Core24All
So, netkas "hacking" is only needed for the iATKOS release? Anyone with GUID_EFI and Kalyway 10.5.1 having success? Paranoid Marvin
It has hosed mine - iATKOS with 945GC mobo using GUID partition map. It seems to be the Appleintelpowermanagement.kext causing the problem, as far as I can tell. I'll see if I can sort it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87036-1052/page/2/#findComment-618489 Share on other sites

S.SubZero
I just tried with Software Update on iATKOS 1.0r2 and it installed, then OS X blew up "you need to restart" style. It won't boot, trying to single user using -s shows "Package 0 didn't get an HPET" over and over. The only troubleshooting I tried was moving the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext out of the extensions directory, this didn't resolve the problem (and I didn't really expect it to) but it stopped doing the Package 0 thing. Booting with -s just hangs after the cursor appears. I can re-do my install, that's no problem (only did it yesterday) but was curious if there was any way to try to salvage it. papillon68
but what means netkas by "now u can recover ur applesmbios/applehda/etc (didn;’t u forget to make backups b4 running update ?" consolation
Easier than Netkas' method (with all due respect to the man....) In Software Update, Select Download only. After you get the pkg; use Pacifist to install, deselect the kexts you want to retain or don't want to install. Works fine on my rig, GUID w/ PC_EFI installed from a Retail DVD. cyclonefr
You need to follow netkas' guide if you aren't using another OSX to update because Leopard rebuild kextcache and loads AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement while installing 10.5.2, so it makes your system freeze... consolation
What kexts are to be recovered ? All ? Some ? One ? None ? err... The ones you used to make OS X work on your system - it varies depending on your setup. (This is where ppl who used pre-patched DVDs will start to have nightmares....) What kexts are to be recovered ? All ? Some ? One ? None ? He means Hackintosh specific kexts ie your Audio kext, Natit, AppleSMBIOS if you have an older one, IONetworking if that fixed Time Machine. Paranoid Marvin
Well, I have replaced dsmos and SMBIOS.kext. There's no kernel panic this, but it's not booting. I guess I'll just restore from backups tomorrow and go for a different install tomorrow. netkas
1) no need to replace dsmos 2) if it's no bootign - u forgot to edit that file named "1" 3) if u forgot - boot -s, kextload dsmos, type quit and let it go Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87036-1052/page/2/#findComment-618580 Share on other sites
Headrush69
Netkas has already done the hard work, he has even provided a little script to help out the slow-of-mouse. Back up yr kexts first though, you'll need a couple. Following that worked fine. thestevo
I've got an E520, GUID, ICH8R. I've got a lot on this machine right now, I'd rather not lose it. And, I'm sorry that I don't understand, but if all we need for PC EFI to work and make the OS think its Mac hardware is dsmos, then why aren't these all working perfectly. I know there is probably more to it, but I just don't understand what. Anybody?
