On my old machine, patched using the Dosdude1 patched for hardware not compatible with Metal, I can not download the update Mojave app via App Store. Even on exactly same laptop model but with different BIOS versions, ACPI tables (DSDT, SSDT, etc) will be different so.. it'll not work on your case, I guess.
