Easier than Netkas' method (with all due respect to the man....)

 

In Software Update, Select Download only.

After you get the pkg; use Pacifist to install, deselect the kexts you want to retain or don't want to install.

Works fine on my rig, GUID w/ PC_EFI installed from a Retail DVD.

The netkas method was pretty easy.

Pacifist is the ONLY app I have that crashes constantly. Guaranteed crash within about 30 seconds of every launch. (Nothing in logs, very odd)

ME 2!!! Netkas method, remeber to delete the appleintelCPUXXXX.kext as soon as you see it if you wait too long the system WILL hang!

ok, I installed 9C27 (from ADC I might add for the mods benefit), and cant for the life of me remember how to update to 10.5.2 final (I'm on a Macbook) any ideas?

You'll need to use the 10.5.2 Revisoner, then install the update. Not sure if it's included in the 10.5.2 Final update, if it isn't grab 9c31 off ADC it's included in the Developer seed I have...

Edit: Just checked, you'll need to get it from ADC as I thought. If you don't want to download ~343MB again though, email me via my site and i'll put the 3.1MB revisioner somewhere for you :)

Active Directory

Addresses issues which could hinder or prevent binding Mac OS X 10.5.x clients to Active Directory domains.

 

AirPort

Improves connection reliability and stability

Includes 802.1X improvements.

Resolves certain kernel panics.

Adds support for more third-party routers, as detailed in this article.

 

Dashboard

Improves performance of certain Apple Dashboard widgets (such as Dictionary).

Time Machine

Fixes an issue in which the backup disk displayed in the Finder may be out of sync with the disk chosen for Time Machine.

Alrighty, Netkas worked for me! You the man!

 

I do have a question though, my system information is gone in the System Profiler and it says my CPU speed is twice as fast as it is. I thought Netkas said you didn't have to replace AppleSMBIOS, but is that my issue?

Well I followed Netkas instructions and it worked however I noticed:

 

1) When I click "About This Mac" it says I have a 4.3 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.

2) Instead of Hackintosh listed as model it now says Dell XPS 420.

 

Everything seems to be working fine though.

That's because AppleSMBIOS.kext has been updated.

 

Even with an old hacked one, the model will still show as that, as for whatever reason Apple changed the way the Product name is gathered by System Profiler etc. however other things such as CPU speed would be fixed by using an older one.

Works fine (mbr & efi) after downloading the updater ... Remember (from Netkas) to:

 

1) Delete AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext (or use Netkas's hacked version) to stop hpet error

2) Change the install script after install. Otherwise "don't Steal Mac OSX.kext" loads during re-boot, followed by kernel panic.

 

Replace other kexts as required (i.e., AppleACPIPlatform.kext for PS2, AppleHDA for sound, AppleSMBIOS.kext for System Profiler and Time Machine to work, PowerManagement.kext bundle for laptop users, etc...)

mac.nub is there a way that System Profiler work with the Vanilla AppleSMBIOS ?

 

I get "There was an error while gathering this information." on the Hardware section.
