jackt283
I have replaced the Graphics Mode lines in my Boot.plist - and ofcourse the machine boots into 1600x1200, but it still changes to 640x480 when it switches to the "Loading Mac OS X" screen, then back to 1600x1200 when it automatically logs me in. I checked the prefs in /Library, everything in there is set as 1600 or 1200. So maybe the ATNDRV is taking over when it gets to the "Starting OS X" screen and that's why it sets it at such a bodgy res, then it changes back once it reads my user preferences. Are other people having this problem? Is it even a problem? ezilagel
This needs to be organized!! I have tried the 1st page method with no luck.. I simply have no time to read through 30+ pages of threads. I try and try, but i can't do it lol. I have... ATI Radeon x1600 PRO 945GTP motherboard 930D Pentium Fresh install of Jas 10.4.6 I boot with a black screen and mouse. If there is a for sure fix for the x1600 which is what seems to be the easiest to get working, we need to break this up into seperate models and not have this big mess. With fresh install of 10.4.6 and your hardware, there should be no issues at all. Just follow the instructions on the first 3 pages, that's all you need to know. What is your device id? What files did you modify? Anyway, I just picked up ASUS x1600XT silent one, changed my device ID to 71c0, put back 10.4.6 ATINDRV, and it works perfectly fine it seems from DVI and monitor goes to sleep! I'm a happy camper and that much difference was worth the extra $60 from my troubled Pro card. So far, there are two x1600 series with perfectly working dvi output First one is Boris's MSI x1600pro and the other is your new Asus x1600xt. By the way, is your new card capable of 2560x1600 resolution? I know your LCD is Dell 24" so it can only go up as high as 1920x1200 but, I am just curious Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17767-borisbadenov-ati-x1000-series-solution/page/27/#findComment-122868 Share on other sites

cardinal
Oh... and for the first time I can wake up from sleep. Only by pressing power button, keyboard or mouse only wake me up half-way, but still... it at least kind of works. I have to try to switch those jumpers on motherboard for +5v to usb port or whatever it is. RobNyc
I was wondering how can I have my video card name being showed how Jas did, he edited something and it shows Radeon X1600 PRO now.. btw. THe X1600 PRO 512mb users, have you gotten or are able to see 512mb NVRam instead of 256mb ? hanschien
RobNyc, 512mb is next on my list; after DVI and sleep/resume. But my theory is ATIRadeonX1000.kext and/or ATINDRV.kext does not support 512mb because it is not an option for the Intel iMac and Macbook Pro. Sorry, I meant to say I can't test it, as I have no Windows or 30" monitor. On the box it only says 2048x1536. Come to think of it, there is no way that you could use this for 30", since both apple and dell require 2 x DVI-D inputs, and this card has one DVI and one VGA outputs. In respect to sleep, you are telling us cardinal that you can make your computer go to sleep completly? regards Aberracus My computer is almost inaudible... Ninja cooler, slow moving 120mm fans in case/PS, and even before this card, the x1600pro i was using was equipped with the zalman vga heatpipe cooler thing. However, zalman thing weights a ton, and I feel better not using it. As for sleep, my computer was always willing to go to S3 sleep. I was never able to force it to go to S1 sleep, but I want S3 anyway. Until I put this card, I was never - not once - able to wake it up. Fans would come on, keyboard/mouse would light up, but monitor would keep sleeping. If you look at ATINDRV with disassembler, all those routines I mentioned that call something that seems to have to do with clock settings, are called from a routine that has power in it's name, so it is not unreasonable to think that different video card would make a difference when changing power states. It still doesn't work 100%... most of the time when I wake computer up by power button it somes back, a few times it didn't. It never comes back if I wake it up by mouse or keyboard - screen remains dead, and sometimes mouse too. I don't care if I can't wake it up by keyboard/mouse, I'll just turn that feature off on the motherboard with jumpers. But, I'll try to figure out if I can consistently wake it up by power button. Maybe it is affected by being overclocked right now. munky
cardinal - can you post your exact install routine? ie was it a clean JaS 10.4.6, or an upgraded 10.4.4/5? my machine will sleep (s3) and will seem to 'almost' wake (ie power returns, fans spin up etc, but screen remains dead, and machine is not responsive to network). i think i've been trying with space bar or mouse button - will do a bit more testing with just using the power button, but im pretty sure i tried that and it was the same. fwiw, my machine is an Intel D945GTPLR board with a Pentium D 920 and a GeCube X1800XL PCI-E. My install routine was Myzar 10.4.5 disc, then Quixos manual 10.4.6 and SecUpd003, followed by Semjaza Finder update. netmagic
excuse my english. anyone tried change device id in ATIRadeonX1000 file? It has hardcoded binary 3d c0 71 (x1600xt device id) like koverg's x700 patch. I think it is why x1600pro can't use ATINDRV 10.4.6 and 100% compatible card is only x1600xt. I tried but kernel panic. (x1900gt). Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17767-borisbadenov-ati-x1000-series-solution/page/27/#findComment-122984 Share on other sites
cyclonefr
hum no i dont think so...that's not a bad idea...i hope koverg can patch them so... btw someone succeed in sleep mode? the only thing i had was in S1mode i could resume the monitor sleep then i can only move the mouse cursor the GUI is entirely frozen...Anyway ACPI is not the most usefull on desktop pc Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/17767-borisbadenov-ati-x1000-series-solution/page/27/#findComment-122991 Share on other sites

cyclonefr
so im maybe experiencing the same thing...when i power it up via mouse, the screen shows up but only mouse cursor, the GUI is frozen.
