has anyone tested this with a GTS 250?

I have gotten the driver

but as you can see my quartz extreme isn't supported, any ideas? If I were to install this 9800GTX driver would i need to uninstall any drivers I added?

EDIT: instead of using a GTS 250 driver, I used a 8800GT driver which works for QE!

Hi,

The other day my hard drive broke and being me, I didn't do a backup.

So I've had to reinstall 10.6.2 from scratch onto my GA-EP35-DS3L mobo. I think it's all gone ok except I can't get my Nvidia 9800 GTX 1GB working again.

I think last time I used NVinstaller and just chose 756MB. But it failed this time for some reasons :S.

I've tried loads of other methods with no luck, the most I've got is dual screen monitors. But no graphics acceleration.

Please help.

For GTS 250

Did you use the kext by Skyfluffy ? I think I've got the same one.

I was dropping frames on QT and having mouse jitter and stutter and I trashed: AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext from /System/Library/Extensions/

Amazing the QT plays ok: all sorts of codecs I don't believe it. Mouse is smooooth. Blood pressure down.

I will now live 3.2 years longer.

Snow Leopard 10.6.2 up and running thanks to a lot of information I gathered on this forum.

One problem though in the system profiler the card shows up fine (used EFI string),

however when connecting a second display via DVI the system freezes

I was wondering whether anyone else came across the same problem or if anyone has found a solution !?

thanks;

I can't seem to get my 9800gtx working since the .2 update of snow leopard. I had it working in .1 using dsdt strings and simulating it as an 8800gt ...

Could someone who has got it working give me some pointers, right now I have no qe/ci and no display resolutions.

I have been trying to enable the card using efi strings like i did in 10.5.7 but no go... I'm stumped!

Could someone who got their 9800gtx+ 512mb working in 10.6.2 post what they did ...

I had mine working with dsdt for 10.6.1 but after the update i cant get qe/ci working as well as displays! (0612) I tried the same efi strings for the boot.plist but it doesnt seem to make any difference either. Most of the info I find relates to 10.5.6 ! LOL

im using chameleon rc3 with a q9550 quad core and an ep45ds3l board.

Hi all! I have googled all over the place looking for a good solution and have not been able to get this working yet. I have Snow Leopard installed on my machine, and I am using Chameleon 2 RC3. My video card is recognized as "NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX DDL" in the System Profiler, but I am not getting any hardware acceleration.

e.g. The menu bar is not transparent, there are no ripples when I add a new widget to Dashboard, and when I ran OpenGL tests, they were incredibly slow, and it said they were rendering with the Apple Software Renderer. Yuk.

I have tried a lot of different things. Using aqua-mac's kexts and NVinject from Leopard, I can get my screen to go to the correct resolution. I have tried EFI strings, and that doesn't seem to do anything, really. I am very confused about all of these different things. I read that someone was able to get this card working in Snow Leopard with only EFI strings and DSDT. What is DSDT, and how do I do that?

Thanks!

I was earlier using EFI string too for my Nvidia 9800 gr 1gb, but now I'm working it with

Graphicsenablers=y in boot.plist, also working in 10.6.1. and now 10.6.2 without any problem

You can try that (i'm using PCEFI 10.5 or RC4), or try the new hack the comes with PCEFI 10.5 / RC4, state your pciroot(graphic card slot) in boot.plist with string pciroot, key 0/1

ok?

This is the problem

It has two dvi ports one doesn't seem to work at all. The other works with a moniter with a dvi to vga converter cable or it will work with a dvi to hdmi converter till it loads the desktop and then it losses signal and everything freezes. I'm guessing its a problem with the kext but I haven't been able to find anything with this graphics card.

Please help

Thanks

Hey I have a question?!

I currently have a 9800GT, on 64-bit 10.6.2 and it works perfectly!

If I buy a GTX 200 series card, will it work on 64-bit kernel? and Can I get my old 9800gt to work with it, I really want to get them both to work so I can use the 9800GT for a PhyX card on windows, but still have the two cards working on snow leopard, So I can have lots of graphics Processing resources, when virtualizing windows via parrallels/wmware

I really want to know soon, because if there is absolutely no way to get it to work I will sell my 9800gt, but I don't want to if I don't have to

Anybody who has a EVGA 9800 GTX +, do you find it slightly irritatingly loud? It has been bugging me, and is there a way to fix this?

bump - I have a PNY 9800 GTX+ 512MB and the fan definitely runs loud on it. Any ideas on how to tune down the fan?

Thanks

I have that same problem but have not been able to get the card to work in anything more than 1024x768 on one monitor. I've read through this entire thread, as well as the aquamac forum one, and I can't figure out what to do to get it working.

From what I understand I need leopard, I did a snow leopard fresh install, in order to get some strings?

i was able to run my display at 1920 x 1200 doing a clean Snow Leopard install - but i only have 1 monitor. I have been trying to figure out how to get the EFI strings as well since I only have Snow Leopard hoping that might help me control the fan speed/monitor temps.

Are you using anything like NVinject? I've been reading all day and am completely and 100% baffled at getting my card to do anything more than 1024x768.

I used this guide to get SL installed: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=185097

Hi, I used the EP45UD3P Install method method to install. I didn't have to modify any drivers out of the box for my system. Everything just seemed to work. However my CPU temp sensors dont register nor do my GPU temp sensors. I cannot figure out a way to controll my GPU fan speed either.

Hi, I used the EP45UD3P Install method method to install. I didn't have to modify any drivers out of the box for my system.

I also have used this method. I needed to install audio kext as well as one for ethernet. Now I am stuck on the graphics card. I HAVE already successfully got my nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX working on my Hackintosh about 6 months ago. Then recently something went wrong, leading to me reinstalling the OS. Now I can't get the graphics card working, and forgot how I did it. I have tried kexts from many websites including aquamac's one. So far nothing has worked, I tried OSX86 tools with the 9800 GTX 512mb EFI string with aquamacs kexts, then a permissions repair but that did not work. I don't have the extensions file that needs to be deleted in aquamac's tutorial, but I did find it in a different location on the hardrive /extra/extenions.(filename) but the result of deleting it is not booting after restart.

I also tried installing the 9000 series GeForce v2 installer and that leads to stopping at the apple loading screen on startup. All other methods like kexts don't do anything bad, the system still boots (unlike the 9 series installer) but just doesn't install the graphics card. In about this mac it shows up as 32mb memory but the resolution is 1680x1050. Not sure if that means its half working or not, dashboard lags which proves its not workin properly.

Any help would be great, I would love to get it working again. THANKS :(

Thanks

I've looked high and low and I can't seem to figure out how to either manually control the stock fan speed or have it dynamically adjust the fan speed based on the GPU usage/temp.

I know this isn't a great answer/solution to the fan noise issue, but I ended up getting a Thermalright Trad2 after-market VGA cooler. I left the 2 x 92mm fans that come with the Trad2 attached (they run at 1500rpm and are about as quiet as a fan can get) and my hard seems to be cooled sufficiently. Unfortunately I still am unable to access the GPU's temperatures in OS X so i cant monitor the temp directly, but it has been stable for about 2 weeks now under normal load (no restarts, video artifacts, etc.)

So for all yall that want a solution to your 9800 GTX+ fan-noise solution pronto, this one works :D

I was reading over on the EVGA boards that to fix the fan problem (what they described as not being able to go below 60% in EVGA precision), some of the GTX 9800+ s need to be reflashed. Specifically model number 512-p3-n871-ar, which I have. One of the devs over there said to email him and he would send u the ISO to supposedly fix it. Does reflashing sound like something that could help our problem?

I have no way of knowing what % our fans are running due to the fact that EVGA Precision is a Windows Program.

I have a xfx 9800GTX+ 512mb working on snow 10.6.2
