The GMA900/950 thing is now a known issue, latest is that you need to back ou & restore your Open GL frameworks as there are newer ones in the update which are incompatible with GMA.

I haven't had time to verify this yet, so anyone with fresher information, please come forwards..

Once again, may I remind you not to discuss methods of decryption on these forums.

Thanks, Hagar.

i'm downloading this file as well (and i will seed it a lot) and i'm wondering as well as some other people: do we just have to run the installer and that's basically it or do we have to do anything else as well?...can someone please finally answer this for us?

Vitaliy da same here after reboot only cursor showed and black screen.

How can i fix it?

You need try to boot as Safe mode.

After hit F8, then use this option "-x -v" then enter.

You will have a Safe mode.

And you have to find out solution like as koverge patch, Calisto Patch, etc.

I think these problem is caused by Graphic Card patch.

After installing the update I see teh Apple Logo turning around... cool but it stops finaly and i can move the mouse aroufd on it.

I tracked the issue down to the ncluded crypto module, it just hangs .... I will try to fidn a solution for this.

I have the same problem.

This is what I get: (with -v)

decoding.....

decoding..... All OK

and then it tells me login windows application started and nothing happens. I just kept on waiting and waiting...

without -v command I get the same results as ttyseven.

same thing happens even in safe mode.

I wonder if this is an SSE3 issue because I only have SSE2

ok, i added no 10.4.8 kexts, you use the kexts that are on ur system. some 10.4.8 kexts are working but i lost my list of the ones which work and it took me a long time to get those so i cant do it again.

10.4.7 kernel work, well as far as i know the kernel isnt quartz friendly so windowserver doesnt run.

Thanks Kiko,

I will seed it until Oct 31st.

here's my quick fix

note im running Intel 915G GMA900

had the {censored} black screen after update

booted into safe mode (i.e. hold down f at boot then use -x -v)

reinstalled the GMA900 support from my JaS DVD

booted back up and video is working again.

need to do some work to get my ghetto keyboard and networking useable again.

good luck

new problem:

now my machine boots fine, but then it gets to the 'loading' part (blue screen with the apple logo) before prompting for user login and just waits. Nothing happens, none of the 'percent loading' graphic updates. just sits . This is odd.

anyone with the same prob ?

ok great the JAS 10.4.7 fixed the whole network thing  lol

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry183260

+ u'll need the 10.4.8 SMBFS.kext :) enjoy !!

100% fixed

:D Hi cyclonefr, but this is old. Did you experience networking problems after applying the 10.4.8 update? What do you mean by "u'll need the 10.4.8 SMBFS.kext" :) ? Extract that via pacifist into the Extensions folder, then in Terminal

diskutil repairpermissions /

chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/*.kext

then run {censored}-X's patch? (mind, that was not JaS but {censored}-X who figured out those solutions).

tsun:

I just posted a possible solution. But here it is again.

I have 10.4.8 running happily on my GMA900 desktop.

All I had to do was reboot in safe mode -x and reinstall the GMA900 package found on JaS 10.4.6.

GMA900 users can find the same package here:

1. go to www.art5dog.com/techcast

2. Scroll to GMA900

3. Read the comments.

4. The encrpted package and password is there.

5. Read all comments.

I would post a direct link, but don't want to violate the DMCA. I figured this should suffice.

Goodtime

cyclone - where do we add the r2d2.kext in /etc/rc ?

ttyseven - I'm stuck at the same position as you. Black screen with mouse - nothing further.

Does this have to do with r2d2 or with Quartz.framework, Quartzcore.framework and the OpenGL.framework ?
