Hey Andy,

I have 10.6.8 up and running pretty well on my P8P67,

Only have a few gripes/questions.

1. Audio Pops :

I keep getting audio pops right before a sound effect starts playing but only if it hasnt made a sound in a while, If i continue to play music in the background no pops occur.

2. Mac App Store (No GUID is available) :

When i try to log in to the mac app store, I get red text beneath the log in screen saying " No GUID is available. Contact Support for assistance. "

2Q4Al.png

3. Bluetooth Pairing - I've attempted to pair both my iPhone and iPad through the built-in mobo bluetooth unfortunately on both devices i got an error prompt saying the pair was unsuccesful.

PaTJv.png

4. ATI Card Incorrect Name - This seemed strange to me, I have a 5670 but it came up as a 5000, should it appear this way?

4O7NL.png

Beyond these little quirks, this is the farthest i've ever gotten with an OS X installation and i really wanted to thank you for the excellent tutorial and software you've put together.

Thanks!

Thanks Andy for the new updates! BTW, quick question, will the Mac OS X Lion GM release work with your new Boot CD 5.0?

I think the reason for your installation crashing is because of this (thanks to TooSixy!):

To prevent Kernel Panics when updating to Mac OS X 10.6.8:

a. Remove the ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin.kext file from

IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/Plugins

b. Rebuild kext cache using ##### > System Utilities or Kext Wizard

1. Use this Anti-Pop to fix that (it is part of OS X power saving by turning off the audio). It works by continuously playing a muted audio tone so your sound doesn't turn off. It uses a little bit of CPU but negligible for most people.

2. I do not have this issue. You cannot log in or does your entire Mac App Store not work?

3. The onboard bluetooth is quirky for me. Neither my iPod Touch 4G, iPhone 4, nor iPad 2 work with it (even in Windows it has issues). My Magic Mouse hates the onboard bluetooth, but my keyboard and trackpad work fine. I just ended up buying a D-Link DBT-122 adapter from eBay for $10 to solve all of the issues.

4. It is merely cosmetic. Do not worry about it.

Changes..

New package for P8P67 Sabertooth motherboards has been added (feedback appreciated please because I can't test this package myself).

System definition has been updated to 12,2 in smbios and the elusive USB3.0 kext has been added back in because I appear to have accidentally missed it from my last set of packages.

Thanks for the update Andy. I think I can speak for everybody when I saw we really appreciate your continued support.

+1, Thanks Andy for your continued support and patient replies, and also for supporting us Sabertooth folks. Also thanks to Bism4rck for the Sabertooth DSDT.

Having messed up my system once before fiddling around (all in the name of learning), I'm a bit wary of updating a system that's working perfectly fine (to my requirements at least - have not tried Bluetooth as I'm not using it after having some issues with cheap BT dongles, and also not using sleep). So I'm a bit undecided whether to update 10.6.8 or go straight to Lion.

Q1: I'm not using any DSDT for my Sabertooth, but have not had any issues. Will using Bism4rck's DSDT help me in any way?

Q2: To update to 10.6.8, is it as simple as running the combo update and running the Andy package? If that's it I would probably go ahead with it while I read up on the Lion install.

Q3: Using Andy's USB method for Lion, I will end up with a bootable USB. If I boot into that, will it allow me to update my SL 10.6.7 or do I have to do a clean install?

Thanks again to everyone who is helping us noobs!

*EDIT* I updated to 10.6.8 by running the combo update. about 1/3rds of the way the system crashed with the restart your computer screen. Restarted to find that finder kept crashing. Tried to run the combo update again but as mentioned, no luck with the finder and spotlight was reindexing my hard drives. Waited for that to finish and then used spotlight to locate the comboupdate package and ran it again. This time it went smoothly. Then ran the Sabertooth package (latest one) and restarted. Booted fine, and system ran for 5 minutes before showing the restart screen again. Booted it again, and now system is running for around an hour without any problem. Wondering if my Finder crash had anything to do with the fact that I'm using TotalFinder.

*EDIT 2* I've used the Sabertooth Package, so I'm already using Bism4rck's DSDT, but would still appreciate an answer to Q1

Thank you so much for your continued support Andy! I successfully installed 10.6.8 by getting a clean install on a SSD, restoring it to a HDD, using ##### 3.1.1 to enter the HDD version of 10.6.3 and installing 10.6.8 onto the SSD. Here is where I get problems...

After successfully installing 10.6.8 I remain on the HDD and install your boot CD (Asus P8P67 Pro) to the SSD. But, when I use ##### and enter the newly minted 10.6.8 SSD image internet and audio do not work and I get a KP when I connect a USB drive.

I downloaded the Sleepenabler kext, Trim Enabler, ##### and the official NVidia drivers to my HDD and am able to access them through finder when I booted to the SSD, so I can install all of those items. But, when I run ##### to try to fix the audio/ethernet/USB problems I worry that I am undoing some of the fine work in your package because I then have issues booting.

Also, sometimes, the system only allows me 4gb of ram, despite recognizing that I have one 4gb stick in each slot.

Is there a clean method of installing your package after the 10.6.8 update that I am missing? Should I boot into the 10.6.8 SSD before installing your package or should the install from the HDD work? Are there a specific order of steps I should run after installing your package or should I be able to install your package and the nvidia drivers and be ready to rock?

Thank you! You rule!

Well i finally got a hold of a 9800 from a friend.. .so i decided to give this a go.. had a previous first gen i7 build and i had a stable OS and loved it. However with my new build i wanted a 6950 and was expecting support in lion (go figure there is none). Well tried about 3 times last night and fail/fail/fail. I can't seem to get my audio / graphics working.. i don't get the option to go full Res. I followed this guide to the very end. i get bluetooth / and i believe ethernet... don't have a modem in my room to try but i see it in my preferences.

Things ive tried.. dragging everything to the desktop and installing from there.

NV enabler from ##### followed by kext utility.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Also 10.6.8 crashes during install

and the andy boot package dosen't seem to make an extensions folder in extra anymore? however when i installed it on 10.6.4 it did and i was able to copy the sleep enabler.. but than again i was also using a older andyboot (not 4.0) idk if with the new 4.0 all the kext go to a different ext folder instead of making one in extra?

My specs

P8P67 PRO

Intel 80GB SSD

Zotac 9800

4GB G.Skill 1600 Ram

What package should I be using for the P8P67-Evo? Ive tried installing a few times but something always seems to go bad. Last time i tried it seemed like it worked but after i installed the package and restarted the graphics went haywire. (Every thing but the mouse was a rainbow of random colored pixles.) Any ideas?

I have:

Sandy Bridge 2600k

8GB Corsair something

2x Radeon HD 5870 1.25GB

5x assorted hdds

Hi,

one question from an absolut OSx86-newbie:

Will the packages also work with the µATX version of the ASUS mainboard, the P8P67-M Pro?

Has anyone tried this already?

Hi,

Andy Thanks! for your great help!!!

I have a plain P8P67. What does the P8P67 has less than P8P67Pro?

I read somewhere in this thread that it is missing the DSDT edits for the PRO board. Do those matter?

I see a lot of discussion in http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=22298

for editing modules and kexts to achieve speedstepping and sleep.

Do I gain anything more from the DSDTs?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot Andy for your hard work.

Quick question:

I used your previous boot CD to install OSX on a system with an ASUS P8P67-M (non-pro)

I had to use ##### to enable ethernet, and used the PDF guide posted earlier and found here:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=20560

Does the post install program you supply install drivers for a Radeon HD6870? ##### has these drivers, and some people suggest selecting in #####, but I'm not sure why I would do that. I did that and it works fine, but I dont want to install files needlessly.

I did not have sound working, as the P8P67-M Pro uses the 887 sound card, but luckily someone on Tonymac was able to help and provide me with a kext:

1. option - use AppleHDA

- remove ALC8xxHDA from /E/E

- put attached ALC887vdHDA_6Ch_RMic_SPDIF.kext into /E/E

- run ##### with selected System Utilities + AppleHDA Rollback + ALC887/888b HDAEnabler

- reboot

- you should get stereo out as Internal Speakers or headphones if plugged-in + 2 more lines out + SPDIF out + rear mic in + rear line in

- SPDIF not tested - would be nice to hear if this works

- if switching between IntSpeakers and headphones does not work for you, then download rafirafi's original version from the second link and replace ALC887vdHDA_6Ch.. with that one (plus run ##### with System Utilities only)

I also installed fake SMC, USB3 and a few other bits and pieces as suggested by the PDF guide, but if I understand correctly, your boot CD is a stand alone program that should not require #####? However untill I used #####, my system showed as having DDR2 RAM at 800mhz.

Would you recommend re-running the post installed on my system? Do you know if your new CD will support the non pro P8P67 fully?

I do not have bluetooth working, and if the computer falls asleep, I cannot wake it up, so I had to turn off sleep in power preferences.

If anyone else can offer me any advice please do so!

Thanks

Saad

Does anyone have the attachment for the 887 audio mentioned here please? I can't seem to find it anywhere ;)

I'm running 10.6.8 on a P8P67 Rev 3.1 but still got some issues:

- Sleep is not working (Added the newest Sleep Enabler kext)

- I have an AMD6870, the second DVI-Port isn't working (I'm going to get a HDMI -> DVI Cable to test the HDMI port)

- Ethernet isn't working so far, can't see it in system -> network

- I'm using a WLAN USB Stick to connect to the internet, I installed the drivers but I'm not able to see it either in system -> network

Does Speedstep work out of the box with the 10.8.0 Kernel?

You can change the GraphicsEnabler=Yes to GraphicsEnabler=No to get the 2nd DVI working. That will stop you from using Geekbench, Steam, DVD Player, and a few other things that require a framebuffer to be specified.

Download the Realtek ethernet driver. Works fine for me.

Does your computer see the USB stick in system profiler? Try repairing permissions or manually extracting the kexts for it using pacifist and installing them yourself via kext utility or kext wizard.

I can't get sleep working either, so no help here =/

AHCI?

Yes. I've read about something along the lines of SpeedStand.. (SpeedStep?) or something.. where can I find that in my UEFI, and should it be on/off?

Edit: I do use a MacBook Pro late-2010 install DVD. Also, when I boot the Install DVD from you Boot DVD it says "DMI table entries list is full! Next entries won't be stored!" about 4-5 times in the top left-hand corner before the apple and the spinning circle appears.

Which boot cd are you using because that DMI table entries error was fixed absolutely ages ago!!!
