Today, some folks over at TUAW have released some files about how to get Leopard's Dock a little less ugly. They released files that can bring back the old black indicator triangles that were once there in Tiger. They have also figured out how to change the Color of the Dock backround. It's really not that complicated, but it involves changing some files around.

I think you Mac people like what you like and thats it, they look like round glowing lights on the dock. You've had them arrows on the dock for what seven years now, it's about time some new came along and this looks good.

Then you dont know what looking good looks like, watch for the copiers and besides the new dock has a nice 3D modern look.

I like the glowing bubbles on the 2D dock as well, it looks nice, plus, if you make your own custom indicators, it will look just as cool. I would actually like a set of black glowing indicator bubbles. :(

Is there any Leopard substitute for ClearDock? I want to get rid of the background altogether, but ClearDck doesn't work in Leopard.

1. peoples, no arguing.

2. i love absolutely everything about leopard. back in tiger days, i had a registered version of shapeshifter and would alter every bit of it. now that i've got leopard, i don't feel like changing anything. everything looks simply beautiful and perfect.

i think leopard is fantastic... cos there are possibilities for us to modify the overall look and feel of leopard without going thru 3rd party apps...

I have a clear dock right now, and think it's awesome. I manually copied all the bottom dock files, ereased what was in the image files, and used terminal to put them back into the dock.app. The result is really nice....

ayanami, the simplest way to achieve clear dock is to backup the existing scurve files and the frontline file (by renaming them) and then simply deleting them... no need for photoshop work etc... jus backup and delete....

You can type a few things into terminal and it will do this... :)

I don't care about the look. Just bring back the functionality and efficiency.

1. Ability to see hierarchy with one click and no open windows:

2. Ability to see Custom Icons, instead of All Default Blue Folders:

Now why didn't I think of that? =p

Thanks for the heads up. Whenever I decide to move to the GM, if I don't use the 2D dock, I'll remember that.

Tuqqer, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Although the icon's reflections look great with a clear dock and a dark background.

If anyone wants the 3D Dock on the Side in the GM you can just replace the Package Contents with the Dock Contents from 9a559. It works.

Ive never posted here, but I was looking around the net at dock mods and came across your post. Im not a big pirate fan, but thought the map and Xs would be cool so I went ahead and made one up.

If anyone wants the files, I can zip it up and upload to mediashare.
