Anyone else in the same situation as me? I have a Toshiba A215-7422 (specs in tag) and with Zeph 10.5.2 I can't even see the installer. I hit -v and it all loads fine untill the mouse pointer and gray screen show up and then it just hangs there until I turn it off. I left it running for about 2 hours and still nothing. Any ideas?

I am getting the disc right now. However, I want to know ahead of time if it is going to work or not...like if it is going to be worth it...

Specs:

CPU:Amd Athlon 64 X2 5600+ AM2 (2.8ghz)

MoBo: EVGA 590i SLi AMD

Ram: 2GB DDR2 533mhz

Video: Dual EVGA e-Geforce 8600GT (256mb each)

Audio: Realtek HD Audio (ALC882)

HDD: 250GB SATA/80GB SATA

Any help is appreciated. I had tried an earlier version, but the disc wouldn't boot up. Kept giving me "Waiting for root device" error.

Hi, i have installed this and works but with cpus=1 flag using the kernel 9.2.0 by ToH (DVD Default). Now i try with new netka's kernel 9.2.0 for to use the 4 cores then i don't get kernel panic with this kernel but i got this... Any idea? Sorry for my english...

try to format it with different software. use gparted live cd and format your HD as HFS+, and see if it will help!

The hfs+ option is grayed out in gparted and it will only let me make a 2 gig hfs partition.

Try Hirens BootCD 9.x it has different partition utilities that it will help you format your HD.

I'll do that. Also forgot to mention :D that Disk Utility doesn't see my cd rom either...

Hey proplaya I think your specs are similiar to mine. I saw that you got it installed. Mine always stops with 4 mins. to go. I was wondering what options u chose in custmoize. That would really help me if you don't mind. Thanks! Also any other advice would help. Can't really type my specs as I am on my touch at the moment but they were on page 14 or 13. Please help I have been trying this for more than a week...

Hey guys i got it working. Im using leopard now, all i did was use a usb keyboard and frgt about the PS/2 its a hassle.

The things i used were Toh kernel 9.2, ati drivers all of them , ac97 , all lan was checked, and some other things i forgot about.

I still have one more problem though i cant switch between resolutions. my card is a x800 can i install these from the ati website or no?

Oh I am going to try it again. I hope it works. I have tried it about seven times but i think I dont choose the right options. also if you dont mind, how did you format the drive? Did you choose mac extended (journaled)? I appreciate you responding thanks!

Works fairly well. Great installation with no mods required so far. Cannot seem to get Audio working and I am getting artifacts on the display. Cannot access my Silicon Image 3114 Raid set up yet.

Has anyone gotten a 8800GT working for Zephyroth 10.5.2? I installed from his 8800 drivers and the only thing I get is native resolution, quartz extreme doesn't work and I got random artifacts on the screen alot.
same issues with me. Lots of artifacts and Qe does not work. I can change to a number of resolutions.
I'll do that. Also forgot to mention :thumbsdown_anim: that Disk Utility doesn't see my cd rom either...

as I see from your Signature that you have sata and IDE! do you have the DVD drive as sata? do you have extra IDE cd/dvd drive? I know for sure that you can install this leopard on IDE or sata HD. I do have two DVD drivers only one of this drives can see Leopard installation DVD. try to make the DVD as slave and your HD as master. if you can't control you sata then just set your HD as master. and keep your dvd as it is.

Just wanted to report on a almost perfect install!

PC: Asus A8N-SLI, AMD 4400 X2, 2Gb 333 Mhz Memory

Hard disk: Sata I disk

Video card: NVidia 7800 GT 256 Mb fully supported

DVD DL burner: LG supported

Audio: ACL 850 Audio In and Out working (connected to front panel)

Network: 3Com3C905b-TX network card fully working natively (really love that...)

Keyboard/Mouse: PS/S Keyboard and Mouse working.

Firewire: Working

USB 1.1/2 not yet working. USB 1.1 Logitech headset and USB 2 External disk are recognized in System Profiler, but don't work or mount to the desktop. (yet?)

Update: USB 1.1/2.0 working if devices are plugged in and powered up at boot.

I used GUID partition table, so I had to install EFI (8) manually

Best,

Cat_7

did you do anything special to get the ACL850 working? I have the same board yet it does not work. No built in audio seen. BTW, no probs with USB though at all.

i may be joining the AMD ranks soon, my intel lappy just isn't cuttin it for me anymore, time for upgrade! if i could afford a macbook i would definently get one but i can't yet, so AMD here i come! i'll be looking forward to the horror's of getting leopard up and running on it as soon as i get it and format it

yes i picked mac extended (journaled) and also i forgot to mention that i installed some sil3112 driver if i remember correctly. I used paragon partition manager 9.0 to partition my HDD(Dual-Booting). If you are just installing mac then go ahead format the whole HDD with mac extended (journaled).

Edit: Can someone make a ATiinject or something for the x800 brand cards for Leopard. I now this is asking to much but ive tried the How-to x800 guide with out success. <---I think thats only for 10.4 like he says LOL o well everything else works except for my Graphic card not being identified(Stuck at 1024x768 no QE/ci). Hope someone gets off their lazy but and makes something for us hahaha :P :P :P :P :P :P :P JK LOL. Great Release by Zeph and many thanks to this forum for making possible.

Hello guys I am fairly new to the Hackintosh projects. I passed by the ' bay' and picked up the latest Zeph 10.5.2 revision 1. I burned the iso file and proceeded to boot it off the cd-rom from my AmD PC.

First of all my PC specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester (MMX, SSE, SSE2, 3DNOW! Professional)

MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM 939 NVIDIA nForce3 Ultra

Western Digital Caviar SE WD2000JD 200GB 7200 RPM SATA 1.5Gb/s

KINGMAX 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 433 (PC 3500)

Let me know if you guys need any more PC Specs Info.

On to the process:

I pop in the DVD into the DVD-Rom. I get boot and prompt into Darwin Bootloader. It loads and I get the famous gray apple screen. Immediately after that the screen becomes a shade darker and I get prompt to reboot via pressing the power button of the restart button. I restart, I get back onto the Darwin and soon I see this:

Soon after another black screen just displaying:

System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found.

That is all it stays idle until I turn off the power.

I would greatly appreciate anyones insight towards this. Like I said I am new to this but am very curious and determined to get this done.

Thank you all!

Ok i might be wrong but i think that there is something wrong with your DVD. Did you burn it at 4x or less? if not than maybe the files are bad. I think that the max burn speed is 4x, if u already did that then i guess one of the gurus have to help u out. Wait for them they should post with some help. :)

Yes I have the install dvd in my Ide drive. Are you saying I should try another ide dvd drive? The OSx installs have never seen my Sata dvd or harddrive. So thats why I have a ide dvd and harddrive in my machine.

try to change you IDE HD from Master to Slave or from Slave to Master! and see if you can see it under disk utility.

don't worry about you can't see the DVD you need to see your HD for now.

Thank you for the reply!

I burned it in 1x . Toast then verified it and it was successful.

I'm having a problem installing using this DVD. It installed right and when it gets to the restart screen; it tries to restart and then i get the grey darwin screen and it stalls there. i try rebooting it without the DVD and i get a kernel panic dealing with PCGenUSBEHCI. I don't know what to do; i'll be open to any suggestions that you can give me.

I have a Gateway T-1616

with an AMD Turion 64 X2 Processor

ATI Radeon x1670 (that sounds right) graphics card.

any takers?

Hey proplaya thanks for the reply! Sorry but i have another question. I am installing it on a usb external hard drive, western digital, can it be installed on that or does it have to be on a master hard drive? I tried it but still no success :-(

P.S. I wish someone would make a guide for this outlining the basic info and they should make it a sticky. Stuff like What format to use when partitioning, external or internal drive, or some directions on how the process works. I would do it but i dont have a successful install yet. I may be asking to much, i just think it would be something people can refer to. dont mean to sound bossy just my two cents. Other than that, this is a great forum and everybody is very helpful!!!

Okay, I got it... I was stupid and missed some steps.

Now it's working great. I can't find much wrong with it besides it still requires the DVD to boot up.

Is there a way to fix that?

Oh, and many thanks. This is a great way to testdrive OSX before dishing out the dough for the real deal. :o

how did you fix this error? I'm stuck with the same deal. When I go into verbose mode i get the "waiting for root device" error.

Opteron Dual Core 170 OC to 2.8GHz

Asrock 939 Dual-BSTA mobo

2GB DDR RAM

installing on 40gb PATA HDD from SATA DVD burner

Nvidia 7800GS

Thanks!
