kernalzero
egyptian vicker, and everyone out there correct me if this is wrong, but that command will log you in as root to force prebinding on the update you just installed?!? It was used to optimize the system in panther but it's use in tiger is up in the air according to some people. I did it because the instructions told me to (that was on my laptop, not my p5ld2-vm which I still need help on, haven't rebooted yet!!!) Arcanis
You installed the WHOLE 10.4.7 update from Apple.com? Or just the kexts? If it's just the kexts, on my desktop atleast (ECS 945-G M3 with GMA950), the GMA950 kext didn't work, but it was easily fixable putting the old 10.4.6 kext back. IPFirewall.kext and System.kext needs to be decrypted so put your older kexts there too. The other kexts runs without problem, but that's only my experience so far, it's not recommended to do so. Wait until the brilliant minds arount here can tell you if those kexts are safe to use. If you installed the whole update you're fairly screwed but you can try to replace mach_kernel with a decrypted one and installing JaS 10.4.7 update again with pacifist overwriting everything, then do a prebinding. Edit: Actually you could open both updates (JaS and Apple) with pacifist and compare the files. Install the JaS update and if there are any files remaining in the official Apple which the JaS patch didn't restore, try to copy em from old installation dvd's. Or tell us which files they're so we can see if they're essential for booting sucefully. Greets. PS: Someone know how can I fix the remaining space bug? It's just a cosmetic issue but I would like to fix it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20644-howto-update-to-1047-from-1046-intel-only/page/8/#findComment-139466 Share on other sites
kernalzero
I only installed the JaS.10.4.7.Update(intel) found on the demon nothing from apple. I knew that would destroy the install. does the jas release contain any kexts? if it doesn't, I should still have the 10.4.6 kext installed?!? kernalzero
so all the people complaining of issues with certain boards and the GMA950 were most likely installing the apple 10.4.7 release using pacifist and installing the new 10.4.7 kexts?? {sigh of relief} I'm still going to make backups just incase, thanks arcanis Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20644-howto-update-to-1047-from-1046-intel-only/page/8/#findComment-139533 Share on other sites

Just keep your kexts until some more skilled person can say they're safe to use. For me at least (JUST MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE), I tested all of them, and the only kexts that aren't working on my system are the GMA950 kexts, IPFirewall.kext and System.kext. Greets! appleguru
Anyone know what needs to be done to get the latest build for intel macs? (8J2135a as opposed to 8J2135.. Still 10.4.7) Seems apple forgot a few things related to Open GL.. Anybody know what was missing and the best way to add them? http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/mac...e1047intel.html ^^That updater has the latest build. Praktiker
It worked for me too. (10.4.7 update I mean) I have a Toshiba Tecra S1 notebook with ATI Mobility 9000 grafic card and with Callisto (build 3) installed. Works ok so far. Resolution is 1440x1050 and just occasional some screen glitches. I can live with that. Didn't install any apple kexts though. regards Praktiker. kernalzero
the JaS 10.4.7 update worked on my box (specs in sig), NO 10.4.7 KEXTS INSTALLED!!! I have actually seen a slight drop in my xbench scores on both my systems averaging ~6 points. Has anyone else seen this? wonder if it's related to the second release by apple having to do with opengl?! slipstream
To make the dmg work you should use pacifist and copy the system.kext from the 10.4.6 dvd and paste it into the /System/Library/Extensions... it did work for me... I ( by mistake ) overwrited the system.kext from the 10.4.6 with the system.kext from the apple update... i have had this issue for ages so maybe my 10.4.6 install needs me to do this too.. it wont open any dmg file. so have i got this correct that somewhere on the Jas 10.4.6 DVD (or do i need an original 10.4.6 dvd ?) is a file called system.ktext and it is a simple process of copying it to the /System/Library/Extensions folder ? whats the exact way to do this ? I am pretty new to this.. thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20644-howto-update-to-1047-from-1046-intel-only/page/8/#findComment-142512 Share on other sites

dodo
Has anyone tried installing the NeoPheus (Borisbadenov method) ATI 1600/1800 installer after this update? I need to know their results because my 10.4.6 updated with Jas 10.4.7 went down after running the BorisBadenov X1600/X1800 Full Support Solution pkg and I need help repairing. After the installing/running the boris auto pkg/script it asked for a reboot. While rebooting I saw the grey screen and the loading screen and then the screen went black. I already tried the uninstall method for this pkg but that did not work. I also reverted back to the 10.4.6 kexts which I had backed up before doing any updates. I repaired permisions and the ran a prebind but it still did not help. I think it might have to dowith the framebuffers. So if anyone is /has been in my boat and got around this pleasel et me know how you did it. Thanks in advance. i did that driver update for x1600 pro it was working now after jas 10.4.7 update system stay at the blue screen.
