This time I installed DP4 over DP3. It took 30 minutes. After that, it booted fine. Nothing was upset, all user's settings were preserved. Nice!

I am going to try to do the same on a 10.6.8 partition to see.

The funny thing is that Chameleon booted DP4 install from a USB stick OK. I don't recall Chameleon was able to do that the last time. Anyway, this is so far the easiest update. I hope the Lion release would stay the course.

Yep, i think also that the final Lion will work for those , getting run it with DP3/DP4.

But the users with problematic HW, like some GPUs will not getting better support, like Fermi GTX or some ATI 6xxx until Apple uses same GPUs in their macs.

me too !! i think this is because of the latest version of chameleon , r994 !!! before installing this version, no problem !!! ;)

Yep, yuor are right. Has nothing to do with LION, ist cameleon 994+.

They set some DEBUG_ACPI =1 flag which causes that "ACPI 2 not found - ignoded" + "Press a key to continue... (DEBUG_ACPI)" messages.

Since 998 ist should be gone:

998: Clean and disable DEBUG's. Clean white spaces i missed earlier on BootHelp.txt.

Hello everyone,

I have a D630 with intel X3100 graphics. I use this method to prepare a bootable Chameleon flash drive with Lion DP4. Flash drive boots successfully. I choose my Destination Partition for Lion and then when the install process begins the installation just freezes! I cannot move my mouse or anything... and this is as far as I get.... Can you help or just share your method of installing DP4 on your computer? Thanks in advance!

RTC: Only single RAM bank (128 bytes),why ?

Thanks.

The RTC is only a single ram bank of 128 bytes (don't need more than that for a clock). For your other issues, is DP4 booting into the GUI or no? I don't see a KP or anything suggesting that your not booting...

Hmmm, anything they didn´t drop? DP4 installs and runs withou an ease, but no network at all :/ I´m running out of network cards: 2* Marvel onboard, 3 3COM 90x, and 2 Realtek do not work ... damnit i need a datasheet of that board ...

Currently testing on: P5K deluxe, C2D 2,4 GHz, 4GB DDR2, Geforce 7600GS 512MB -> only 32 bit due to graphics card

Try this (Realtek Ethernet). Install using Kext Wizard. Should work without reboot, kextload is enough.

*omg* Hit me harder!!! Downloads into RAMdisk are NOT reboot persistent ...... :)

Works, thanks :)

So from what I am reading Dp4 requires fresh install? and it will not show up in software update?

Yes, it will not be in software update BUT you can use the dmg to update your DP3 - that's what I did.

I wonder if I can update the DP to final or GM the same way...?

on a mbp, upgrading DP3 to DP4 is possible. after dp4 restarts, it would continue the install process until it finishes (about 40min).

that should also be the case with d3 on a hackintosh with a little modification. with my case, after dp4 install reboots, it never starts the installation. the boot process just continues to the desktop.

anyway, no point in forcing the issue since the GM will be downloadable in a few weeks. then we can start hacking lion again.

i'm getting this message in kernel.log on DP4

kernel[0]: ACPI_SMC_CtrlLoop::loadStepperContext - pmCPUControl (pmioctlPStateContext_t) failed, result = 0x16

i dont see that message on SL with same setup and same dsdt..

what is that message mean?

thanx

I´d guess speedstepping isn´t loaded correctly, don´t have proper DP4 installation yet, just on a test system without proper dsdt ... will try on weekend what happens on my rig.

Hi og phantom,

Yes ,I can boot on DP4 but since the lion DP2 sleep don't work for me same with dsdt.aml of snow.

And now on DP4 I have a clear cmos every time I click on sleep systèm,everything is suddenly wakes but the screen stays black,impossible to wake up the screen.

I read that the problem was that kext (AppleRTC.kext).

Reading this post may help. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=253992

Allows you to set the RTC register length to 0x04 in dsdt, which removes the single bank remark.

@rayap

I read this topic but I do not see or make changes.

Can you give me the change for me ? Or post the dsdt part of a change ;

I have my dvd player who wakes up every 5 minutes.

Thanks.

Post #115 by blackosx in that topic provides the perl patch for AppleRTC.kext and works fine in DP4. As for the dsdt patch use Auto-Patcher, before you change the reg length.

EDIT: no problems with Sleeps & Wakes including Auto-Sleep in my setup.

Here is what I did:

1. Mount Mac OS X Lion DP4.dmg, which will show up as OS X Install ESD on your desktop.

2. Make hidden files visible and you will find BaseSystem

3. Restore this BaseSystem to a empty partition/usb drive or whatever.

4. Mount that restored partition/usb drive and go to /system/installation/packages, and remove the alias

5. From that OS X Install ESD image you mounted on your desktop, copy the whole Packages folder to /system/installation/

6. Replace the OSInstall.mpkg with the "edited" one to bypass the installation check.

7. Copy mach_kernel from OS X Install ESD to the root of restored BaseSystem partition

8. Reboot, f8 to Chameleon gui selection and there you have it, BaseSystem volume.

9. Just select your volume with dp3 installed to install dp4. It will be upgraded to 11a480b nice and easy :(
