Hello,

maybe you know, i have a great working Retail OS X on a Asus P5K.

Now i have a P5K-WS here, do exactly the same and i can´t get the sound working

Installed your P5K-Installer, but no chance ... installed ALC883 from iPC 10.5.6 --> not working.

Do you have any Trick for me ?

I have 5 internal hard drives and I am trying to install and run OS X on its own hard drive. I don't want to touch my RAID array with OS X, I don't even care if OS X sees those hard drives.

I decided to install the 10.5.5 ComboUpdate instead, it works perfectly fine, go figure!

So something happens in the 10.5.6 update that conflicts with AppleAHCIPort.kext, JMicronATA.kext, or something else completely that doesn't let it see my hard drive anymore.

It's not that I need a driver for it, it's that I need the ones that work with 10.5.1-10.5.5 to work with 10.5.6. I just don't know where to start in terms of looking for what is causing the problem in the first place.

I noticed when booting 10.5.5 that I always see this:

"Got boot device = IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/SATA@1F, 2/AppleAHCI/CHN1@1/IOAHCIDevice@0/AppleAHCIDiskDriver/IOAHCIBlockStorageDevice/IOBlockStorageDriver/ST3300622AS Media/IOGUIDPartitionScheme/Untitled@2"

The same is true whenever I am able to successfully boot, so maybe I need to include all of the kexts referenced here on my Boot132 cd when I try to install from the 10.5.6 DVD?

I used to have crashes on my system too ( P5K-E wifi/AP ). Some time ago I found a thread where they have kexts for the jmicron controller that are working better with more than 3 gb of ram (sometimes leopard crashed to me because of the controller).

I also had for a while some crashes because of the integrated network card, using the yukon driver. (now I'm using a PCI network card, so I can't tell)

For myself, I "solved" it by removing temporarily one of the memory dimms, leaving 3gb and no crashes.

Hope you can find something useful here :)

Greetings,

Victor

There are tools to find what sound card do you have in your motherboard, try lspci and check the vendor id and hardware id, then search for the appropriate kext, if it is the alc883, you´ll have to insert manually the ids in the plist inside the kext.

Dear all,

I have a problem. During the boot of a retail Mac OS X Leopard installation DVD.

After some time the following remarkable appearance shows on my screen.

(see external image below or attached file)

This applies to the retail edition 10.5.4 and 10.5.6 only, the other "home made (HM)" versions work properly.

These are:

1. XxX 10.5.6 Leo; (HM)

2. Kalyway 10.5.2; (HM)

3. iAtkos V5i; (HM)

4. iPC.10.5.6; (HM)

5. iDeneb_v1.4. (HM)

My specifications are:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700;

MB: ASUS P5K;

GPU: SAPPHIRE TECHNOLOGY Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB HDMI / dual DVI PCI Express;

MNTR: Dual screen 2 x Samsung 226 bw;

M: 2 x 2048 Corsair DDR2;

Peripheral: Apple keyboard.

Is anyone here familiar with the problem and / or willing to help me?

Thanks,

Wally

I just don't know what to say... Thank you very much, sir! :D;)

I now have a fully working Retail Leopard install running, I didn't really believe this could work. But it did! And it's so easy thanks to the KEXT Pack you provided. All Updates running fine, Attansic L1 NIC worked out-of-the-box without even installing the kext for it.

I've used a legal and original Leopard 10.5.1 Retail DVD.

Again, thanks to everybody who has contributed to this!

I'm more than glad because I told a few guys who need a new Mac for Logic that they should take a look at the Hackintosh method and I nearly guaranteed them to get it working on a compatible Intel rack. Now I feel a lot better and safer.

I wish I could send you a beer via email :D

Have a nice day guys!

Hi, first of all, is that image from the "installation" attempt or after installing?

if is the installation attempt, your video card is buggy..

if it is the boot screen after installing, and you did not configure the system yet, manually place an injector for your card in the /System/Library/Extensions folder, boot, configure your vga and remove the injector

if it is after configuring your system, be sure you did not use the "graphics mode" option in the Universal Installer, some vgas do not support high modes...

Other than that, I have no Idea, try using another VGA! :)

Thanks for your time, effort and response.

The image is a snapshot of the installation process.

Ie. the DVD disc is loading and after a while it like as shown on my photo.

It is strange that this only occurs with the retail DVD(s).

Any "home made" version perfectly install.

With as I have said above:

1. XxX 10.5.6 Leo; (HM)

2. Kalyway 10.5.2; (HM)

3. iAtkos V5i; (HM)

4. iPC.10.5.6; (HM)

5. iDeneb_v1.4. (HM)

Summary

(Home made)

After the installation of some "home made (HM)" version my system is working 100%.

Ie. both the installation and operation of my system.

(Retail)

The installation using a retail DVD does not start correctly and over time,

i get the view as I have previously posted a photo.

Any idea, suggestion? :thumbsup_anim:

Well, so probably it is the media (dvd) that is not working properly.

Did you get the 10.5.6 Retail DVD? If not try installing with it!

Otherwise try another VGA, borrow from a friend in order to install it (or buy a geforce 8600GT, it is cheap and work fine), then use your old one.

Again thanks for your response.

Can you give me the MD5 or SHA1 hash of your Mac OS X Leopard installation DVD?

Then i can check my dvd image for accuracy.

My Action Plan for the next time:

1. Leopard install with DVI to VGA Converter.

2. Leopard install with borrowed video card.

Best regards,

Wally

Hi all,

I saw the warning about the S-ATA DVD. Unfortunatelly I still have an ISO DVD. Prior to spending some $$$ on a new DVD reader I´d like to confirm if the problem I have is regarding the DVD or the ISO image:

The boot loader (BOOT 123) doesn´t show the console, but an error loading the img. Is this the S-ATA related problem or an ISO burning problem?

Thanks

In theory it should load IDE devices, but some old IDE do not work, so try getting a S-ATA device instead, or borrow one for the intallation.

It wasnt alc883 IT IS alc888!!! So if you have problems with P5k-se audio card that could be the reason...

Thanks Jimmy!!!

I have a minor problem with DVDplayer it doesnt work, when i put a dvd (movie) DVDplayer show up (its normal) but it close quickly... ;) If i remove the dvd disc it loads ok, but never with a dvd inserted...

Last one, leo 10.5.6 doesn't include iphoto? I dont have it...

Hello guys,

it's really great to know that is possible to do this hack.

I have a P5K Premium Wi-fi, with a Q6600 and a Nvidia 8600GT.

Do I have good chances to succeed? Has someone succeed with similar config?

I have a 500GB disk with Window XP. My plans are to install OSX in a partition of this hd.

It's possible to have dual boot between the 2 os?

The link for the KEXTS PACK INSTALLER is broken.

Where I can download it?

thanks in advance,

andre

Hello Jimmy,

I just build a hackintosh for a friend and when burn DVDs with TOAST 9 or 10 at 10% got Kernel Panic, with Sympleburn didn't start to burn... his hardware:

MOBO: P5K-SE/EPU

CPU: Intel Q9400 2.66 Ghz

RAM: 8 GB @ 800 MHz Ozc

HDD: WD 320 GB SATA II x 3

VIDEO: nVidia GeForce 8600 GT 512 MB (EFI STRING AS 8600GTS as 8600GT DIDN'T WORK)

LG DVD RECORDED SATA (Works fine at Vista 64 bit)

WiFi USB EDIMAX

I did install the Retail version 10.5.4 then Combo Update 10.5.6 with boot, kexts & com.boot.plist at EFI Partition.

I just remember that in Bios I can's set-up Sata as AHCI, maybe this can be the problem??

Please I need your help!

Thanks!!

Roy
