ufulu
Thanks for this tut! Worked like a charm. I can control Front row via my internal Keyboard or what is more efficient using my nokia 6230i in combination with salling clicker 3.1 One question though: Is it possible to get Front Row displayed on my TV while i can still see the desktop on my internal display and keep working? looper
One question though: Is it possible to get Front Row displayed on my TV while i can still see the desktop on my internal display and keep working? I was looking around on the Apple forums and apparently this isn't possible right now with frontrow even on a regular Mac, but might be implemented in Leopard. You might want to look around the forums yourself for new info on this as this was a while ago that I checked. cheers
moarfish
I've tried the frontrowpass.kext for two computers with USB logitech mouse. It's not working. However, when I plug in the Apple Mightly mouse, it works. Is it the problem with the Logitech Control Centre? I found that the two computers that doesn't work have Logitech Control Centre installed. Takuro
On some of the latest Jas 10.4.8 installer DVDs, FrontRow packages and all other "bundled software" were completely removed (for space issues I guess.) Could somebody post the original FrontRow.pkg? I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

miguelcerca
doesn't work any longer with my 10.4.8 install. maybe it has something to do with the fact that these libraries don't exsist? <key>OSBundleLibraries</key> <dict> <key>com.apple.iokit.IOHIDFamily</key> <string>1.2</string> <key>com.apple.iokit.IOHIDSystem</key> <string>1.0</string> <key>com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily</key> <string>1.8.4</string> <key>com.apple.iokit.IOUSBHIDDriver</key> <string>1.9</string> <key>com.apple.kernel.libkern</key> <string>6.0</string> </dict> in system profiler under extensions-frontrowpass.kext it says these dependencies are not found do we need to change this in order to get it working in 10.4.8? d4d4
Hi, Do anybody know where i can use front row 1.3 at my mac os x 10.4.8 (JaS/Semthex) without any HID-Device? Thank you very much. Best reguards, d4d4
w.jeffrey
I just tried this method on my 10.4.6 JaS build. What do you need? - Hackintosh with 10.4.4 or 10.4.5 - Installed FrontRow. You can find it at Mac OS X Install Disk 1 > System > Installation > Packages > .packages > FrontRow.pkg. You can install it with Pacifist (it is free http://www.charlessoft.com/ ) without any installer checks. Use "Finder > Go To Folder" to open hidden folder (.packages). - any USB mouse (!) - FrontRowPass driver (it is absolutely legal simple mouse HID driver with sweet candy). You can download it at http://www.yuriev.info/FrontRowPass.kext.zip How to ...? 1. Open System Profiler and and check your USB Mouse ProductID and VendorID (Hardware > USB). 2. Convert ProductID and VendorID to Decimal (Calculator > View > Programmer). 3. Open FrontRowPass.kext > Contents > Info.plist. And change idProduct and idVendor (decimal value). 4. Copy FrontRowPass.kext to /System/Library/Extensions 5. In Terminal sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/FrontRowPass.kext 6. Test it with sudo kextload -v System/Library/Extensions/FrontRowPass.kext 6. Remove Extensions.kextcach and Extensions.mkext in /System/Library. 7. Reboot. 8. Hooah, comrades! Native FrontRow on your Hackintosh . After everything and rebooting, Front Row doesn't work. When I press cmd+esc nothing happens. I checked system preferences, Front Row wasn't even listed in apps to add keyboard shortcuts to. Any help would be appreciated. Also, is there a way I can undo what I've done to try this all over again? Edited January 10, 2007 by w.jeffrey
