I'm sorry guys, this took me by surprise too

I'll try fix the configuration today, but I can't get to the theme until some server changes are made

Thanks Poco,

Just out of curiosity is there any way to change the like (reacting) limits as well?

This is not a matter of patience we are simply trying to report back our experiences and feedbacks with the new site and its features and the features that we miss from the previous site. I guess this is going to be helpful and it will definitely will make this great forum better.

P.S:

from all the great feature that we lost we still have the GREAT like (recently named reaction) limits!!! (How Wonderful) %$#&&:hysterical:

Yes I know but, i just said what really Poco said here:

Hi all,

Our forum software was getting quite old, and desperately needed an update to keep functioning. I am very aware that the current design and setup needs serious improvement, but it was performed without notice by the site owners so we didn't have time to prepare like usual.

I hope over the next week we will be able to make some large improvements, so please bear with us while we fix everything up :)

Poco

And, this is only what i meant by patience, because i know that this forum for an update, it need a hard work because of many years of story :wink_anim:

I used to be a web developer and I know how hard it is to run an update on a website with over a million users, there are so many things that can go wrong and as Murphy's law says: "Whatever can go wrong will go wrong." and that's beside the fact that change will always have resistance.

What I'm trying to say is that people are just saying what they think, they don't mean to offend anyone not specially our steamed support staff, we all know how much they give to this site and how hard they work to keep things up and tidy. They are the backbone of our community. Big thanks to all of them!

There is nothing personal about the comments they leave (at least that's what I think) but none the less maybe we should have been more patient to see how things go over the time.

Hey @Poco,

Thanks for showing up and making sure stuff gets fixed. I've noticed already a lot of things have been fixed since earlier. I'm still having trouble with layout and size/colors though. And I know you are probably sick of hearing it but I think everyone wants HTTPS support.

Thanks!

EDIT: Didn't realize I had to directly click on the name after the @, lol.

EDIT2: Oh also, the last logged in time is not changing to unknown or whatever when logging in anonymously.

EDIT3: Just realized that the list of users viewing the forum/topic is gone. And the "this topic is locked" message and previous and next topic links might be good to have on the top as well.

Glad to see the place back online with an updated look. Just a few design bugs here and there but I'm sure the team are working hard to get it all polished up. Great work team.

I couldn't agree more,

reading all comments, just a question arise now, its only "me"<----- or there's something strange into dev corners section which not allow anymore posting or quoting comments?

@LAbyOne Nope, same here. I can't remember who said it, but one of the admins/moderators said it was due to the topic settings or something like that.

Well, it wasn't a admin/moderator who said that. I'm getting old.

I've maybe identified the problem - I no longer remember how I've (or another Admins/Supervisors) configured Dev Corner Forum but since the last upgrade, it seems that members group no longer has permission to reply in that forum so that couldbe the reason.

I could fix it but I prefer to check with Poco as he's more aware about.

Where's the content page went? I used that to keep track of topics I was active in. No issue if it's replaced/removed at all was just a nice feature.

Also playing about with the CSS personally I think it looks good with #ipsLayout_body background set to #fff Just a suggestion ;)

I guess that's the reason, probably in the config all has been mixed up, and now the rules applied once only for devs thread applies also to members,

Unfortunately, none of the available sidebar options offer the facility to follow contents/topics in the manner that existed previously, i.e. the list of threads in which one had posted at some point in a recent or distant past. I too found this useful but I guess I'll have to learn to live without it.

What we have now is a list of topics one created or the list of posts one wrote. The latter is the closest to whart existed before but there's no options to sort it per containing thread. I guess one has to choose to follow a thread now as opposed to the previous automatic following of threads in which one had posted.

I guess making a plugin to customize contents following could make the job. A side to explore.

From my point of view, the forum software has gained much maturity since its first release (3 years ago, I think). Yes, everything is not perfect but over time, you'll get accustomed.

Could you give the Unread Content a try? It's on the top right corner of the site.

I know what you mean, and that was one of the things I was looking for after the forum upgrade. However, this is a new template, with new features, and you actually have a lot more control with the new version.

So, check it out, in case you haven't already, and try out the filters. See if it helps. You can also save that as a New Stream, as you can see below. So you don't have to apply the same filters over and over again.

anyone knows where Spoiler function is ?

Thanks in advance

The new post edit UI is quite basic and missing a lot of functions like spoiler, Font, super/subscript, view without formatting, etc.  I made a request earlier in this thread that at some point they add back this functionality.

You can still type the tags in manually, eg this is Courier New font

And you can do the same with spoiler, if you type in the spoiler tags: [ then spoiler then ] followed by the text you want hidden, and then  [/spoiler] at the end.  You get this:

This is a spoiler

Unfortunately it doesn't look right  in the preview window  - it shows up like it's going to be a Code tag.  But it does work in the post, as shown above.

To add to my post just now - it looks like manual spoiler tags only half work.  Yes you can do them as seen above, but it doesn't recognise the end tag.  So the whole rest of the post will be in spoiler tags.

In my post above, the line "Unfortunately it doesn't look right  in the preview window  - it shows up like it's going to be a Code tag.  But it does work in the post, as shown above. " was not meant to be in a spoiler.

So you can enter manual spoiler tags and it works, but it must be the last thing in the post, because the closing [/spoiler] tag is not recognised.

It would be nice for this to be fixed and for the Spoiler, Font, and other tags to be re-added to the post editor.

Until then, here is a reference guide to manual BBCode tags.   Most or all of these tags will work if you type them in manually in the edit box.  And then you can usually hit the Preview button (last on the right in the edit toolbar) to see how it looks before posting.  Though as mentioned the preview doesn't work completely right in the case of Spoiler.
