Guys, fresh eyes please because mine has gone as glassy as the Tahoe UI

Please take a look and see why this EFI is stalling at KextLog: Loading FileSet K (s).

EFI.zip 10.88 MB · 3 downloads

I would remove AMFIPass.kext , XHCI-unsupported.kext and  the patch in the Kernel as well " Patch For Hot Plugging Drives "

if it still doesn't work try adding the patch in the Booter " Skip Board ID check "

Or try with macPro71

Oh my Captain, you still have a long way to go in this stormy sea, but I see that the promised land is near. 😆

Is the Intel HD 620 Graphics is compatible?

I am asking myself the same question, cause both updating and new installation will not reach the login window.

I am very near as you, if I say that computer is concerned, is my old HP EliteBook 2570P, with an i7-3632QM running currently Sequoia 15.5 with a lot of patches, I finally managed the install and post-install with @robi62 who helps me sending his EFI from HP EliteBook 8470P last year, but surpringsily, I am able to install Tahoe with the same EFI changing OC 1.0.5 to latest commit base kexts, and also Ethernet (blinks orange and green), Audio (Voiceover talks at startup), BT/WiFi (BRCM 2070A2/BRCM 4352HMB not working now), also HD 4000.
I attach 2 screenshots, one during the install, and another one from first startup, important, I can´t pass this screen to create the user and reach the desktop, it goes from black screen and restart the laptop, also works USB 3.0 and ACPI (Turbo-Boost tells me).
Also the scructure from Tahoe volume is exactly as you posted.

You way ahead of me. I am stuck and back at Zero again. I give up for tonight.

Tried a fresh install via usb and get stuck here. I give up now and going to sleep. over 9 hours straight and getting nowhere slowly. In the Z790 EFI, all usb kexts are disabled and SSDT.UIAC is in ACPI so not sure what that is.

I see that, I am very surprised with these old laptop running very nearly to desktop, but I can´t pass the last screen, I supposed that if it boots, I were rechaed the desktop, but this time I am confused, becasuse of black screen and reboot, every boot, runs again the first configuration, and a loop.

Very good luck.

Cheers.

@eSaF

Hey bud! I know this is frustrating, but I suggest to wait a bit more to before doing anything maybe we can resolve the issue before swapping the mainboard or changing anything in BIOS to mess the working OSes.

Let me try something and get back to you. I'll send you a PM to avoid cluttering this topic.

I am using OC 1.0.5 with latest kexts

Not sure if you read my previous message from last page or so. I'm having the exact same issue. The error is above that point. By that point, the computer is already preparing to reboot.

There are a couple of lines that drew my attention from my log. But I didn't have time to investigate too much, and since I can boot Sequoia perfectly fine with the same config and EFI files, I'm thinking the issue is probably specific to Tahoe. So far, I have no solution to that.

entering _ramrod_device_has_usbcretimer
Failed to create DT nodes for IODeviceTree...

And then:

No port micro restart (we don't support SMC on this platform).

You could try to boot with your iGPU, if it's configured, and see if that makes a difference. But so far, I had no success and my iGPU is currently set in "headless" mode. So I don't wanna spend time trying to get that to work, since I will never use it this way.

@Cyberdevs - Hiya Bud, your EFI got me to this screen and stalled.

Prior to tests today I tried Default BIOS settings with negative result

Strange though, I was convinced it would work, and that was what I suggested
I tried to boot mine with that EFI  (  macPro7.1 😆  )  and it works, I just removed "agdpmod=pikera" ... I didn't touch anything else

Spoiler

You are a lot closer than I am.

@eSaF I don't try to install Tahoe Beta 1 on my Z390 machine, because  I have a Radeon RX580 as GPU. Do you use your AMD RX 580 or iGPU ?

Hi fast runners,

I tried the incremental update from Sequoia 15.5 to Tahoe, after replacing kexts with the latest one , it downloaded , restarted and booted from Macos Installer partition but I am stuck at password screen. It does not accept my password. I tried to reset the pw in recovery mode but nothing changed.

Any succession is welcomed. I have two Sequoia installations in two different SSD disks. I tried this on my test disk

Thanks @Shaneee , I will try this. By the way, do you know if there is any specific reason of this failure?  I need to avoid it to happen in my second update attemps.

@eSaF I had same error and here is what i did :

- Create another boot EFI on another drive and save my current EFI for Sequoia. So i have to EFI bootloader (one on a Hard drive and the other on the USB stick)

- I updated OC, Lilu, VirtualSMC etc...

- I removed whatevergreen from usb stick and put NootRX. Then I did the second boot and it passed the KC error with NootRX

- Third boot, I booted on the normal EFI with whatevergreen (Harddrive) and it showed me the login page (NootRX boot freezed)

I need to fix my usb port but it worked this way.

I hope it will help you

No Bud, I am using iGPU (in CPU).

There seems to be a general consensus that support for some Graphic cards including RX 5xx may have been dropped.

I also gave up yesterday. After 3 hours of trying, I haven't been able to get it to work on the only computer I have available for testing. Tahoe breaks everything. In the end, I opted to use only USB 2.0, and it boots right up to the installation screen and hangs. The 6650xt won't boot at all, not with NootRX, nor with the SSDT, which works perfectly on the Sequoia. And I also think it doesn't like my Kingston NVMe, a total disaster, haha.

I have more Windows computers, and I can test them today. If anyone has an EFI that works on an Asus X870F gaming and a 9600x, I'd be very grateful if you could send it to me so I can try Tahoe.

Thanks.

you can generate the kext yourself

I created usbmap.kext but I don’t know why is not working on Tahoe

m I something missing?

I have working usbport.kext fine on sequoia

please provide your usbmap.kext

i will see what I m missing

@eSaF OK. So I wait for new OCLP including RX 5xx solution. My Z390 config is my main machine with Windows 11 on separate HDD.
