News from Omni.. Looks like he is not going to release stage 3 of the alpha driver... But let see what happens in the next days..

It has been pointed out to me that the Monitor Asset Manager is easier to use and provides the same information needed for Callisto. That information is the Raw EDID base (the HEX values of the EDID, WITHOUT the line numbers 00:, 10:, 20: etc). Thus get this one instead, if you have Windows installed...

 

In other news, I am trying to get I2C working so the above or below solutions would not be needed at all. We'll see what happens in the next few days, for now I am keeping b003 on hold...

Ok so first we needed EDID-DOS. Now he says we need Monitor Asset Manager. Then he says "eh you know what. forget the last two ideas." Ughhhh

 

If the 003 alpha driver will work using Monitor Asset Manager, why not just release it now for those of us who know what we're doing. Then include the I2c stuff in 004 alpha. One step at a time! It's not like whatever he releases will be finalized. He can always add new ideas as they come to him. But pulling an alpha driver at the last minute just because he had a new idea... that's really dumb. Like I said, release it now, and just include any new ideas in the NEXT release.

 

Unless he wasn't able to get the driver to work with even EDID-DOS as easily as he thought. Then I could see how that's a roadbump.

I see your point, but if he releases the 003 alot of people could have problems with editing the driver to there monitor.. so if he can avoid that problem by working on the driver a couple of days I think that is the right thing to do..

 

Omni should take his time and only release an update when he thinks it is necessary...

for me, honestly, it would be better to wait for 004.

there's no selectable option in moninfo. I tried to change my default monitor to plug-and-play in advanced display settings, but i couldn't find where to. ( in the monitor section of display settings, changing selection didn't make any difference).

 

please let me know if you know how to choose the right monitor.

omni is in the US timezone.

Takuro i do agree with u , the point is what can we do? we cant blame anyone, omni from the beginning is the most meticular guy ive never met;let' s hope we won't have to wait till the weekend to get a NON working version one more time (breaking the LCD code).

in the moninfo there is a box at top of it

mine is in chinese , shows what means default monitor

and the info below is the same to U

 

so click on the box i mentioned above , U know what to do next.

Please dont turn this discussion into something bad. I am happy with anything he releases to us. Atleast he is working on it and updating us on his progress. I would not want to recieve a driver that he doesnt think will work and if he releases a driver that is broke go back to the old driver for a bit. He is doing a really great job. I give him a Big thumbs up. :)

umm...tecdycq, thanks for your instruction.

but unfortunately, mine is not possible to select another option.

the dropdown listbox on top of moninfo is just disabled.

 

what should i do now? btw, do u have lcd to? i mean notebook.

mine is also a laptop... also 9700mobility (made by BENQ)

but the moninfo detects 2 monitors, one is the LCD, and another is the crt connector(sorry for bad english)

the information of CRT connector is the same to U , i think its useless.

 

i dont know why it cant find your LCD,there must be something abnormal.

 

have a try on your driver setup (dual display or something similar) or reinstall another driver,mine is official.

I am using callisto driver, thats ok with resolution , 1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz!!!

but i lost QE/CI :gun:

Are you sure you've looked in the faq on omni:s page?

Check out number 11 in the faq. And if you're lucky, you'll get working QE/CI with artifacts by doing the needed changes.

That means you didn't look hard enough. You are suppose to modify something in the ATIRadeon9700GA.plugin file. Take another look.

Hm, MonInfo returns no usable information about my monitor, either. No EDID. Nothing.

(Using a HP Pavilion zd8115ea notebook with Mobility Radeon X300 (ID: 5460))

Powerstrip shows the EDID revision as being 1.3 but can't poll the display. When I go into PS' advanced resolution config, I can see all the timings for all resolutions - I think this might actually be the interesting part, no?

I tried callisto and I found some problem

 

this problem occurs occasionally

that is when I load the mac osx , i use 1024x768

then when the driver change the resolution to 1280x1024 , the screen has many strips , but the LCD mon shows that the resolution is ok , the reflesh rate also 60 HZ

 

finally I uninstalled it for unstable reason
