    Folders before Files!

    By Numberzz, in OSx86,

One of our own members, DAddYE, has made a short guide about how to get the order that the Finder puts files in. Normally, if you had a .zip file, a folder, and a .png, all with the same name, it would go in that order stated above. He has written a short guide about how to change the order of which the Finder displays items, which allows folders to go before anything else.

    Stacks added to Installer.app

    By Numberzz, in OSx86,

For a while, you have been able to install a stack on your iPhone or iPod Touch. But just recently, the ability to add a stack has been added to Installer.app. Stacks behave the same that you would expect them to. Just tap "Install Stack" and restart your device. The stack will be added to your Dock. One is added to the Dock and when you click on it, it's contents fan out. Here are some screenshots:

    Server Virtualization

    By Numberzz, in OSx86,

While this story is a bit old, some of you probably still don't know. Apple has changed the end user agreement in the server version of Leopard to state that it can now be run in a Virtual Machine. Being able to run multiple servers on one Xserve may also lead to companies choosing a real server machine over a Mac Pro with OS X Server installed. This also means that there could be a Xserve update soon. It takes a lot of horsepower to run multiple servers on one Xserve.

    iTunes Radio for iPhone Soon?

    By Numberzz, in OSx86,

A section about data plans on AT&T's website revealed something interesting. "While using data on iPhone is free within the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, International data roaming can get expensive quickly. Consider that just 20 minutes of iTunes radio takes 20MB of data. That's why AT&T has created two iPhone International packages with more reasonable rates in 29 countries." Now that makes sense, but there is one little mistake: iTunes Radio doesn't exist! Do you think AT&T could know about a future iTunes feature for the iPhone? We can only hope. AT&T's website has been updated so it no longer has a reference to iTunes Radio.

Finally, the MacBooks have been updated. The new MacBooks have the Santa Rosa chip, and a new 800MHz front-side bus. You have a choice of either a 2 or 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo. But here is the good news: the Intel GMA 950 is finally out of the door, being replaced by the GMA X3100, with 144MB of shared memory. The total amount of RAM you can have has been raised to 4GB.

    Leopard's First Virus

    By Numberzz, in OSx86,

Already, a trojan horse virus has been let out on Leopard. But trojans are the least effective uses of a virus, because it needs the users' log in name and password to be entered. The virus appeared on some pornography sites. There is a still frame picture of the movie, and clicking on it brings you to a page that says you need a new version of a codec and needs you to download it. Then the user needs to enter their password and it starts messing with their system. Doing the normal virus stuff.

    Modding Leopard's Dock

    By Numberzz, in OSx86,

Today, some folks over at TUAW have released some files about how to get Leopard's Dock a little less ugly. They released files that can bring back the old black indicator triangles that were once there in Tiger. They have also figured out how to change the Color of the Dock backround. It's really not that complicated, but it involves changing some files around.

Just this morning, many hackers released a very easy way to jailbreak your iPhone. In fact, you don't even need your computer! Just go to Safari and then to go jailbreakme.com. At the bottom of the page, just select "JailBreak Me" and then Safari will quit, bringing you to the home screen. Do not touch your iPhone until you see the "Slide to Unlock" page. When you next see the home screen, it will have Installer.app waiting right there for you to use it. You might have to restart your phone if it seems slow. Jailbreaking puts your Phone in a state of letting files be able to be written to it, so 3rd party apps can be installed.
