Hey Superhai, What brand/device ID is your X1800GTO. I have a Connect3D model with device ID 0x710a1002 which I flashed to a 0x71091002 X1800XL which is the same ID as Munky's. I mentioned that mine lets me have full control of the system, with no display though.

Mine is Powercolor with 710a1002. Dual DVI outputs, but I have only VGA devices (LCD panel with VGA in and a VGA projector). I only get picture if I use both outputs, if I remove one it refuses to display a picture. The m/b is ASUS P5LD2 Deluxe (i945). It has two PEG slots but I am not sure if it is capable of crossfire.

Thanks for the excellent summary, and I have a couple of corrections:

DVI works on ASUS x1600XT Silent. I think that is the only card known to work.

Many people are getting artifacts (looks like overclock artifacts) when using 10.4.6 ATINDRV with x1600Pro. They should switch to 10.4.5. All x1600XT cards tested so far work with no artifacts with 10.4.6.

Thanks I will update the post.

Please reply me!

Excuse me but i'm newbie! I have a ATI Radeon Sapphire X1600PRO PCI-e 512MB .

I have tried the guide to page 1 but after reboot red lines are looked at alone. What could be?

In -x mode monitor have all refresh but red line in desktop and the Graphics card not found.

devo usare nano x editare i plist?

io uso text edit ma nn funziona, schermata blu prima dell'avvio e neanche in -x il sistema si avvia....

poi se metto risoluzioni in boot.plist nn si avvia ma compaiono una serie di scritte stile windows 98...

Guys lets try to keep this thread in english, there are topics for italian in these forums.

Superhal, that was a very nice job, im happy i was lucky to buy the ASUS video card.

Has anybody test Superhal's idea to get two monitors running?

Superhal you say you need to have both of your screens connect for your system to work under 10.4.5, do they work simultaneosuly?

I made another discovery, I am not sure if anyone else seen this but if you run OpenGL Extension Viewer. And under extensions it will (on my card at least) read Renderer: ATI Radeon X1800 OpenGL Engine. And I searched for that text in the ATIRadeonX1000GLDriver.bundle, and it also have reference to X1600 and R300.

Anyway something else, I think the DVI issue is outside of card and ATI'kexts control. Can everyone post the result of

ioreg -l |grep DisplayVendorID

and

ioreg -l |grep DisplayProductID

Mine = (1970170734)(1815) I am sure most will get like mine. But there are files which controls the display and I think there are matches there for those of you with working DVI.

And finally another thing, are there anyone who is able to get the ATIX1000 driver to work when you include the secondary pci ID? Because if you are then dual display for you is just a small step away!

I have a 1600 pro card, my vendor and product id's are the same as the ones you posted.

the kexts dont resolve my second card, but that's not super surprising, since one of the underlying kexts keys off of type 300... secondary is 310, I think.

ok mine "DisplayVendorID" = 19929

"DisplayProductID" = 11632

i can test trying to put my second id in atix1000 driver but i dont know exactly how to do it, if you help me ...

cheers

BTW. My system starts a little slow i have removed applehwsensor

i have found this on this forum, do you think is safe to apply? i dunno what this could do to my perfectly working OSX..

<QUOTE>

HEY I GOT IT!

This one worked for me:

1. delete /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHWSensor.kext

2. delete /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext

3. goto terminal an type:

sudo -s

kextcache -e -z -a i386

kextcache -a i386 -z -k /System/Library/Extensions

Now OS 10.4.6 with sec 03.2006 boots up in less than 15 seconds

good luck

I think DVI works correctly when the EDID from the monitor is read properly. But for those who don't get a proper reading have to create override files. My ID's are just the one for analog VGA without readings.

Secondary ID is added just next to where you had your primary id. Under IOPCIMatch.

<string>0xXXXXXXXX 0xXXXXXXXX</string>

Good idea ! But where I have to correct die EDID file ?

How would we go about creating an EDID override file? Mine needed the EDID info put in when I was using Callisto, so I probably need it now too.

Thanks.

It seems that most people with the x1800s don't display anything or crash using 10.4.6 (right?). I can confirm my Sapphire x1800XL is working with the JaS 10.4.6 installation DVD using one of the two DVI outs though I am getting artifacts. This is with a fresh install and GMA900 NOT selected (though I do have GMA900 onboard).

Now working on solving the artifact problem...

Hey ppl. I just wondered if you could post an update for people viewing this thread for the first time. Its very time consuming reading through 43 pages!! I'm wondering if any x1800 card is supported? Also what is the best x1600 card supported?

I've read most of this thread through and through and as far as I can tell my situation is unique (but good!) so I'm hoping you guys in the know can give me your two cents.

As I mentioned above I'm using an Sapphire x1800XL card with a DVI out to my LCD. Install was a fresh JaS 10.4.6 with GMA900 unselected even though I have GMA900 onboard.

Take a look at my system profiler below:

post-32031-1149794001_thumb.png

It says that QE and CI are supported. Can this be right? Before you guys applied the Boris method weren't you getting QE and CI as unsupported?

Boris' 1st post included a screenshot which I'm assuming proved that CI and QE were working based on the widget ripples (right?). Anyway, here's mine:

post-32031-1149794014_thumb.png

As you'll see from the 1st picture my resolution is limited to 1024x768 and I am getting some artifacts/mouse tearing.

Can anybody shed some light on my system? Are my CI and QE really working? If so, is it really unique to have CI and QE working without having to do anything? Any suggestions on which steps to take 1st to get full resolution selection and eliminate artifacts?

Thanks!
