything's been working perfectly somehow, so I guess I won't touch the setting now until I bump into any problems again.

Thank you again! Best wishes!

Your using the wrong EFI,

you should be using the EFI from this thread instead.

I have two threads, one for the Z390 Pro and one for the Z390 Master,
