[GUIDE] Retail Snow Leopard Install on Asus EeePC 1000HE

exactly the right place to ask how to circumvent the security in place. If it were me though I would use a router with tomato or dd-wrt installed, clone your netbook mac address so your schools network 'sees' your netbook then turn off ssid broadcast so the router doesn't actively broadcast a signal but it's there if you know the name.

[GUIDE] Retail Snow Leopard Install on Asus EeePC 1000HE

does anyone else only have left speaker mono output? not sure if it's because i'm running 10.6.3 as opposed to 10.6.2 or if everyone using voodoohda.kext is getting mono sound with really low sound levels... appreciate it

[GUIDE] Retail Snow Leopard Install on Asus EeePC 1000HE

so I'm pretty sure I just wrote I have 10.6.3 installed. I have it installed on an asus eeePC 1000he netbook, this entire topic is about the 1000HE netbook. If you don't install the security update 2010-003 wifi will continue to work. You need to do more reading. Search your netbook at www.Mymacnetbook.com ...

[GUIDE] Retail Snow Leopard Install on Asus EeePC 1000HE

Has anyone had trouble after you update to 10.6.3 then update the Security Update 2010-003 causing you to lose your wifi (stock US)? I updated to 10.6.3 and had everything working, I decided why not update everything... wifi dies with the security update. any ideas or solutions?

    Why Ubuntu

this is a pretty random question. First I would suggest just asking your roommate. He'll probably just tell you. From personal experience the learning curve for linux is fairly steep. It takes a good amount of time using linux to get it to do everything you want. I tried many distro's when I was in college including redhat, suse (which I really enjoyed), ubuntu, MEPIS, DSL, etc. I found going through all of these that ubuntu had alot to offer with only installing the OS. The nice thing about linux though is you can go through however many distro's you want and testdrive them all until you find one for you - their free. www.linuxiso.org just my opinion though, he could be doing if for some other reason...maybe he just gets bored

what config for PowerMac G4 ?

your question makes no sense. You have a mac ... put leopard 10.5.8 on it and move on. you can't make a hackintosh out of your macintosh - you have the real thing.

    Snow and P5LD2-VM

This is something I'm planning on starting to work on. I'm not sure how soon i'll be able to get things moving though because spare time is non-existant right now. As you can tell by my signature below I'm not running a C2D processor or better (board won't work with one) so i'll be doing this differently. Plan: 1) retail install of snow leopard using DSDT, chameleon RC3. we'll see but i think we should try to get a guide going. unfortunately there aren't any generic guides out there everyone is tailoring their guides to their specific board. we'll just have to do the same thing...

    P5LD2-VM motherboard Question

    won't take c2d processors, it's a v1.3 and only v2 will take them. sorry. it's a good board though
  9. my mistake....NOT EFIx.... rEFIt.... anyway, Onetrack, When I installed OSX on this system I built a custom DSDT because I had issues with the originally posted version. I might try to use the guide you put up because i'd rather have a small USB stick that allows for a vanilla system than a patched or old kernel on the EFI partition...i'll let you know when I test it out if I atleast have any luck
  10. so does this EFIx method allow you to install the combo 10.5.7 without disabling HT? and what about using this EFIx key to work with current installs or does it have to be a completely fresh install (original install was retail)?

    10.5.7 has been released

  12. Are you guys updating from retail install with vanilla kernel or other install like ideneb?
  13. has anyone updated using software update to 10.5.7 yet? it was just released today and i built this system for my sister...would like to have an idea if this is gonna crash her 'mini'. i did a retail install only with DSDT for gma950....thanks
  14. I'll see if I can't get it manually then since I'm out of the hospital for a couple days...will probably fail miserably but will give it a shot... will post results
  15. I'm posting the linux codec dump from the D945GCLF2 with ALC662 audio. i havent tested this yet but thought i would share it in case anyone wants to give it a try with taruga's appleHDA patcher. I dont' think this approach has been tried, most people have tried using prebuilt applehda.kexts or 'drivers' from other boards with the same audio set. post results if you beat me to testing it out...
