GREAT NEWS GUYS i tired neo patch in x1400 mobility before by using boris method i was gettin kernel panics but now i didnt now i get a black screen and it says VGA matchin failed on startup! its not really great but one step ahead!!

guys no help for me!! anyone tried this on x1400 and got it to work?

While screwing around with various things, I remembered reading somewhere on the forums here that the setting where you change "ATY,Wormy" is case sensitive. That little piece of info, plus the fact that System Profiler labels my video card as "Display" led me to the solution. I just edited the ATINDRV.kext Info.plist to "Display" instead of "display" (capital "D").

If anyone has any info on how to possibly fix the resolution change issue, please let us know. :)

Also, are there problems with dual core Intel CPUs (I have the Pentium D 930)? The OS in general seems a bit slow and often "stutters".

Not to burst any bubbles, but you effectively disabled ATINDRV when you put a capital D, that is why it boots because you will use the bootup driver, not ATINDRV. I have Pentium D930 also and have no problems at all.

The short guide to how it basically works:

a) ATIRadeonX1000.kext (matching on your card) provides the acceleration (QE etc) driver which is the ATIRadeonX1000GA.plugin (not a matching kext -- loaded by the kext), it also provides the bundle drivers or dvd (video acceleration) and OpenGL.

B) ATINDRV.kext provides a ATI native driver for the framebuffer and hardware accelerated mouse.

c) The framebuffer is created at boot time by the kernel, or by the efi driver on the real macs.

If you have C you will get a VESA driver and a basic framebuffer (no res change and no accel), B gives basically only res change and hw mouse and takes over the bootup framebuffer, and A only will provide only acceleration. All three have to be combined and work.

Any ideas why the 10.4.6 atindrv wont work with the x1800 series?

Well {censored}, I thought I was on to something. I have no idea why this damn thing won't work when it works for others so easily.

:D

I just manually installed all the 10.4.6 ATi kexts. I don't think DVI works. Actually, I'm getting a little bit of artificating when I scroll very fast after installing these kexts.

EDIT: It was actually Mouse Locator that was causing minor tearing. Weird, but everything is working well with the 10.4.6 kexts. Other than DVI not working. <_>

<_<

Yeah is weird. For me worked fine because I researched and bought the card that fits boris's description

Man, i wonder if it was just because of the card they were using?

Sorry but its a bit ;) but i'm looking at a new monitor. I'm looking for around 20 - 23 inches. Seen as i cant get dvi with osx and have to use a dvi to vga converter, this will work with a 23inch monitor wont it? Theres a Hp one that converts vga to dvi at the monitor, will that work? Sorry for being offtopic.

You might have some details mixed up. The whole problem that VGA presents is that it converts a digital signal into an analogue signal so that clunky old CRT monitors, ranging from pratically the 1980s to today, can display an image received from the computer. With every conversion of anything, there is a loss of quality in the process. If a monitor supposedly converted VGA to DVI, it would at best be VGA quality, but most likely it'd be an even worse quality due to a second conversion.

You can turn apples into applesauce to make it simple enough for a baby to eat it, but you can't turn applesauce back into apples.

Back on topic: After repairing permissions on the 10.4.6 kexts, I tried booting up switched to my monitor's DVI mode and I got a brief flash of blue and a glimpse of the login screen before it went black. Since I have both VGA and DVI connections to my monitor and video card simulatenously (which I don't recommend), it might have detected the VGA connection and made it default. I'm going to fiddle around more with different connection configurations and see what happens.

Probally, i was reading up on them at an ungodly hour in the morning :D

But if it didnt detect the VGA, thats progress. Maybe you should try all of th 10.4.7 kexts, see if the atindrv works.

Alright guys, it works great on Asus EAX1600 PRO 512MB. The only problem I think is that it only sees it as if it had 256MB RAM or so it says on the System Profiler...

picture13cb.png

Its a known problem, probally because the imacs and macbook pros only have 256mb

If you have an AGP card, check out thread:

http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=20139

joblo10 has written an AGP bridge called AGPGart.kext that works on some Intel, VIA, ULI and nVidia chipsets. He also has AMD processor versions. It requires the 10.4.3 IOPCIFamily.kext (version 1.7 or 1.8) or kernel panic.

Improvements up to 2X or more are possible! Work is ongoing - testers welcome.

My first post in here =)

And Id like to say thanks for the installer. Worked perfectly. I have an ATI Radeon X1600 Pro with 512 Mb (even if it shows only 256 on the Sys Prof).

Great job. Thanks!

WeRD, you aren't alone... --> http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?s=...st&p=141157

I have the same problem and I can't fix it. I installed NeoPheus' installer (Version: 3.2) for my graphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 512MB Hyper Memory), but still every time when it gets to the login screen, the monitor "shuts off". And I don't know why...

Is this maybe a bug in the installer? But why have this problem only a few person's?

Can anybody help us?

About my Laptop: other infos

Asus Z9202Ja (other name is Asus A6Ja)

Intel Core Duo T2400 @ 1,83 GHz

ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 512MB Hyper Memory

15,4 TFT WXGA 1280x800

OS: WinXP, Ubuntu Linux 6.06, OSx86 10.4.5 (Bootloader: GRUB)

P.S.: Sorry for my english...

Have you tried to boot in -x mode? Then you can delete all the ATI and GeForce kexts - except from the ones for X1000 and ATINDRV! Then reboot your machine!

I also copied the kernel from the install DVD to the right volume and mounted the right volume at the boot screen (F8)

The only 'problem' that I have in OSX86, is the fact that the graphics chip is not recognised as X1600!?

It's not a bug in the installer, because the exact same thing happens when I make the changes manually.

Yes, booting in -x mode produces the same results. I also have already deleted the GeForce and the rest of the ATI kexts (well, I didn't delete them, I moved them to another folder).

Hello there!

I was so happy i got my new Sapphire X1600XT (71c0) so i tried a fresh Goatsx 10.4.6 Install with 3.2 Installer!

IT FAILED!

I just get BLANK SCREEN or whenn i tried DVI Adapter i get a artifacts Desktop where Work is impossible,,,,,

I also tried it manual but then i get RED SCREEN on both outputs.....

PLEASE HELP!!! IM so close to success!!! Everthing else is working ....

Thx in advance

Hey there!

Sorry for the long waiting time!

Why the patch doesn't work with EAX1600XT? What versions did you try, martun?

If you can do a reinstall (or another hdd) then you could try this on a fresh install... but i can't promise anything! :thumbsdown_anim:

So let me know if it works with a fresh install of OS X, plz!

For dash-ripple-effect:

I installed the patch on my computer too and the ripple effect is working fine! (version 3.2)

Hum, very confusing!

cYa!

Some one please could give a help with my ATI x550 ? I need the Ci and Qe working. So, I thought may be making some modifications on Boris metodo I could have the Core Image and Quartz Extreme working.

Vendor Id is 0X1002 and Device is 0x5b63.

THANK`S FOR ANY HELP !!!!

Ps Right now I get the standart resolution 1024 x 768

Yes, booting in -x mode produces the same results. I also have already deleted the GeForce and the rest of the ATI kexts (well, I didn't delete them, I moved them to another folder).

1. Reinstall it, make sure you choose the correct updates (SSE2 or SSE3 and AMD or Intel)

2. Boot from the install DVD and write: cp /mach_kernel /Volumes/name/ in the terminal

3. Use a partition program (Partition Magic, LiveCD, Knoppix ect.) to set your partition to active/boot

4. Boot with F8 and write: mount /Volumes/name -setBoot

Now it should boot into the password screen in OSX86!

5. Delete the ATI and GeForce .kexts, except from the ones for X1000 (and ATINDRV)!

6. Edit the remaining ATI kexts, using the 'Boris Method'

7. Delete the AppleHWSensor

8. Remove the .mkexts and .kextchace

9. Reboot

Now it should boot into OSX86 (password screen) and the resolution ect should work!

10. Install 10.4.7 update

11. Use simpleQuartz to get 2D Quartz Extreme to work (if your gfx card support it!?)

Reboot and you are all set. At least that's what worked for me - and I have had the same problems you had!

Cheers.........
