I dont have an older card... so it doesnt apply to me. Instead of dumping my own rom, I found a site with other dumps. Would really like a dump from imac or macbook pro.

 

The ROM update from ATI looked like it MIGHT have code in it that would reply ATY,*... I'd have to see more to know for sure.

Any x1600 cards do work with this mod?

As I saw, there weren´t any other cards working at all.

 

 

I have still not gotten my Sapphire x1600xt to work--I have tried it with a clean install of Myzar 10.4.5. With a regular login I get a freeze just where the grey apple boot screen switches to the login window (the spinning thing freezes). If I boot with -v I see that it freezes on loginwindowapp.

 

If anyone has any ideas of what I might try, I'd sure love it. I can't understand: I'm running both hardware and OS version that others have reported working.

If you look back a page or to in this topic youll see my posts on this subject m8 im running jas 10.4.6 and my ati x1600xt works perfect so i f you lik ill mail ya my kexts

Anyone know if the Sapphire Radeon RX1600 PRO 512MB DDR-II PCIe is fully supported? I am thinking of buying that card. If not I'll go for the 256MB MSI version.

 

yes Menno- someone, can't remember who, has it and got it to work... A little bit of searching will give you all the answers you'll need.

So x1600 XL and PRO are confirmed to work, any other models? Are all them PCi-e?

 

- GeCube Radeon X1600Pro 256Mb PCIe - OS 10.4.5 - Works well, no DVI-Out (at least for me)

 

- Sapphire Radeon X1600XT 256Mb PCIe - OS 10.4.5 and 10.4.5 + kext's and OpenGL.frameworks from 10.4.6 - Works well, no DVI-Out for me but some success posts on that... Still waitting for any kind of help.

Check the aforementioned corrections to your kexts- also did you copy over OpenGL kext from 10.4.6 intel update?

Hi Nuno Maia

 

When im plugged into vga look at screeny on previous page but when im plugged into dvi with supplied adapter it only says vga output but works 100% , im running a complete fresh install of jas 10.4.6 no kexts or stuff from 10.4.5 or any other 10 .x.x just what come with 10.4.6 maybe u wanna try a fresh 10.4.6 install

Sounds like you had a different problem than I am having, so I'm not sure that would help. Also, it looks like several other have the exact same OS version and hardware and have it working. Very strange.

Thats the funny thing m8 i never had any probs to start with i just installerd 10.4.6 edited the kexts and it just worked perfect so i dunno

Thanks, I read only 256MB is reconized and since it is for a mac os x only box. I go for the MSI RX1600Pro-TD256E. Which is known to work ;).

You bet-

 

256MB is quite sufficient- It'll run your QE/CI/QE2D without any problems and I have not had or noticed a single mouse/page tearing issue.

 

I am glad I bought this card as I would rather spend the extra bucks on a 24" LCD- which is on my list of items to purchase.

1st thanks for the help.

 

For the Kext's:

I´ve tried with all of that, but the last time didn't changed the ATIRadeonX1000GA.kext, didn't seemed to make any diference, but ill try that again when I get home.

 

As for the OpenGL:

what I did was download the update, used pacifist and extracted all the ATI*.kext's from and to /System/Library/Extensions and then used Boris "solution";

And extracted the OpenGL.framework from and to /System/Library/Frameworks (im typping from memory)

 

Was that the propper way? did I missed some Kext's or somthing?

 

Im using Myzar's 10.4.5 by the way.

I dont have problem using DVI if I use the DVI2VGA adapter, what im missing is native DVI.

 

I bought the Sapphire because of sucessfull posts on that matter, I had a Pro version with 2 DVI connectors but could only use with DVI2VGA...

 

hope you understand my point.

TeKKi, I got the same problem as you have (black screen with mouse cursor). I installed using JAS 10.4.6 and selected the GMA900 option. Doing that installs the 10.4.5 OpenGL framework and it won't work with the X1000 drivers from 10.4.6. I used pascifist to install the opengl framework from the 10.4.6 update file on the DVD.

After doing that (and previously followed boris instructions for patching the driver files) it started to work for me.

 

Have been running in 1920x1200 since then (DVI) :-)

 

 

That's the reason why I updated the OpenGL.framework (I set it to bold)

 

Im going to buy a new hard drive and Ill make a clean install of Jas 10.4.6 and then Ill let u guys know.

Hi Guys,

 

Some great work going on here!

 

Has anyone managed to get the Mobility x1600 to allow resolution changes yet? I'm running OS X on an Asus A6JA Laptop, everything is working graphics wise, but I'm stuck at 1024x768 I'm trying to get the native resolution of the laptop LCD 1280x800
