Mysteriously, the new UI that Mac users love that is currently in Safari could not be found in this release. Also, a mixture of the Tiger UI and the Leopard UI is present. The dialogue boxes have the old pinstripes that we have all gotten enough of.
Well, for one thing, Asus claims that they are helping Apple build one. AppleInsider has been reporting that the Tablet is real since this last February. But is it real? Most are expecting it to be released at MacWorld this coming January. But what will the Tablet look like and what specs will it have? Some say that it will be thin, have a 13.3 inch screen, have a solid state hard drive, and maybe no optical drive. And of course it will have a great battery life, something that all companies struggle with. Most, if not all tablets are expensive, above the $2000 range. But, if Apple were to release a sub notebook below $2000, they might have a winning product.
While this was reported on Friday, I just saw it, but some hacker has installed Apple's new Operating System, Leopard, on the Eee PC. For those who don't know, the Asus Eee PC is a sub-notebook with Linux installed. It weighs just 2 Lb, has a 7" screen, 4GB of Solid Storage, a 900MHz Celeron, and 512MB of Ram. The reviews of the machine have been very good, but say that the keyboard is a bit cramped, and the screen resolution is not very good (800 x 600). The hacker did install Leopard, but downgraded to Tiger, because of the specs of the slow processor speed and the amount of RAM. It goes to show, OS X will run on almost anything.
Lately, many mods have been released for Leopard's UI. Here, I will show you a few of them:
1. Opaque Menu Bar
This one is quite simple, it only involves editing a variable in one of the preference files. A very simple edit can lead to a much better menu bar.

2. Custom Stack Drawer Icons
If the custom drawer icons just aren't enough for you, TUAW shows us all how to make new drawer icons with an image editing program as simple as Preview.

3. Recent Items In Dock
We all know that the smart folder in the Finder's Sidebar cannot be dragged to the Dock. But someone has found a very simple way to add a recent items Stack in the Dock. You can choose from Recent Applications, Recent Documents, Recent Servers, Favorite Volumes, and Favorite Items. This is a very welcome addition.

Today, yet another study came out with results that contradicted the experience that I have with my iPhone. They say that the iPhone's keyboard is less reliable than other QWERTY keyboards on other phones, such as the Blackjack or Q. But it gets worse, the study shows that the people made more than twice as many errors as the people who had real keyboards. But I smell something fishy. I think the people who tested the iPhone's keyboard were given new iPhones. Therefore, the phone would have no memory of what words that the people type, or what words the study wanted them to type. On my iPhone, which I bought the first day, corrects almost every single mistake that I make, making me type much faster. Although this is making the test fair-er, Apple knew people would type slower and make twice as many as mistakes, which is why they put in the error corrector.

Today, many hackers released a GUI jailbreak method for the iPhone. There is one hitch though: you need to downgrade your iPhone or iPod Touch back to 1.1.1 first. The software, on both OS X and Windows, grabs the data off your iPod Touch or iPhone, upgrades it with the Jailbreak, installs Installer and SSH, and itself, back to your device. The whole thing takes about 10 minutes and afterwards, you have a fully updated 1.1.2 jailbroken system.
