Hey guys,

Ok so i have a question.

I currently have a Mac Pro 3.1 (5400 Harpertown) with Mac OSX and the new Mac version of the 8800GT everythings working fine as expected as its all compatible etc.

Now i want to change my 8800GT to a PC version of the 9800GTX.

I have read a lot on forums about it but i still cant seem to get a clear awnser.

My question is this.

Will a 9800GTX work in my Mac Pro under VISTA 64?

Will Mac OSX work ok with it also?

If it runs in Vista and not OSX thats fine as i would only use it for gamming.

But could i have my 8800GT in there as well so when i boot OSX i can use my 8800GT if OSX dosent read the 9800GTX

I have heard people talking about having to flash the PC cards to work in a mac but is this only if you are wanting to use it under a Mac OS?

If i can just put the 9800GTX in my mac and run it under Vista then thats me sorted and ill buy one first thing in the morning.

Any help would be great!

Mac Specs bellow if it helps!

Mac Pro 2008

(8 Core 5400 Xeon Harpertown)

OSX + VISTA 64 on bootcamp partition.

16GB Ram

8800GT (Mac)

320GB HDD

Cheers,

Kristopher

aqua-mac > What is the status of this thread ? Shouldn't it be closed or at least updated with avaibility of your installer v2 ?

Also, is there any decent tutorial covering the installation of installer and use of gfx string ?

hi!

i've tried all of the suggestions to make QE/CI enabled under kaly 10.5.2 and jas 10.5.4 but none of them worked. now i tried ideneb v1.3 10.5.5 and now it's (almost) perfect after a clean install (without gfx string or anything else), so those ppl, who had no luck with 9800gtx 'till this time, may try this release...

i have only one question:

is there any way to make tv-out working through s-video? detect displays does nothing.

thx

Hi Aqua-Mac,

I'm intending to buy a Gigabyte GV N98XPZL-1GH to upgrade the current Hackintosh. Currently, it works quite well with the Asus ATI HD 3650 but I need some more power for my work. Is this card compatible with Mac? Can I follow your instruction with this card?

Best regards,

I've been reading a lot of different threads and trying several different things and I'm still unable to get CI/QE to work on my 9800GTX.

I have an Asus P5K Wifi-AP

The card work pretty well out of the box w/ the exception of CI/QE

It seems that when I don't have the NVInject.kext or NVdarwin.kext I'm limited to 1024x768 and the windows smear and become translucent

My latest method was Aqua-Mac's v2 installer ... I was hoping these updated kexts would work but same results.

I should note that I've installed the retail version of Leopard using efi_boot_v6.1

I've read so many back threads and it seems like things have been changing so much in the last 6 - 8 months it gets confusing.

Do I need EFI v8 or Chameleon EFI if I'm using this method under 10.5.5?

I've been at this for several days and it's getting frustrating.

any help would be awesome!

Im posting here specifically because I own a Geforce 9800 GTX+ (plus)

I successfully entered into Leopard, I changed the desktop background. Nothing extra installed.

But when I clicked on "Display" to check resolution, I did not click anything just clicked "Display" nothing else. And I got stuck with this blue screen with no cursor, nothing on it.

3101671351_25a4ea8f54_m.jpg

We can be sure it is graphics problem ??

I know this card works in OSx86.

Can I resolve this issue without reinstalling OS ?

Here is some solution- http://osx86help.we.bs/#10

Using this method I can remove the injector. They say It's now up to you to reinstall the injecter correctly or to find an other one that works.

I want to know which injector to install for my card, how to install and where can I find it ?

Please help guys... :P

Have posted here and here also. Later I decided to post here as this is dedicated 9800 thread.

Waiting for reply.

Is there any reason to think that a 9800 GTX+ with 1G of memory will not work? Newegg doesn't have the Zotac cards anymore, so I am looking at the 9800 GTX+'s and there is a Gigabyte card that is a little smaller than most of the others and only has 1 power connector on it. I'd like to go with this card, but I thought there was something about Leopard not supporting 1G of memory on video cards. If the card would work as 512Mb in the Mac I think I'd be OK with it, since I'll be doing most of the (limited) gaming I would do in XP.

Thoughts? If there is question about it working I'll save a few dollars and get the XFX one.

Thanks!

I have Mac os Leopard 10.5.2 on my pc and it says that Qaurtz Extreme isn't supported. I have a 64 mg onboard graphics card. is there any way i can force the transparency in the menu bar on. i was able to get aero to work on an unsupported video card on my vista machine so i wondering if there was anyway to do this on a mac. aslo, ubuntu transparency works on this computer so why shouldn't the apple transparency work.
