It looks like when Steve Jobs said "See you soon" at the end of his annual MacWorld keynote, he meant it literally. Rumors have been floating around that an Apple Special Event will take place late next month or in early March. The Special Event is supposedly going to reveal the "Top Secret" features of Leopard and also introduce the new iLife 07. Apple is also expected to announce the official launch date of Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard. LoopRumors has the scoop.

LoopRumors is hearing rumblings that Apple is preparing a Special Event that should take place in February or early March. The most likely purpose of the event is to showcase the remaining 'Top Secret' features of Mac OS X (Leopard), and announce an official launch date.

Besides the introduction of Leopard, Apple may also introduce some new rumored devices such as displays, a true widescreen iPod, new Macs, and a replacement to the iSight camera.

Looks like it's time to get out the Stevenote bingo cards.

It'll be the release of iLife and iWork '07, MAYBE even leopard (with Vista coming out it's probable).

In terms of Macs, we'll see a better Mac mini (Core 2 Duo, n wireless). Maybe (unlikely) an ultraportable Macbook Pro.

Related Mac stuff: new iSight and/or cinema displays with iSight.

iPod: 16GB ipod, some way or another (probably a 5th gen but with flash memory), and a price drop for the 4 and/or 8 gig nanos so that it makes sense with this new model.

iPod related: talk a little about Apple tv, iPhone.

I think that should do it.

Anything anyone would like to debate? :thumbsup_anim: I'm all ears!

So, this is just a rumor as of yet, not official?

On a related note, I am wondering if Leopard will be released this Fall instead of the Spring.

Otherwise, I am sure we will be seeing Steve real soon.

Great, but I hear those voices saying "I'm disappointed" after the event passed.

Well, taking a look at the Apple Events page, I always thought that it was a little odd that we had 3 "Events" for January (Macworld and 2 Trade Shows), nothing for February and then 1 trade show in March.

I would have to say if its only about new iTunes store stuff ill have to go crazy. I want something I could seriously use and want. iPhone is nice, but no way ill buy it.

I would love Leopard to come out. Just in time to laugh at all those people who went out and feverishly spend monies to either upgrade their system or to buy a new system to work with Vista. + that means hacking season is open and we can finally use Leopard on hackintoshes

I hate to say it, but doesn't it sound like when people's speculations are totally wrong, they simply rehash those rumors and push them to the next major Apple event? *cough cough* Keynote 2006... then MacWorld... etc... *cough cough*

It's like scraping the leftovers from dinner and reconstituting them for the next day's meal.

That is how I eat every day. So I figure everything else in life is worthy of that pattern. + its not like its bad for apple this way. They simply continually build up hype.

Looks like February 15th may be a good bet...

I doubt that they would come out with two Leopard seeds in the same month.

Oh, and that does mean that on this 3rd Thursday of the month, Apple has seeded 9A343 & 9A344.

maybe this event is for the announcement of new widescreen 80 and 100gb iPods as well as the official announcement of The Beatles coming to iTunes (along with a special Beatles iPod)

Oooh, I hope they don't upgrade the iMac. I just purchased mine! It seems to be a good time to reveal a release date for Leopard, especially with the commercial release of Vista right around the corner.
