Build 003 seems to work well with the x300M in my Inspiron 6000. Finally running native (1680x1050). The first couple of res changed caused some screen craziness, but works fine now. Real cool :thumbsdown_anim:

Now if only I could get QE/CI working...

FWIW, I've been getting an error in my dmesg output with this and the previous builds:

"Couldn't alloc class "CallistoFB""

Can anybody else see this in their dmesg? I can't help but wonder if this has something to do with my QE/CI troubles.

For everybody seeing two screens or scrambling, just opening System Preferences and switch through different resolutions until it clears up. Then, choose your desired resolution.

If the scrambling is too bad to navigate, just reboot. It might take two or three tries. The driver works perfectly 1/3 times for me without having to adjust anything at boot. The other 2/3 times, I just do a little res changing in the system prefs.

I'm so used to seeing a 1280x1024 stretched on my 1680x1050-optimal monitor. I agree, my eyes are fooled so that everything now looks stretched vertically. :thumbsdown_anim:

Doesn't work for me (Radeon 9700 Mobility 4e50). Flatpanel detected as non-DDC Laptop Panel, no resolution above or below 1024x768.

I wonder what these EDID Codes in Callisto.kext's Plist do.

Anyway, thak you for your hard work Omni!

cyclonefr: no, i mean a blue screen which goes all spazzy. the machine wont respond to network (ping, ssh etc) or any keyboard/mouse commands - ie its utterly dead. omni said its a hard crash to do with the way the driver was accessing the ati registers. im hoping 003 will fix it but wont get a chance to test until tonight.

was hoping someone with a similar setup might get a chance to test before me... :thumbsdown_anim:

I don't know if the driver will handle this one day, but does anybody notice that when looking at gradients in Photoshop very close up, it sort of uses color-grouping? In Windows, it looks smooth. In OS X, it looks like 5 globs of color.

I've noticed this even on Macs in the Apple store. When they played Finding Nemo, the water didn't look smooth. It looked like color-grouping.

Again, not sure if this is supposed to be handled by a driver or if it's just Apple's way of doing things.

It works on my 9000 (4c66) 1400x1050 now, but (!) when I use MPlayer fullscreen (it switches res to something else) then back to standart - garbage on my screen. A few switches to fullscreen then back get my screen to normal, but as you see - still not stable. And another bad news for ati users - I think it does not work with RadeonTool, or may be something else, but screen won't turn off when I close my laptop's screen any more :thumbsdown_anim:

ok, it's me again. i just "reinstalled" b003 and did the following:

-deleted SwitchResX

-deleted windowserver-stuff from Preferences & ByHost

Now it works like a charm. Lets hope for omni's own implementation, since GA.plugin won't work with AppleI386PCI.kext (AGP) and has a lot of tearing even with MouseLocator or Expose in 1400x1050 and a bit less but still some in other resolutions.

Of course, you have to delete switchresX, possible windowserver settings and remove the "Graphics Mode" line in the com.apple.boot.plist if you changed it previously. If you do a clean install of your system everything should be ok. Most of the troubles ppl are going through are due to previous tweaks.

Anything that "disturbs" Callisto will result in improper monitor detection.

Version 3 didnt work for me , i had this f***ing OUT OF SYNCH problem with a black screen that i didnt experienced before...

For guys having the screen in 2 parts and then it's ok swithching back to resolution can u tell me if the screen scrambles back when u launch an app that is switching resolution, like games etc just to know if it's worth the try as im running 1280 and have no problem so even changing my monitor won't be usefull

Same problem here with an 9550 AGP. Any resolution besides the default gives me an out of sync error. I get this error even if I only change from 60 to 75 mhz with the default resolution. Even the native resolution for my monitor 1280x1024 gives me an out of synch problem. :D

Thanks to omni for his efforts, though!!

if omni ever read this post i suggest him to work on the pre release driver's code, cause it seems (from what JAS said) that with the prerelease it works at every reboot and don't work 1/4 time. In my case it doesnt work at all so... :D good luck omni

Same problem for me, the problem was also on the 001 and not on the 002. When I change the resolution I'm out of sync.

... May be the problem comes from I use DVI/VGA to connect my LCD. And also that my ATI FIRE GL has two DVI out and no VGA.

I will try on an fresh install soon.

b003 works flawlessly on my dell inspiron 6000 with x300 mobility upt to 1680x1050. (10.4.4 native)

3 cheers for omni ! :)

Hey Matjans, I have the same notebook specs as you, I 'm running 10.4.5 native, and all is working (1680x1050@60) except QE/CI. Is your CE/QI working? If so, did you do anything to enable it?

Oh. My. GOODNESS. Build 003 worked out beautifully for my Xpress 200M. It took a few res changes to get the picture to stabilize at 1280x800, but it did, and now I'm so incredibly happy. :) All I have to do is finish up working on the SB400 sound driver and everything (except QE/CI, but that's never going to work so I gave up on it) works!

Success!!!!!

On HP X1000 laptop with 10.4.3 on ATI 9200 mobility 32 MB ram, with 15''4 LCD display...

Now running in optimal 1280x800 resolution thanks to build 3 of Calisto......

Some little issues after 'Restart' ....but fine after complete 'Shut Down'

Thank you Omni,

You're the man...

Wow!!!! On the day of the MacBook release!!!!

Now I don't need one....because I can use this PC with

OS X on it all the time now.....

Merci Beaucoup

Build 003 working on a Dell Inspiron 6000 w/ WXGA (1280x800) running a Radeon Mobility X300 (128MB). Unfortunately, once I reboot, I have one of the the same problems I did with Build 001, the screen becomes impossible to use---similar look to if you tried to use an old CRT at too high of a resolution. To remedy this, I found that if I switch to 1024x768 before I reboot, it will up with a cloned OSX desktop on either side of my screen and from there I can see the screen well enough to successfully switch back to 1280x800. Awesome work Omni!

Anyone have QE/CI working for this card?

you might be onto something about the fine after shutdown, but has quirks on reboot.
