hello guys.

First thanks for this forum and sorry for my bad english....

well, i've tried all possible ways to install macOS and i've read 14 pages of this forum before I posted this.

i got this problem in vmware when i clic on the erase (inizializza) button:

post-48839-1154508279_thumb.jpg

i've allready tried to remove the floppy drive from the vm settings and i'm sure that my disk is setted to "persistent". i also tried to add the line 'paevm = "TRUE"'.

the version of osX that i have is: myzar iso for AMD 10.4.4/10.4.5

this are my spec:

AMD 3400+ (SSE2)

MB: Asus K8V SE DELUXE

HD connected via SATA

i know that my pc is compatible with macOSx because i had installed 10.4.1 version before i try to install this

i also tried install without vmware, to boot of the dvd, but in the installation it doesn't find my harddisk in the disk utility.

got any ideas? thanks a lot...

Well, I have been able to install using Vmware in the past --- but this was using a 10gb space I made inside of VMware on my SATA drive.

When I tried to install to a complete partition using this mechanism the Mac OS X installer never sees this hard drive when I go into Disk Utility. The disk I am trying to install onto is a USB hard drive. I set in VMWare for the machine to use the complete device and VMware seems to find it ok...

Any ideas?

You can add another successful install to the list!! Whoohoo!!!

This is how I did it. Using acronis, I deleted my second partition (which I have been trying to install on for weeks) and then used diskpart to create a primary mac os x journaled partition. I THEN UNINSTALLED ACRONIS. Then I used vmware to install to the second partition on my hd from the Jas 10.4.6 iso, mounted with alcohol 120%. I then attempted to restart in vmware, got mbr error. Went to diskpart, made partition 2 active. restarted into darwin!!

The reason I had to do a vmware install was because when trying to boot, i was getting the network boot ethernet pxe client thingee. Many people on here think this error is a cd-rom problem, and I disagree. OS X recognizes my teac dw-224e-b combo drive just fine.

Sound works great, but in system profiler it shows nothing found. It seems to recognize my wired ethernet card, but i cannot connect. Wifi is a no go. The thing that is really bothering me is that my screen is at 1024x768 re., and I have a 17 inch widescreen at 1440x900. The screen is stretched. I will endeavour this morning to fix this. USB works fine. For some reason my ram is faster... in windows my ddr2 533mhz ram is only running at 266mhz, and that seems to be fixed in os x... wierd. Firewire is recognized. Oh and another thing. I have read in many posts that PAE is broken on Dothan 1.86... but that is not the case.

Well at least now my wife will be happy. She has almost killed me during this process, as I have had my laptop practically connected to me. Failure was not an option!!

my specs:

Fujitsu N6210

Pentium M 1.86

1.5 GB ddr2

broadcom 10/100

intel 22xx wifi

teac dw-224e-b combo drive

hitachi 80 gb hd

intel sata

usb mouse

Now I will use my acronis cd to dual boot, I expect no problems as I did the same with a p4 willamette 1.5 just last night, dual boot worked great.

Hey SABR,

I followed your instructions on installing through VM Ware, and the installation went great.

Then when i reboot with just the HD i used for the installation, i get the black screen with all the writing, then after all that i just get a blank gray screen. It just hangs there with nothing but the blank gray screen. Then after a couple of minutes, my computer restarts it self, and it keeps doing that. Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

i used the: Mac.OS.X.Tiger.10.4.6.X86-HOTiSO

my specs are:

During the installation, right before clicking on the Install button, did you first click on the Customize button and select packages that pertain to your computer? You had to click the little arrow to reveal the packages.

Yes, i did select Customize. but i didnt hit the arrows i just clicked the packages it self, and i also clicked x11?? what is x11? i noticed during the install i was getting AMD packages and i thought that was wierd.

im gonna try and reinstall again, and pick the right packages this time? ill let ya know if it worked.

thanks dude

X11 is a Unix windowing environment

You need to click the little arrow and select packages only for your computer. Otherwise, conflicting packages get installed.

Thanks dude, ill try that now

Update:

Thanks to rammjet my mac osx 86 now runs!!! the install was great. it seems to run great as well but i'am having video problems. the color is grey & blurry, it is very hard to read what is on the screen. Its wierd i get color on VM Ware, but when i do it native i get a blurry grey screen. I have Intel Extreme Graphics 845GV Video. If i was to get the original drivers for it, do you guys think it will work? Or is there a driver out there for Mac that i could use?

When I boot my VM it says

MBR Error 3

then

MBR Error 1
Press any key to boot from floppy..._

errorlo4.th.png

Pressing a key just makes it come up again.

Ive tried with the JaS 10.4.6 DVD, SuSE linux 10 and the gParted live CD and they all get the same error.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks.

thanks for the guide but i have a problem with the installation

everything works and installs correctly but when i reboot i'm told the harddrive is not recognized or not connected and is unable to boot into osx

i installed onto a 2nd ide drive and xp is on a sata

i changed the boot settings, used acronis boot loader, nothing seems to work

looking at the drive in disk director 31.5gb of unallocated space, this is a 40gb drive so i presume the rest is the osx install

any thoughts?

When I try to boot up to the installer and after the '8 second countdown' passes I see the message:

"System Config File /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/Com.apple.boot.plist can't be found"

The same goes for when I wait after or when I press a key during the countdown and when I type in -v for the Diagnosic Message. Do you guys know how to work around this? Thanks!

(As a side note please excuse the fact I'm a noob, and can hardly talk English, Thanks)

hey

can i do this with an external hard drive (USB)?

if so, will it leave my actual system unchanged?

thanks

Theoretically, yes you can. I've been trying to do this for a week or two with a firwire old iPod i have, the screen broke, so its worthless. also, if anyone wants to do that, make sure to leave at least a GB of hte original iPod, otherwise it wont act like a HDD.

If you are using a Parallel ATA (IDE) Drive.. be sure that it is the Primary Master, and the optical drive is you primary slave.. that helps make things much less complicated when doing an IDE install.

(only took me a week to figure this out.. LOL)

hi, im a total noob w/ no knowledge on subject. i installed mac via vm ware, and i can boot it in vm ware, but when i boot natively no text comes up, xp just loads. im 100% sure im loading mac. any ideas?

you need do use the chain0 method. i can't remember where to get it. search the forums.
