I'm using Jas 10.4.6 It's one week i'm tryin Boris's method, neophus patcher or the sudo pico /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist - Ajouter dans le fichier les lignes suivantes: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x8OOx32</string> method to get a 1280x800 resolution on my laptop ASUS A6JA.... i tried all methods before and after installing Jas updates to 10.4.7 with boris' manual method, i get first a vertical striped (black and grey) screen, then blackscreen, no signal on any out of the ATI X1600 card.... with neophus patcher, i get black sreen, no signal on any out of the ATI X1600 card.... with the third method (<key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x8OOx32</string>) i get long serie of lines during the booting that end up with something like: appleHDA.kext failed to load unable to locate"lay out ID"property then screen blinking total panic!! all works ok except this f...in' resolution.. i have internet thru a linksys USB200M bluetooth dongle ok some problems with the keyboard (no @) !!!!! only printer recognized on my Epson scanner/printer not able to get wireless workin, even with 2 different PCMCIA cards.... and a dongle.. ANYBODY HEARD ABOUT CALLISTO DRIVER?? can u post anything about it?? i googled and find them but they were useless to me as i didn't know what to do with them dont have them no more nor remember the version.. any help on that or any other method to get that bl...y resolution 1280x800!!!! a member pmed me about it then no news.... FuriousT Posted August 29, 2006 Share Posted August 29, 2006 I don't know if this has been figured out yet, but it was news to me, and I've been working to try and get my laptop's screen to work at 1920x1200x32. Both the boris method and the installer provided by NeoPheus would ultimately make it impossible for me to get into OS X using my laptop's monitor, which is a fairly nice widescreen LCD. I know that a lot of people don't want to try this method because it disables their laptop's monitor. I cannot remember what gave me the idea, I thought maybe if OS X only loaded the ATIRadeonx1000 kexts and removed the ATINDRV.kext that maybe I'd have some success. And in fact, I found that if you take out ATINDRV.kext, laptop users can use their laptop screens. OS X will boot using the laptop's screen with Quartz Extreme and Core Image enabled. It does not give you any other resolution options, however. So the next big thing I'm wondering if people can help me out with... is there a way to edit ATINDRV.kext in such a way that doesn't default it to a monitor (ie. using our native laptop screens), and yet, still allow us to change resolutions? lagrossebetegoa Posted August 29, 2006 Share Posted August 29, 2006 thanks a lot cyclonefr... even if its a sad news to me.... what i dont understand is that i dont even get graphics on external display.... so after all i m not that dumb... it is not possible so far to solve the resolution problem with ATI X1000 mobility...what a pity.. the rest works quite ok... i hope someone solves it anyway in the near future, counting on youse little geniuses!! aaaaaaaaaargh its frustrating !! I thought being the same graphic card as on the mac pro it would be possible... big mistake... xevean Posted September 4, 2006 Share Posted September 4, 2006 ok i got my ati x1900xt working here is what i did to get it working quick guide enter su mode in terminal go to /system/library directory backup "Frameworks" and "Extensions" directory respectively add the contents of the Extensions_10.4.7_Disabled directory to the extensions directory replace the opengl.framework in frameworks with the one in the Frameworks_10.4.7_Disabled directory update kext cache and restart what i did step by step fresh install 10.4.6 jaz install 10.4.7 update on 1st boot when prompted to restart kill installer using applications/utilities/Activinity monitor bring up terminal and enter the following bold commands su root cd /System/Library cp -R Extensions ./Extensions.bk //backup extensions directory cp -R Frameworks ./Frameworks.bk //backup frameworks directory cp -R Extensions_10.4.7_Disabled/* ./Extensions //add additionaly extensions cp -R Frameworks_10.4.7_Disabled/* ./Frameworks //replace opengl framework installed nforce4 forcedeth lan driver and updated kesh cashe and restarted and it worked. full qe and ci, guna post a screen shot later on. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 OS Version: 10.4.6 Jas I've tried Neophus installer twice. I get half blue screen, half blank with the mouse pointer. I've tried Badenov method manually. When I repairPermissions, I get the following: ./Users/Shared/SC Info does not exist Could that have anything to do with it or is it normal? I have an MSI RX1600XT, so two DVIs and one SVHS out. I also have two screens: one TFT 19", using DVI and a CRT 21" using the DVI2VGA adapter. Both work, but not at once. So if there's any progress with dual screen in this area, I'd be very glad to hear about it. zedzed Posted September 12, 2006 Share Posted September 12, 2006 OK - I am just unlucky or something. Maybe it is my motherboard - an Intel D915PBLL. I now have the Asus EAX1600XT - the 'perfect card' And still the same shiit - goes to black - and I try VGA then DVI to VGA and still nothing. Is there some special settings in BIOS that I need to set up? Before running boris automated - in the About this Mac - it shows the card and it shows that QE and CI are supported. Shows up as 71c2 (as did my Sapphire x1600 pro). Running clean install of JaS 10.4.7. I did not put in x1600 support during install. After inserting card and seeing that it works then I ran the boris automated. micromodular Posted September 12, 2006 Share Posted September 12, 2006 You can try deleting the preferences for your display: i booted in single user mode but i have no com.apple.windowserver.plist ... in Library/Preferences and /Users/me/Library/Preferences, im almost sure im having the same problem as the guy you said... but wasnt ATI Radeon X1600 Pro fully supported? or just saphire? i also flashed my card bios with the Sapphire X1600XT bios, but it didnt worked, i had to reflash it again with the original one... can you please post your windowserer.plist? , maybe i can edit it...
